  • Groovy movie

  • *** My Thanksgiving night TRADITION since 1980 ***

  • It's unlikely there will be a better music documentary ever....

  • Who would dislike this?

  • when they say play this film loud at the beginning. they aren't flamin kidding. you can't hear robbie for nothing if the sounds down.

  • "TURN IT UP!"

  • CAPOLAVORO ASSOLUTO!!

  • I didnt know too much about the Band, except that The Weight was a great song, before I watched the Last Waltz. After watching it about 16 times, you realize how great The Band is. Very different from regular rock bands, they arent in it to make records, there just there for the music. I guess when your a real musician, its the music that matters, whether your backing up Ronnie Hawkins or playing at Woodstock. The Band is so great.

  • @pepper61455 Very well said. You couldn't be more right.

  • Could anyone tell me if Ringo Starr makes an appearance on The Last Waltz?? I've never watched it myself, but have read somewhere that he did.

  • @CARNLOU Yes, he plays in the encore (I shall be released).

  • @CARNLOU yes

  • @CARNLOU That's Ringo (briefly) at 2:16

  • I have this DVD.

  • ロビー・ロバートソンかっこいいな

  • Fantastic live film. Scorsese! What else can I say. Shine A Light was not as good but good in it's own right. Excellent movie and necessary for any rock fan.

  • Night before Thanksgiving tradition 6 years runnin!

  • muddy waters is in this movie right?

  • @eljavio - Yes

  • Does anyone know who the foreign guy is that speaks on The Last Waltz. I been trying to figure it out with my dad. We actually just wanna know what the language is.

Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

  • @13expose13 - Michael McClure_Introduction to The Canterbury Tales in Chaucerian dialect

  • @ryy79 Thanks!

  • @13expose13

Michael McClure reciting Geoffrey Chaucer's Prologue to The Canterbury Tales. It is in Middle English -- 13-14th century English.

  • last waltz 1976 was epic with eric clapton ringo starr bob dylan and neil young

  • Who's that guy screaming at 1:15-20?

  • @KissMyAssWMG Van Morrison

  • @ryy79 and he rocks

  • On Thursday 5/27/2010 The Philadelphia Film Society screened "The Last Waltz" as part of their summer film concert series. We're looking for commentary on the film for the PFS blog called Tinsel & Tine( tinseltinecom). Hope to hear from you!

  • Damn, Van Morrison got fat.

  • @degree7 did mate but wat a voice

  • @degree7 yes, he did...but his voice is kicking ass!!!

  • ummm.... did joni and robbie kiss?

  • @Marrerodrumming LOL yeah...thats what I siad too

  • @Marrerodrumming Sure looks like it. Heck, if I was Joni, I'd kiss him too. Robbie looked so good back in the day.

  • I'm 14 yrs old and this is my favorite movie! But it makes me sad knowing this was their last concert together and that 10 yrs later Richard committed suicide RIP Richard and Rick

  • the theme of the last waltz is epic.

  • I remember seeing the movie in High School. My best friend and I were really into the rock scene, although we had heard many of these songs. She and I would sit there, not knowing. Then we would elbow each other, saying, "Damn they're good". It really brought home to the two of us, post sixties kids, what was great.

    Still love it!

  • And the fact that Manuel could feel that despondant, and take his life is truly sad. Levon sure does shine a different light on it; all the makeup RR was wearing, he thought he looked like a clown. And, too, walked away with the songwriters' credits, and thus the Lion's share of what the Band could provide.

  • @4rainbowed get your facts straight Levon helm is a Jealous of robbie robertsons talents and besides most of all white people 1920-now even hated natives for no reason

  • The Last Waltz with Robbie Robinson and 'the Band' Bob Dylan's old backing band. This film directed by Martin Sorzse and when released & showing at Piccadilly cinema (opp; Steps exit), it was here that my wife and I went to see the movie. And, we were not disappointed with the content of the film. In hindsight, it seems a bit early for Robbie Robinson to talk of retiring such a great & successful Band as TheBand. Cannot remember if Roger McGuine was in the film.

  • It is really quite tragic... you experience the film and just gawk at their mastery, all the while cognizant that this was essentially the pinnacle of their time together. I do wish they included more footage of Richard... Robbie's movie career never went anywhere, so the excessive editing seems a waste. Garth probably wishes he hadn't been shown at ALL, but... Anyway. I still absolutely ADORE this film, and lend it to anyone who truly appreciates quality music. The. Best. Ever.

  • @ADreamAbove not true robbie could have been successful actor but after his first movie carny he says its to much work lol

  • If you love this movie, get the real scoop, by reading "this wheel's on fire" and you will have a totally different perspective

  • the movie is still about as special as it gets, but knowing that Levon despised the whole idea sure does shine a new light on it. R.R. was the only one who wanted to end things. amazing movie, but sad at the same time.

  • @scranchdip no every one in the band wanted to go there own way but Levon

  • @TheLazZzar if you read Levon Helm's book you would know that that was a false statement.
