  • To me, Christianity began to loose its integrity after the death of Paul the apostle. Slowly but surely everything just got out of hand. Once the Papal took over where the Roman emporers left off, it was a done deal.

  • Videos and people forget how much freemasonry had an effect on the formation of our country and how it's luciferian practices still have a great effect on us today. Just look at George Washington..a devote and strong freemason..Great Vid but a little Windy on the formation of the U.S...Isn't it weird how secret societies(Catholic included)have such a impact on the way we live..If you study deeply you'll realise that Washington D.C"design". and 9/11 were all rituals!

  • Love this. Very interesting and fascinating how much we have evolved in just 500 years.

  • @Akaxor93 Good program

  • He must have been old when he fought for black rights.

  • Oh wow, I was a big admirer of Martin Luther until this part of the documentary..

  • Amazing, what a documentary! I'm in a religion class right now, studying Christianity, Judaism, Islam and Buddhism. I heard that Martin Luther was a visionary that changed the church...but I HAD NO IDEA HOW MUCH! Thank you for posting this series. This was VERY INSIGHTFUL.

  • LOL I love the end statement by Luther. He said he wants to come back as a ghost, so he can pester the priest and pope. Man! he hated them so much! I dont blame him. they did so much damage to ppl when they had the knowledge of scripture rit in their hands. tnx for the upload! im really sad to hear the perception that he had abt the Jews :(

  • This is well down and rather fair portrayal. Luther was never one to mince words. I think that's why he is still lionized and demonized to this day. Lionized by protestant Christians and harshly criticized for calling the pope the anti-Christ and for his hateful words about Judaism. The latter is chilling given what happened in his homeland centuries later with the perpetrators using his own words as propaganda.

His contribution toward individual freedom is very important.

  • @moloko5-Did he really hate the Jews? wow! i didnt know that. Now that i do, i have a different outlook of him. what made him hate them? i really would love to know. tnx

  • @HelloWorld1947 He didn't hate the Jews earlier in his life. He said he didn't blame them for not respecting Christianity for the immoral ways of the Church, but after he tried and failed to convert them to his version of Christianity, he really began despising them.

  • @moloko5 i agree.

  • If someone created a religion based on murder and killing, they'd be considered evil. Evil, but honest.

  • thanks for the upload

  • Ive never understood WHY Martin Luther hasent gotten more attention than he did. Without him we are nothing. HE WAS THE FIRST REAL RENESANCE (sp?) MAN!

Every Christian of all denominations should know what he has done to allow them to worship as they do. Prodistants have only one Prophet.

THANK YOU LORD FOR THIS GREAT PROPHET!!!

  • @2727taterbug well, i'm not trying to flame you, and i agree with your general sentiment, but martin luther is one of the most famous people in human history (and rightfully so). This is a two hour special on a major tv channel in a country outside his homeland 500 years after he died narrated by a movie star; i don't think people have exactly overlooked him.

i would also point out that the implications of his teachings reach far beyond xianity... as evidenced by this great piece!

  • I derived from this great story that GOD will deliver his true followers!

  • Narrated by Liam Neeson!? Damn! I didn't even realize until the end credits..

  • it probrably is biased but, it shows he didn't have anything to do with the sinful revolution.

  • .

Remember Christians, the will of God is no Catholic, Protestant,Orthodox, Penticostal, Adventist, JW, Etc. NO DIVISION, Only Christians, holy, helping and sharing instead of buying and selling.

"That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me." (John 17:9-21)

    .

  • confucius8000, you have missed the point so entirely that it is stunning. Luther wanted to move away from the corruption of the church and preached that the "merchandising" of the sacraments, indulgences etc. tainted the spirituality that the church was supposed to offer. Luther only wanted people to focus on God and their salvation and not to focus on papal merchandise such as indulgences. Directing people to this path was his spiritual duty.

  • Of course it is an anti-catholic and pro-protestant series, commented by protestants and a jewish woman with glasses - rubin. Therefore biased.

Destroying the images of saints etc is just aweful. Its like not believing that there are. If one doesn't believe that there are saints there is no point in believing in heaven either. Not worshipping the Virgin Mary is heretical without her there wouldn't have been a Christ in flesh and bones. Pretty depressing.

  • @confucius8000 dude, i dont think that because that woman is jewish, if she is, that she speaks highly of luther. In fact, if you watch the video one of his targets is judaism. And luther did not say destroy the images of the saints. He was just preaching against the corruption which had plagued the catholic church with the selling of indulgences

  • @confucius8000 Agreed. Programme very biased, and at times in a daft way. The dusty experts were told to spruce up the analysis. Hence , the 'jive talk'. The 'Rubin' expert was a big give- away.It will be a fairer world when the Father Kellys from Mayo, or the old Gallego or Breton priests are allowed to give their verdict on the foolisness of Hollywood, the den of theives on wall street, and the torment of of Christians in Palestine

  • He was a heretic who had the luck of having the prince of germany behind him, the latter didn't care about religion but was interested in not giving money to the church - pay less taxes.

It is all a question of money. People don't want to pay money, other people want more money for themselves. I don't see any spirituality whatsoever neither in Luther (everything he did was centered against the church issuing indulgencies) nor from the Pope who issued these indulgencies.

  • It was also a matter of money for the church - the last thing the popes of the 16th century were concern was religion. The power struggle between Habsburg and France were of much interest.

May Luther was the only one of the main players really honest - anyway this makes him even more a dangerous idiot.

  • Grace Alone

  • All the major heresies sprung up from protestantism - the quakers, the puritans, the pentecostals, evangelicals, mormons, jehovah'switnesses, baptistsetc.

Individualism brought in a very dangerous idea one can be saved without the church's mediation, hence no mass, no eucharist, no confession, and that leads to no crucifix then you're into -do what thou willt -satanism.

Grace without faith and good works is nothing. Everyone sins, the only way to atone for the sins is to confess and repent.

  • confucius8000

I know both sides and must say I would prefer Lutheranism anytime. We celebrate mass and have the eucharist, but it is different from the Catholic one. And we prefer to confess to God/ Jesus directly because they know what we do and why we do it anyway, so you don't really need a priest to tell you what to do. Just because we don't confess to a priest doesn't mean we don't repent. And good things are done also by people who don't believe in God. Do they go to hell?

  • @confucius8000

I guess it's better to have heresy splinter from Truth than to stay chained to a heretical system that usurps the glory of Christ.

  • great documentary

  • Calvin almost look like he was leading the reformation but like a papal rule style

  • I had respect for Martin Luther until just learning about his treatment towards the peasants.

  • Same with me. Furthermore, I am disgusted by his view of the peasants. His writings were even quoted by Nazists!

  • However, remember he is a man of his times. He is stuck between two worlds. He is important, however, because without him the freedoms of today might not have been possible. Once the idea is out of the bottle, even if he disagreed with were it went, it cannot be stopped. I respect him, not because he was always right, but he changed the western world for the better with a very fundamental ideal. I respect Thomas Jefferson in the same way. You can't build Rome in a day....

  • @IslamSucks1000 wow, for a person claiming to respect the ideals of Luther, you sure have a very interesting name :/

  • Thank you very much!!

  • Hello athephi, thanks for uploading and sharing

this documentary on Martin Luther my favourite

    spiritual hero.

I hope you will see mine too entitled "WHERE LUTHER WALKED" by Dr.Roland Bainton

  • Very good presentation! The man was courageous.

An inspiration for reform of today's oppressive regimes.

  • It's an insightful look into where and how began freedom and individualism in a new, modern world.

  • Yep, that's a good part of what I saw in this programme too. For better or worse (and maybe a little of both) Luther's Reformation strikes me as having played a significant role in influencing the character of the world we live in today.

Thank you for commenting on this series! (For a while there I was afraid that I was the only one in the world of YouTube who found this interesting to watch).

  • @athephi No, you are not the only one. :) I've read a good summary of the Protestant Reformation in the first half of the book The Great Controversy (with at least 2 or 3 chapters on Luther). Its quite well done with many quotes from historians of the subject. As for this documentary, I agree with what some of you are saying about how its emphasis on freedom, individualism, etc. I wish it had a little bit more to do with the truth as it is in Christ, and how he rediscovered it. Not bad though.

  • This is an excellent documentary about Luther, the Church, and the Reformation. It has been a pleasure to watch.
