Maybe some Asians do try to look Caucasian but not all of us do! I love wearing make up, fixing my hair, and wearing cute clothes. This does NOT make me fake. I do these things because they make me happy and make me feel cute. Since when has looking cute been considered fake?

@iBeauty3 Actually, a lot of them don't have lenses :) I'm Japanese, and many nerd glasses that's sold in Japan used to have lenses, but it was popular taking lenses out, so now they're sold with NO lenses :D! Idk if it's the same in Korea too, but I know some Korean friends wearing no lenses nerdy glasses :) I wear nerd glasses (Of course no lenses) with contacts :)

@missmuggledetector Erm. not really...It IS wrong that people judge each other when it comes to different races, but wearing circle lenses, dying our hair does not necessarily imply that we wanna look caucasian. If you really think that way then approach an asian who dyes their hair and wears circle lenses, most will tell you that they are a proud asian. It's just the asian style of this generation that you have to understand. You can't say anythinga bout surgery & makeup though. Thats worldwide

Surgery and makeup IS worldwide but not the way it is with Asians, especially South Koreans! I've a penpal in S.K who got plastic surgery for her GRADUATION PRESENT and I was just shocked. And yes; they do want to look more Western - take a look at that eyelid surgery. They don't want monolids, but want to make their eyes bigger and more appealing! And it is mostly Asians who apply makeup so much that it actually changes their appearence, so they look like an entirely different person!

Asians not all but many do want to appear more Caucasian looking, for that is (or, in their mind) the standard of beauty, so they feel they'll get more opportunities and such with the rounder eyes etc. etc. Look, I think when they do all that it looks incredibly fake and shallow, especially when they try to act "cute" - it was a joke to Britishers when I lived there. I think Asians should be more happy, and accepting of themselves, and I think they look just fine without changing too much.

For the most part, they've had articles, books whatever on this phenomonon in Asian countries, and it's really ridulous. It's FINE to wear makeup, but when you do so that it alters your appearence SO much that's not cool. Sure, there's plastic surgery in most places in the world, but in Asian countries and MAINLY S.K it's insane! They're becoming more and more fixated on their fake looks; and K-pop culture whatnot is filled with fake people. It's so much worse than Hollywood or British cinema!

When I say "fake" I mean the whole "trying to act cute thing" or trying to be something they're not. That's fake. They're hiding their true personality in these fashionable personalities. I know Asian culture, and I do like it. What I'm referring to is their..."Modern" culture which is just so based on looks, and acting the part for the most part. Not everyone in Asia is like that of course, but many are. Especially South Korea. The whole kawaii thing for instance is just overblown.
