  • @puljacina true, but then again the injuries he suffered before he moved up to the 400m could've been a blessing, who knows how he woulda excelled in the short sprints. I hope to see some sub 44's this year, Kirani vs Wariner will be interesting!

  • does anyone know butch reynold's 200m PB?

  • @puljacina sorry idk, I think he was a pure 400m sprinter cause his IAAF bio only shows 400m times

  • @phastman1994 yeah its a shame.i know that quincy ran his 10.30/20.50 PB's when he was still a teenager,he was incredibly talented but unfortunately he had too many injuries after barcelona..cant wait what jeremy, kirani and rondell will do this year

  • @puljacina It was 20.46 from 1987

  • @201081hero oh he did have an official time, thanks

  • @201081hero thanks a lot

  • he was easily in mid 43.4 shape in barcelona, maybe even in a high 43.3 shape

  • @puljacina agreed!

  • that means he ran a 10.8 seconds average every 100 meters...... holy fucking christ

  • no WAY!!! his 300m was under 32 secs O.O

  • WHOOO HOOOOO!!!! THIS IS MY COACH!!!

  • @bosun1209 thats sick!

  • his 300m split was like 31.6!!!!!! woah

  • his form was perfect

  • What happend to Michael Johnson in this race, did he not try to double? I know he got food poisoning and didn't make the 200m final.

  • @TheAngeltoDemon He originally planned to try the double but him and his coach, Clyde Hart, agreed he'd just focus on the 200m, then he got food poisoning a couple weeks before the Olympics

  • @phastman1994

Question for you...you are obviously an informed track fan. Which would you consider to have a greater legacy...

    1. A sprinter who currently has dominating world records, but has not been consistent in all his races and his times, and some medals. Bolt.

    2. A sprinter who over a long career has demonstrated that he was the class of his events winning multiple world and olympic gold's and a storied career and unbelieve winning streaks. M. Johnson.

  • @TheAngeltoDemon in this case I'd have to go with #2 mainly based on the fact that MJ's records are in a comparable league to Bolt's and was also very consistent. If it was comparing #1 to someone like Mo. Greene who was dominant and consistent like MJ, but unlike MJ, his times today aren't even close to as dominant as Bolt's, then I'd go with #1. MJ has the best combination of both, I still consider him the greatest but if Bolt continues to dominate I think he'll be right up there with him

  • @phastman1994 Good answer. This latest Bolt false start chaps my ass, I think he was going to run a good time, but if he believed in what he was telling people, how he didn't think he'd set a WR, he shouldn't have false started, based on how he looked in the rounds, it was his to lose. Oh well, thanks.

  • @TheAngeltoDemon true, Bolt was probably in 9.6/9.7 shape (maybe 9.7/9.8 considering the headwind), its a shame he false started. I hope he runs a sick 200m!

  • Greatest 400m runner in my opinion!!! If he had more time he would of broke the 43 mark. The reason "Y", because he is the only runner ever, to explode down the back stretch like a mad mann.. That shows he got the heart and not scared to hurt and push in this race!!! GO WATTS. Track world needs more like you, however we will never find another :-(

  • @camdenadvocate wow, better than MJ? I thought MJ also pushed hard in the latter 200. This was a great race. Do you know who was ranked #1 coming into the games this year, MJ or Watts?

  • @TheAngeltoDemon Danny Everett was actually ranked #1 going into the Olympics with 43.81 which he ran at trials. MJ and Watts had PB's of 43.98 and 43.97 at the time

  • i feel for Ian Morris in 4th. stuck in a monster era, he runs 44.2 and only gets 4TH!!! he'd be at least medalling in any other era including this era. i loved Morris's technique and the way he kicked home, massive stride and so relaxed. Very overlooked runner.

  • What's with Steve Lewis practically stopping at the finish?

Almost lost 2nd place and any podium medal at all.

  • He didnt just attack the curve getting out he attacked the whole race!!!!

  • WTF!!

  • Yea he was at the CIF HS Meet in 09 he was pretty laid back I wonder how he was as Mr 43.50 lol have you seen my San Dune Workout vid? Look it up under Micah Levi

  • Sounds like my story lol ive had injuries every yr almost since freshman yr of coll. He's pretty cool too I met him at a meet a couple yrs ago he was coaching for Taft

    high I think.

  • So why did Watts stop running so soon?

  • @MicahLeviClark He suffered from a car accident around 94 I believe it was and injured his hamstring. He was never able to get back from it.

  • isnt this where he ran with a shoe that had come apart?.., perhaps the best 400m run ever in my opinion.

  • David Grindley placed 6 and was a mere 19 years old.

  • watts gets a explosive getout but johnson and butch Reynolds was more stronger

  • Watts just stormed through the first 300 meters and eased up a bit in the end, maybe he could have beaten the world record with better pacing and running through the finish line. A damn shame.....

  • Quincy Watts Best running form ever!

  • @zk92000 You're totally right! It was perfect!
