The reporter was joking around by sarcastically asking if an obviously made up university was accredited. Tim was sarcastic yet again by saying it isn't accredited but it is accrediTED (absurdist humor).

Well, its better to explain in attempt to get people to understand or appreciate different types of humor rather than laughing at them, but ya. ;)

These guys really are modern variations of Andy Kaufman's comedic style. Although if you watch their show a few times their sense of humor should be a hell of a lot more obvious than the autistically wry humor of Kaufman.

Well, every comedic act Kaufman did WAS him being sarcastic without ever breaking character/s. The fact that he often pretended to break character when in fact he was playing yet another character made his comedy more cryptic to me compared with Tim and Eric.

They have different  'characters' on their shows but their comedy focuses less on being decepetive of whether they are being serious or not but instead being consistently absurd.
