  • I've always admired Gary's ability to make his SG sound like a pedal steel, and nowhere more than this song. Proud to be Minnesotan along with the Jayhawks!

  • just saw them in Vancouver, B.C. - Mark, Gary and the entire band are sounding fantastic !

  • wow, that's great stuff

  • Love this song, these guys are amazing!

  • That album will always be 1 at the top of my list, it's SO good to see it live! Thank You!

    :-)

  • They were such a great band. Now that Olson and Louris are performing together again, I wish they would stop the nonsense and just get The Jayhawks back together again. In today's musical wasteland, talents like these guys are so needed.

  • Absolutely one of the most underrated bands. Ever.

  • This is such a great song on a great album. They really were/are an underrated band. I can remember this song so well from my college days. I listened to this album constantly, but hardly anyone I knew knew of them and weren't interested because they weren't "grunge"

  • Gary Louris on guitar - it's like he's plucking my heart strings...

  • It's funny, for a while I thought the chorus lyrics were "two egg shells, one bad hen". I had it on a burned cd that didn't have song titles on it.

  • @bernyshakey: That's actually a great lyric you've got there. You should write a song with that!

  • @bernyshakey haha great title for a country song!

  • @bernyshakey blahahaha no shit? you gotta get off the farm once in awhile !!!!!!

  • Just beautiful, only way to describe it:-)

  • this is realy great from the band.and they have lots of more of those good songs.

i totaly agree with the point of view abouth the tele and sg and firebird guitars.

  • Thanks for posting this. I probably still have a VHS tape of this at home. This performance truly changed my musical life when I was 15.

  • Aljoshaaa:

Gibson SGs can sound like a Tele if you try to bring that out of them. That era of Gibsons were influenced by Fenders... or more specifically the fact that the twangy Fender sound was dominating the charts and the guitars were outselling them. The thinner bodies on SGs (which were replaced the discontinued Les Paul model at the time) and Firebirds were the result of going for a brighter, twangier Fender-like sound.

  • Man this is soooooooo fucking good. Great song. Makes me wanna drink all nite long.

  • America's most underrated band. A truly great outfit and Louris/Olson are quite wonderful

  • Agree. Good to know they're teaming up together again.

  • The Jayhawks captured that upper midwest melancholy sound perfectly; along with Dylan and Firetown (Butch Vigs' band from the 1980's)

  • zomg. fav. default.

  • A legendary band. One of my favourites. Great song.

  • i always wonder what this song is about..?

  • A car wreck?

  • you reackon?

  • longing. someone looking to take any opportunity to see somebody they are not permitted to see.

  • best ballad ever :) great, just know I realized Gary played it on Gibson, I was always thinkin it was tele. Thanks for posting this video. Cheers

  • two angels, one bad end
