That doesn't make any sense. I'm pretty certain he was just kidding. As an actor, you can't get much work if you have a bad memory, because you have to memorize lines. I think for you it was just a coincidence. It couldn't have affected your spelling because they were hardly showing the kid spelling anything! Unless there are more people who feel this way and are serious about it, there's no reason to research it and it's not a phenomenon.
