I have loved Celtic Woman since I first heard them years ago and have every single song they sang including their solo albums but I have to say Orla is just too amazing for words. The man goes off in the war to fight and the girl loves him so much she tails the army masking as a "woman of love" so she can follow her loved one. I was forbidden in past times for a woman to make it clear who she loves so her parents would frown heavily upon this. trans: Go, go, go my love

Well, she left her parents' house to be with her man, right? And as she doesn't have anything to sell, if she doesn't want to starve to death and she doesn't want to prostitute herself she had to beg for her daily bread.

the Irish are proud, and they cannot bear the thought of having any child of them beg for bread on the wayside. This brought shame to the family and they'd rather have her die than beg.

An hour before the ceremony the electricity in the church failed and we were panicking, but Orla filled the church with her hauntingly beautiful voice with no amplification. I just love her! I hate that she is no longer a part of the Celtic Woman group...her and Meav both. to me they added the more traditional element to the group, and now I feel like all the girls sound the same. i still enjoy them though...I just really wish that Orla and Meav were back.

Well, it's probabaly not that actually. It's common for video producers to replace the live audio with the studio version, so the people at the show were lucky enough to actually hear her.

Which is a shame. Orla Fallon, or really any of the women in Celtic Women are plenty talented and put on an excellent live show. Why shouldn't we get to hear them as they really sing?

what i'm image from her voice is sort of like the comment below but there is a a difference between his/her and mine. The way mine goes is that these to lovers are together but they a forbidden to see each other. so they run away and live together until one of them passed away and the girl lives alone in her house with her children and that she has to hide her sorrow away from her children so they won't feel the same pain as her.

Well anyone whos irish has Irish Warriors as ancestors and of course we have a language, it's one of the world's oldest and most difficult languages. It's very similar looking and sounding to Scots Gaelic. Read up on irish history while you're at it. Ulster Plantations and all that. I think you'll enjoy it (:

I grew up on this song.I'm fairly disappointed with this performance. It is the most heartbreaking song one can hear, if performed correctly. Orla projects a kind of delicate and rosy happiness which does not hold one's every nerve, as other performances of this song have for me. Celtic Woman is part of a larger trend to bring what are very diverse and powerful musical traditions into a pop format for easy consumption. Study the sources of these songs and you'll discover so much more.

The version she sings on her solo album is more solemn, I am in agreement with you...to know what this song is about a solemn arrangement is more fitting. I have wondered why they decided on this version and one idea I had is that Orla often sings the very traditional ballads and maybe they wanted to give her a little bit jazzier solo. Anyway, if you haven't heard the version on her solo album it's a much better arrangement than the live performance in my opinion.
