Ahahahaha you sound just like macward. Obviously you did not see the videos done my mrbit and myself showing our custom builds doing prime95 for at least 25 hours. And prime95 is much harder on the CPU than rendering in 3d or video rendering. Temperatures go much higher while doing prime95. It's more constant hard work for the CPU while rendering is a little at a time with little breaks in between. Time for data to load into ram, saving files, etc. My custom pc can prime for days no prob.
You are 1. Underestimating the reliability of a custom built pc 2. Overestimating how much of a difference there is between workstation hardware and consumer hardware. People buy workstations for the warranty, high limits of ecc ram, and multi-CPU support. And for getting many workstations that's fine, but for one personal workstation, building my own workstation adds functionality, is cheaper, and can be customizable to my needs. My next machine will be a workstation, but custom built.
BOOOOOOOOOOOORING video

You can hardly compare a custom build to ANY workstation! You can not Render for 72 hrs on a piece of shit custom build.
Workstations are designed for intense un-forgiving use. Unlike a piece of shit hardly comparable custom build.
