I'm Japanese. Fugu is a very expensive dish for average income Japanese. So only when we get paid a lots or promoted etc, we can eat them. The taste is so gooood that youd forget the poison at first bite. I didnt know a shape of fine sliced Fugu on a dish was a chrysanthemum. I dont like this reporter linked it to a flower for Japanese funeral. A chrysanthemum is like a symbol flower in Japan. The flower language is noble.

I live in Japan and I have to say that fugu sashimi (raw fugu) is pretty bland. Fugu tempura (lightly battered and deep fried) tastes better but contains a lot of small bones which left me thinking it wasn't worth the hassle. Fugu is pretty expensive as well so once you tried it I doubt you'll be in a hurry to try it again. I wasn't anyway.
