Mind you, it's doubtless the greatest English translation of the Bible ever made, but no translation is perfect, because there is often no way to fully render the meaning of the original text in another language.

Why single out this particular style of worship as "mass hypnosis"? It doesn't matter how it's done. If you're an otherwise rational adult who is convinced that a guru was once born of a virgin, walked on water, came back from the dead, and rose into the sky under his own power, then you've been hypnotized.
@sweets3000 Lucifer is a Latin name never used in the original manuscripts. "Satan" is there in original manuscripts but not Lucifer. This came as a translation afterwards
God has both male and female characteristics (eg Elohim is feminine), the patriarchal translators put in male sometimes where it's clearly gender neutral. Maybe you should look at gender inclusive translations which seek to remedy this?
@CathyFromPensacola - I think you're confusing the NWT with the NIV. I use the NIV with JWs to prove the deity of Christ quite successfully (with the Holy Spirit's enlightening working with them). I am a Trinitarian so hold dearly to the deity of Christ. In fact, the KJV has corruptions within it too. I find it incredible that people try to use tongues from the past. Read 1 Cor 14 about the usage of unintelligble tongues in church, esp when unbelievers are there.
@CathyFromPensacola These are classic verses quoted by JWs to "prove" Christians have corrupted their Bible to prove the Trinity. In fact they're not part of the majority of original Greek manuscripts. This is called the Johannine Comma - its history is worth knowing if you wish to use this argument. Using this with a JW to prove the Trinity is fruitless as it's accuracy is in question. To prove the Trinity and hence Deity of Christ, you can use many other verses in both KJV & NIV.
Use whatever version you want to, I'm not stopping you. However, I do ask why you don't go the whole hog and use ancient Aramaic, Greek and Hebrew? After all, if you want a pure version, go to the source. Of course it wouldn't be any good in outreach, but neither is a 400 year language. As a cross-cultural evangelist, I have to be contemporary / contextual in my language and frankly, if I use Thee, Thou, Verily etc, I'll lose my integrity as an obstacle remover.
@CathyFromPensacola I'm a strong believer in the Holy Trinity, but the verse you quote, 1 Jn 5.7, is not present in any Greek text prior to the Middle Ages. It is a later insertion, and while I agree with the theology, and it is consistent with what the rest of the New Testament teaches, it simply isn't what St. John wrote. Find any educated conservative Christian pastor in your area who knows Greek (as opposed to just knowing use Strong's Concordance) and he will verify this for you.
The KJV was a milestone in bringing the Bible to the people in a language they could understand 400 YEARS AGO. Language evolves, so why the need to have an understanding of a 400 year old language to be able to understand the word of God? Those who are KJV only are similar to those who tried to keep the Bible in Latin so everyday folk couldn't understand it! There are very good modern versions for people on the street. FORSOOTH, Jesus worked with the languages of His time & area, why not us? ;)

yes, we people are very susceptible to hypnosis in many aspects of our lives. it is important to maintain individuality and to think critically and not just to go with the flow. however, in my opinion, it is easy for people (including me) to go to church every week, and hear sermon and sing hymns (my church actually sings louder praise music, though not as intense as this video) and to accept everything without questioning. i guess it's human nature to go with the flow and to accept everything..

The real problem seems to be with people who will not study - and who depend on the 'Moving of the Holy Spirit' - a 'Burning in the Bosom' - or 'Powerful Preaching' to determine what they believe. I'm sure it was very moving and impressive to attend a Nazi Rally at Nuremberg - and listing to the Powerful Preaching of Adolph Hitler...

It took me over 20 years to shake off the rubbish I was taught in churches. I finally decided to forget everything I had been taught, get alone with just my Bible, reading and praying for the Lord to reveal Himself to me. Today I am fully convinced I have a real relationship with Christ. The evidence for me is a changed heart, freedom from sin, both physical and and mental, a sense of God's presence, and strength to keep me from sin. Tongues are not evidence of the Holy Spirit, holiness is.

Hitler was an evil man, the Catholic Church is a force for good. Just read the lives of the Saints to see how great Catholics are. Worship can and is done at the homes of believers, just as it was in the 1st century. Only because the overbearing tyrant that is Rome adopted the religion, do you now believe you have to worship in such material places. Alot of these "Churches" were once pagan temples to boot.

Amazing, 6 years ago i would have loved this style of worship but now it disturbs me greatly. As a musician in several full gospel churches we learned how to work a crowd to get the desired response. Music in the church is satans greatest tool to decieve followed closely by the preaching. GET OUT OF CHURCH AND SEEK GOD WITHOUT RELIGION!!!!

@ecstaticstates when peter and the deciples were speaking in tongues, the people which came from far away (other regions) understood what the deciples were saying. This means the deciples were talking in foreign structured language that they themselves not in good command of. They weren't uttering repetitious gibberish.

Mind you, it's doubtless the greatest English translation of the Bible ever made, but no translation is perfect, because there is often no way to fully render the meaning of the original text in another language.

@sweets3000 Lucifer is a Latin name never used in the original manuscripts. "Satan" is there in original manuscripts but not Lucifer. This came as a translation afterwards
God has both male and female characteristics (eg Elohim is feminine), the patriarchal translators put in male sometimes where it's clearly gender neutral. Maybe you should look at gender inclusive translations which seek to remedy this?

@CathyFromPensacola - I think you're confusing the NWT with the NIV. I use the NIV with JWs to prove the deity of Christ quite successfully (with the Holy Spirit's enlightening working with them). I am a Trinitarian so hold dearly to the deity of Christ. In fact, the KJV has corruptions within it too. I find it incredible that people try to use tongues from the past. Read 1 Cor 14 about the usage of unintelligble tongues in church, esp when unbelievers are there.

@CathyFromPensacola These are classic verses quoted by JWs to "prove" Christians have corrupted their Bible to prove the Trinity. In fact they're not part of the majority of original Greek manuscripts. This is called the Johannine Comma - its history is worth knowing if you wish to use this argument. Using this with a JW to prove the Trinity is fruitless as it's accuracy is in question. To prove the Trinity and hence Deity of Christ, you can use many other verses in both KJV & NIV.

Use whatever version you want to, I'm not stopping you. However, I do ask why you don't go the whole hog and use ancient Aramaic, Greek and Hebrew? After all, if you want a pure version, go to the source. Of course it wouldn't be any good in outreach, but neither is a 400 year language. As a cross-cultural evangelist, I have to be contemporary / contextual in my language and frankly, if I use Thee, Thou, Verily etc, I'll lose my integrity as an obstacle remover.

@CathyFromPensacola I'm a strong believer in the Holy Trinity, but the verse you quote, 1 Jn 5.7, is not present in any Greek text prior to the Middle Ages. It is a later insertion, and while I agree with the theology, and it is consistent with what the rest of the New Testament teaches, it simply isn't what St. John wrote. Find any educated conservative Christian pastor in your area who knows Greek (as opposed to just knowing use Strong's Concordance) and he will verify this for you.

The KJV was a milestone in bringing the Bible to the people in a language they could understand 400 YEARS AGO. Language evolves, so why the need to have an understanding of a 400 year old language to be able to understand the word of God? Those who are KJV only are similar to those who tried to keep the Bible in Latin so everyday folk couldn't understand it! There are very good modern versions for people on the street. FORSOOTH, Jesus worked with the languages of His time & area, why not us? ;)

Notice the music. The song does not have much of a melody. Compare it with any song you know that DOES have a melody. Amazing Grace, Star Spangled Banner, Take Me Out to The Ball Game, Aura Lee, etc.
This "music" only has three or four notes, with a heavy emphasis on rhythm. It is the kind of repetitive heartbeat sound you would hear as background for a movie that is trying to build tension.

We are supposed to test the spirits as commanded in 1 John and we are supposed to judge whether doctorine is correct. 1 Cor. 14:29 "Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge." You are instructing us to go against the a direct command about conduct in a church service. Jesus was talking about not condemning someone to hell in your mind before you have given them a time to repent.

I was brought up in a christian home and haven't really questioned my beliefs until now. But due to my upbringing I am finding it very difficult to evaluate my beliefs and to ascertain my identity. @foltaj Agree. We are told in scripture to 'believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God' (1 John 4:1). This is our responsibility. We must maintain our focus on the LORD Jesus Christ to have the peace of God. Reading the King James version vs all the modern (even the NKJ) I believe greatly helps. Bottom line, we must trust the Holy Spirit to convict us and lead us unto truth daily. Those who do not love the truth will most likely be deceived. Thank you for your comment!

The NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV and co. rip the precious words "THROUGH HIS BLOOD" out. Friend, salvation is only "THROUGH HIS BLOOD". That old song says, "What can wash away my sins, NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD OF JESUS!"

It is NOT written in Isaiah! "I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way" - is found in Malachi 3:1! The King James correctly reads: "As it is written in the PROPHETS, . . ."

I have read all the other versions and now I prefer the kjv because I no longer want to be deceived. God will lead those who love the Truth by His Holy Spirit. yes, we people are very susceptible to hypnosis in many aspects of our lives. it is important to maintain individuality and to think critically and not just to go with the flow. however, in my opinion, it is easy for people (including me) to go to church every week, and hear sermon and sing hymns (my church actually sings louder praise music, though not as intense as this video) and to accept everything without questioning. i guess it's human nature to go with the flow and to accept everything..

My Pastor/Teacher/Shepherd is the LORD Jesus Christ.
My day begins with worship in my living as I get on my knees, sing songs to the LORD and pray followed by reading a few chapters of my King James Bible.
Then throughout the day as lead by the Holy Spirit, I share the Gospel with folks and seek to please the LORD Jesus Christ, my Redeemer, my LORD, my God, my King, my Saviour, my EVERYTHING!!!!

If someone engages in devotional study (especially of the Teachings of Jesus) and academic research - the 'worship experience' is not likely to lead them astray. The real problem seems to be with people who will not study - and who depend on the 'Moving of the Holy Spirit' - a 'Burning in the Bosom' - or 'Powerful Preaching' to determine what they believe. I'm sure it was very moving and impressive to attend a Nazi Rally at Nuremberg - and listing to the Powerful Preaching of Adolph Hitler...

The REAL danger of bringing in worldly music into the church is that the congregation often gets “stoked up” on the tunes and they believe what they are feeling is the H.S. and the blessing of God upon their lives. Thus, they believe God is vindicating what they are doing.
Make a joyful noise, yes. Make a worldly, sensual, “shake your bootie” noise, not in my Bible.

Subconsciously, they recall their state of mind from previous services and respond according to the post-hypnotic programming. People waiting for the service to begin may exhibit external signs of trancebody relaxation and slightly dilated eyes.

It took me over 20 years to shake off the rubbish I was taught in churches. I finally decided to forget everything I had been taught, get alone with just my Bible, reading and praying for the Lord to reveal Himself to me. Today I am fully convinced I have a real relationship with Christ. The evidence for me is a changed heart, freedom from sin, both physical and and mental, a sense of God's presence, and strength to keep me from sin. Tongues are not evidence of the Holy Spirit, holiness is.

@cutterhouse The word 'church' meand 'the called out ones'. Church is not a building nor an event; it is the people; born-again believers in and followers of the LORD Jesus Christ are the church. Sadly today, much of the 'organized church' is apostate. Scripture doesn't say we have to go to church but rather in Luke 10 we are told to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and love our neighbor as ourself. Each should obey whatever the Holy Spirit is leading us to do.

Hitler was an evil man, the Catholic Church is a force for good. Just read the lives of the Saints to see how great Catholics are. The reason for the mass is to celebrate Jesus' death and resurrection, it's a celebration of faith. St. John wrote about the mass in revelations, it's incredible that it hasn't changed much in 1977 years. It is studying the scripture and then with the Holy Spirit taking a step back in time into calvary which transcends time.

Amazing, 6 years ago i would have loved this style of worship but now it disturbs me greatly. As a musician in several full gospel churches we learned how to work a crowd to get the desired response. Music in the church is satans greatest tool to decieve followed closely by the preaching. GET OUT OF CHURCH AND SEEK GOD WITHOUT RELIGION!!!!

I am a born-again Christian who USED to speak in tongues until I realized it was babbling nonsense and not the true gift of speaking in tongues which is a real language.
Friend, I got saved over 30 years ago alone in my living room and my salvation is based on faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and the Word of God.
I have to wonder where is the fruit of the Spirit in your life (love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance) with your rude comments to me?

@ecstaticstates when peter and the deciples were speaking in tongues, the people which came from far away (other regions) understood what the deciples were saying. This means the deciples were talking in foreign structured language that they themselves not in good command of. They weren't uttering repetitious gibberish.

They came back here and declared him a prophet to the church. I understand what you mean when you speak of the gift of tongues. I know the Holy Spirit is with me, but I've never erupted into tongues....

@CathyFromPensacola .. It is a dangerous claim to make that one can only be filled with the Holy Spirit based on an episode of Speaking in Tongues. My mother does this and it's the same thing she heard 20+ years ago from another woman. She uses the same sounds over and over and I just find it hard to believe she's communicating in a language. It's like "Hooldieo Kahta ahdelmbimia"..something or other.

My Aunt will not speak to me because I emplored her not to put her faith in "Brother Todd" as she called him, to heal her 40 yr old mentally handicapped son. But they prayed to the Tv every night.
