My husband, our daughter and I are going to live in a '57 Boles Aero this summer, while we restore it. It is awesome to see these old trailers and how people lived in them! I like the part about the housewife having leisure time because there isn't much to clean :D
Nice old video. Gives a glance back to the old days of rving. I bet it was both fun and annoying at the same time. Most those trailers probably didn't have showers or toilets and I bet there was little to no insulation. However they were basically pioneers of their time.
A lot cheaper than that... when I was in my early teens gasoline was 20 cents a gallon, and down to 18 cents a gallon when stations had "gas wars" going.
We are the last generation to have the opportunity to live like this. When gas is $8 a gallon, few will travel. And if they do, it will be with smaller, lighter camper trailers. Thanks for showing a bit of what it was like in the begining.
we complain about gas being a lot..but we never complained about spending 40-50 thousand on ONE luxury vehicle ! With 50k one could drive a car a long, long time..even at 10$ a gallon.
True only for some: as I said, people will have to return to smaller travel trailers. The monsters that people use these days are done. But only for the richer "middle" class. For people like me, working class who make $14k a year, the days of carefree travel are over.
I love this! I am getting an rv and going on the road when winter is over!!! I am so excited that I was looking for videos about rv lifestyle and found this. How fun is this video!? Thanks for posting it! Peace and Blessings, Angie
Interesting how the basic premise of full-time RVing has changed very little over the years. We still have daily lives and chores, follow the sun, and hitch up when the spirit moves us. However, today most of us do it out of a desire for freedom rather than an economic choice. Great vid!!
Makes me glad to be a camper in the 21st century!!

As much as $8,000 in 1937, wow that would be what today, like $250,000? You could buy a house for about $5,000 back then!

yep..i don't make much more than that either..i understand all too well. I was referring to the "other sect" of "california"
that doesn't bat an eye spending 30,40,50k on cars. ( i won't even go into housing)
