  • im looking for the video where brigitte bardot says that she used to love serge gainsbourg. that once in life, you meet somebody very special to you, and for her it was serge gainsbourg. does anybody know the video?

  • Such a talented songwriter ending up like a low-life. Wasted, surrounded by cheesey male ''choir''. True pity. Excellent song though, astonishing dynamics.

  • love this song

  • She was seduced by Gunter Sachs. He courted his second wife, Brigitte Bardot, by flying over her villa on the French Riviera in a helicopter and dropping hundreds of roses.

  • Why did BBs and Serges relation end?

  • Fantastic to see this. Amazing testament to living dreams in spite of nightmares.

    Thanks for your efforts!

  • LOOL genre brigitte bardot c george sand^^

  • my favorite Serge Gainsbourg song!

  • i'm korean fan c'est bien !!

  • ALMERIA !!!!

  • he is really burned,,,by love...

  • Almeria is a city in Spain. Brigitte Bardot went there to film the movie 'Shalako' with Sean Connery, - "Almeria" was for Serge the very word that broke their relationship.

  • Almeria ? what about Almeria ? can anybody translate for me whats about Almeria ?

  • @cassanbleu bonne question ^^

  • What is the name of this documental?

  • @recontrachismoso BB en chansons

  • the 11 people who disliked this where the back up singers who I killed

  • @pSmall360 Really? Eleven homicides under your belt? Dahmer killed 16 backing singers. And he ate their remains.

  • Yes, but who would know what "water of seltz" means? Translation is not about doing a literal translation but also about conveying the meaning.

  • @VancePackardTV it's quite impossible to translate poetry

  • the translator made a mistake : gainsbourg doesn't sing " in the bubbles of alka seltzer" but in "water of seltz".

  • @solidsnook Of course, translation requires you to be able to translate literally but in the end it must make sense in the translated language: "water of seltz" means sod-all.

After all, how would you translate idioms from one language to another?

  • Good video. Thanks Harry.

  • Amen to that Iceman

  • R.I.P serge you're the best for always...

  • wow !!

  • Man, that was great!!

  • Thanks for uploading. Serge is one of the greatest songwriters of his time or any time. It's nice to hear what the ladies had to say about him. France Gall has a funny story about one of the only times she actually went out with him. She and the party they were with, finished the evening hunting for him under the tables of the club! He was absolutely French and absolutely unique. Bravo Serge. RIP.

  • genius.

  • jarvis cocker has no talent and should`nt even be mentioned near serge he is a WANKER!!!!!!!!

  • capoooo!

  • You can convert this to an mp3 at instantmp3s..com

  • i agree about the influence on jarvis

  • where's the face of the model? so many medal she has! along with the song. she must be happy. the english subtitle more sophisticated than the friench words

  • this guy has a sexy ass voice

  • Very nice and well done, thank you so much for history in Paris culture!

  • INITIALS BB

  • There's more than a bit of Jarvis Cocker in this.

  • @IHateTheBBC there's more than a bit of Gainsbourg in Jarvis Cocker ^^

  • @florenzaccio1 Jarvis's dancing sequence seems to me resembles a robot mimicking Serge. Of course no offense meant, they are both great.

  • If you like Serge Gainsbourg, there is a great film about him

    gainsbourg-lefilm

  • @klimkovsky are you referring to the one that came out this year?

  • @TRESBELA Yes, Gainsbourg (Vie héroïque) directed by Joann Sfar.

  • I think Bridget has a tattoo somewhere on her body with the intials B.B - listen to what she says at the end of clip - 'This Song Must Remain A Mystery' - Does anyone know how close to a Vagina one can get a tattoo

  • @FergusUpNorth she hasn't any tatto!

  • I love how he was so ahead of his time and kept changing with the times.

  • Mythique

  • a masterpiece write after bardot break the heart of gainsbourg

  • the background music or this song is totally his creation or izzit taken from another piece of classical music? cuz it sounds real familiar to me even though i hav not heard of this guy before!

  • He was inspired by A New world Symphony of Dvorak

  • @redfox04 Dvorak - From the New World - First Movement

  • I'm very pleased to see how many english speaking persons know him

  • @fullgenomealchemist he is a great gift

  • @fullgenomealchemist Hes lovley! When I worked as a dj in Sweden and I used to play his songs and people was like "What the fuck is this?!?!"

I love his music so badly. vent to Paris for a few days ago, running around like a maniac after his vinyls and cds ;P

  • Belle traducton - bravo.

  • Pure class!

  • oh yes with subtitles! wondeful

  • I don't think she exaggerate, she means the effect G. Sand had over Chopin, no that she was like G Sand

  • BB stands for Brigitte Bardot. He dedicated her this song after the end of their relationship.

  • pure talent

  • Almeria!

  • a real poet

  • The Fuc&ing master

  • Marvelous...

and the subtitles are greatly appreciated!

  • submarine

  • Sorry to change the subject, but can anyone post Serge's brilliant song "Aeroplanes"?

  • I heard about this the other night, great song!

Morrisey did an interview and played some records on BBC Radio 2 on the 21st of October, The Janice Long Show if anyone wants to look it up on BBC onine - great interview and fantastic song choices. Good old Mozza :)

  • don't speak french, never known what the song was about. that footage has just broken my heart and blown my mind at the same time.

  • voila d'ou vien le "bb" de bb brunes

  • on le sait et on s'en tape

  • "on le sait et on s'en tape" => le BB des bbbrunes

  • hello! i used to love this film. i don't remember exactly but it had name 'BB en chansons' or something like this. i wonder who performed the song 'Brigitte Bardot' when the film was ending. do you have any idea?

  • Does anyone know what ALMERIA means? It was not translated on the vid, but I suppose it is a French word. I would like to know.

  • ALMERIA : Spanish city in Andalucia (south Spain )

  • Almeria is a spanish city, but, most of all, the title of the film BB went to play in when she dumped him - It was for Serge the very word that broke their relationship.

  • Wow, thanks so much for that info..this is quite an interesting love story!!

He was truly amazing and it is always a pleaure to listen to his wonderful music. Thanks for this video.

  • I speak French, but thanks for the subtitles, "quand meme." What a lot of love he left us, eh? With that beautiful music!

  • wonderful, it's always with pleasure i listen to gainsbourg

    serge is the best

  • fantastic serge

  • Just terrific SERGE!!!!!!

  • This is one of the greatest pieces of Serge content I've yet seen posted. Harry UHF is a Genius! Give us more just like this one!

  • this is a great video, Thanks for posting it, il etaiat aun genie!

  • Brigitte just continued becoming more and more beautiful, didn't she? I don't think she ever lost her looks. Today she looks as a beautiful, old, NATURAL woman does. No botox, lifts, tucks. She doesn't fear age, but embraces it. Moreover, she isn't at all superficial and her concerns are of important matters. What could be more beautiful? In vanity, lies ugliness. In heart/soul/mind, there is nothing but purity.♥

  • Brigitte just continued becoming more and more UGLIERl, didn't she? I think she lost her looks. Today she looks horrible, old, NATURAL woman does. No botox, lifts, tucks. She doesn't fear age, but embraces it. Moreover, she is superficial and her concerns are of not important matters. What could be more shallow? In vanity, lies ugliness. In heart/soul/mind, there is nothing but purity b ut she is hateful homofobic and bitter, all the opposite of MONROE

  • go to hell loba no wonder the call you the wolf in you tube , you are an impostor and a hacker low life ,bardot is the most beautiful woman that ever existed

  • you are very stupid bardot is forever

  • WHATT???

    Bardot is natural?

    Is it really true?

  • Brilliant song....look out for Australian Mick Harvey's bril;liant english version...wish I could find the clip.

  • if you go to mick harveys web site, you'll find the video clip :) . i first saw his clip in a dreamy haze watching 'rage' late one night some years ago, and only just last week discovered it was a cover of serge (all i remembered of the lyrics was something about bb!)

    wonderful stuff, old and new...

  • I love you for this. What a dream, my favorite song!

  • the refrain is inspired by Dvorak "symphonie du nouveau monde" (witch is beautiful, i can't but advise you to get it...Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95, also called the New World Symphony)

THANX harryuhf! & let me know if i can send you a video-response...

  • Sure send a video response. I don't get to the computer as often now.

  • it's good to have subtitle for those who don't know his work.

Anyway there are few things to know :

he wrote this song on Brigitte Bardot after they broke, the first lines refers to "The Raven" by E.A.Poe (witch ends by "nevermore..."), "monstruous love" by Pauwels was then the favorite book of B.B. whom went to the town of Almeria (for a film) when she left him, "platinum rings...marks of slavery" is of course about her marriages he links to slavery

  • if you want to see the whole making of (from the excerpt we see at the begining), take a look at my page [or column beside]_ i d like to make a video response, but i don't know if one video can be a video-response to several ones (tell me please if you know something about)

  • Man, he was a genius! he has this very special and unique style of being a sublime philosopher and a sublime artist at the same time!

  • piekne!

  • thank you too.

  • Thanks for this=)
