yeah it is i have same thingin mine i got decrative fishing net from micheals (canadian store) my hermits love to climb it and it also holds water well (for moisture) without growing mold.

my mom is very cheep and only got me a 10 gallon

and when they get really big shes giving them away ='[ shes so weird she only wants the small ones. She said there my responsibilty yet so wont buy me more sand and i said i will pay for it, shes just so lazy
