I asked myself, if I had no knowledge about the technical aspects of great singing, what might I say about Kathleen Battle's singing?.... I'd say, Oh my goodness!!! Her voice sweeps me off my feet and transports me to the celestial planes. Ahh!!!!

@SuperLmer O come on. Is that because they are both Americans? Seriously. I like her a lot also. There are plenty of good sopranos around. It is not like there is a "stand out". With men, it is different. There is Caruso and the rest. Neither Callas or Battle are in this class. I personally like Popp better, and many would agree. I like Battle, but she is not special.

Their have been many, many divas at the Met, and all have been great pains in the collective arse; however, none has been treated as poorly as Kathleen Battle.

She should have been forgiven her hubris, if you will, and allowed to stay.

She lent a talent and beauty to the stage at the Met that has not been seen since.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her but regardless of how much talent and skill with which you have been blessed, all persons are entitled to a basic level of dignity. It's sad when phenomenal artists get besides themselves and become monsters (not saying this is the case here).
