@Raindropser3 The only problem some of the songs ain't on there and grace of my heart which is awesome isn't on there either. neither is hey there. But still a good album /
Just adding my 2 cents here. I love this movie as well. When I feel the need to right myself I listen to these songs. There is something so special about it.
I love this movie too! The music itself is a major character in this film. The songs created for the film were written by Joni Mitchell, Bert Bacharach, Elvis Costello...to name a few. That's why it's so great!!! Great song writing = great music.
I can't get enough of this movie or the music. I LOVE THIS FILM! Why can't they make more like this? Dynamite casting and intelligent story line. Great "cuddle on the sofa" date film. This is in my DVD collection to stay.
@Raindropser3 I like this film too, just as I like a lot of the music of this period, but where on earth did you get the idea that the Brill Building was about making music for the sake of music? Even this movie makes it absolutely clear that it was a business first, and if you managed to make good music as well, that was a bonus. Popular music in the recording era has always been driven by bottom line, because it took record companies to distribute records. That's only beginning to change now.
@Raindropser3 The Supremes were as deliberately groomed as any other pop group ever, in order to appeal to the maximum possible audience. The most famous example of a band allowing an outsider to change their image is of course the Beatles; if they hadn't listened to Brian Epstein, they would never have had the cross-generational appeal that they did have. They also made great music, but choreographed stage movements and wearing suits instead of leathers were crucial to their success.
I remember first seeing a clip of this movie on VH1 and then watching it on Netflix. It's a beautiful movie with wonderfully crafted music and lyrics that always touch my heart when I hear them. Thank you for posting these clips from the movie, Raindropser3!
Yeah..this movie about Carol Kings life story and the beginning of the 60s
should be seen in every music school to show, how the music business was
in the beginning.
But for me personally it´s such a great gift to me from Miss Allison Anders,
who was the producer of this movie, that she allowed me to upload these parts of the movie and gave me personally the permission to share it here on You Tube.
my favorite movie ever...seen it years ago and never realized the comfort it would someday give me..i find myself listening to it to fall asleep, im divorcing after 18 yrs and now i feel like there are still other good people out there...thanks
@4Peace4All You asked:"Who is "Miss Allison Anders', whose "heart" you refer to above?" Miss Anders´s idea was it , to make this movie. She wrote the book. She was the "good ghost" behind this project. You can watch her like she looks, if you go to my channel side- the 2.& 3. icon from the left side-that´s she. If you want to listen to her voice, than click on the icons. The clips: "GRACE OF MY HEART - A JOURNEY" shows, how the movie was made. Thanks for your comment !!! Rainy.
@Raindropser3 I already answered my own question about who she is, but thanks. Also, "Grace of My Heart" is one of my favorite movies, and my email addy it taken from the song you posted which I know by heart. Look right below and you'll see I answered my own questions re Anders.

The CHARACTERS are missing today in the music business,my friend.:-).
In THOSE years of Carol King, Phil Spector & all the others MUSIC was made
because of the MUSIC....not because of the money or the image.
Such CHARACTERS NEVER NEEDED A CASTING SHOW.
Or do You believe the Supremes or The Beatles
would have ANY chance in our modern casting shows in our TVs...???...
