That's what I thought, but in the context of the game it really works. It grows on you once you get past the initial reaction. Well, that's the case for me and a lot of others - I'm sure it's not for everybody.
Whether a game is popular or not doesn't bother me, it's the actual gameplay and story that does. There's no point in getting worked up over "tru fanz lol" because it's stupid. It's good that the games are getting noticed for their greatness.

I can kind of agree with brock15.... i knew of the SMT series with Nocturne and no one seemed to care about it when it back then, but once P3 comes everyone goes crazy over it.
I like P3 and P4, but my heart still stays with Nocturne and the non-Persona games.
Tomenaki basically summed it up, Though i think persona 1 and 2 are OK, just because those wre lesser known as well. Other than nocturne i also liked Shin megami tensei II, kind of hard though and I didnt get very far, but it was still good, DDS is still my favorite game though.
I played Lucifer's Call and Digital Devil Saga before I even knew the Persona series existed, but in all honesty I prefer the Persona series. Though I like all the Megaten games, I find the battles system to be a litlle... Stilted sometimes. I think Persona is more popular because it's like the halfway mark that bridges the gap between mainstream RPG's and the other Megami Tensei games.
Understandable, that is the truth of the matter, Im not to fond of most mainstream stuff, I do even really so much care about SMT getting popular as I do about the older games not gettign the props they deserve sometimes, I just hate how newer games get crazy praise while the other stuff gets shut down or something of that nature i mean.

This song never really grew on me. I think it was the vocals that threw me off. The intro's great, but it just gets worse from there..

I find P4 better than P3. But prefer the setting of P3 than in P4. IMO.
