Fundie logic: Reluctance to give land to groups that won't pay their fair share of taxes equals intolerance for religion. No, it equals intolerance for those who want special rights to shirk on sharing the burden with everyone else! Voters decide which programs should and shouldn't be funded (by extension, how high taxes should be), but it's only fair for everyone to contribute to however high or low those expenses ultimately are. I shouldn't pay higher taxes to cover your church's fair share!
I suspect that after they were finished crying about tolerance, they went on to discuss how they can organize the religious folks to ban gay marriage.
No... I will not be tolerant of religions that preach intolerance, hate, sexism, racism, division and promote ignorance. When the Pope says that wearing condoms are a sin... and AIDS spreads like wildfire in Africa... no... I won't be tolerant. When mega churches gather millions and millions of dollars together to prevent two people who love each other from getting married... no... I won't be tolerant.
Religion is sick and twisted and no longer applies to modern society.
Unfortunately, churches have earned the wrath and frustration of people. For many years, churches have been harsh and oppressive to people they did not like. That is coming back to haunt them. I would like to see churches pay taxes, not as an issue of revenge, but as a way of showing that all groups have some responsibility to give back to the community.
It's only an affront to religious freedom when it's Christian Churches that attract hostility, right? After all, this same group has made no secret of their opposition to building an Islamic Mosque in New York City.
It puts he lotion on it's skin or else it gets the hose again.... your damn right we keep them separate from or government. We don't want their money, and they for damn sure better not take ours.
Sorry, but who told you that this was supposed to be an age of blind, unquestioning tolerance? If you act like an asshole, you're not entitled to respect
There are over 450,000 churches in the United States! Why are you bitching because (supposedly) some city governments may not want more? Don't you guys have enough?
GOD! The audacity of these people and their constant persecution complex. YOU GUYS are in the driver's seat here! 85-90% of Americans believe in God, and the vast majority are Christians. To this day, an atheist could not run for president and get a majority of support. What the fuck do you have to bitch about?
@whoo689 If you're not willing to uphold the first amendment for religious people, don't whine about the separation of church and state when they want to stick the 10 Commandments in your legislature. The government CAN NOT discriminate on the basis of religion.
Modern atheists are, for the most part, hypocrites when it comes to free speech and religious freedom. It's a sad fact.
@whoo689 hey, more media driven whoooeee. practicing christians represent 50% at best in mo opinion. the rest are just arm chair quaterbacks, ask them a question about the bible and they dont have an answer. Any psuedochristians you know, just ask them to read leviticus 11-11-18 Then ask them how that shrimp tastes, and mention that they are going to hell. It's an abomination, just like homosexuality is. What a damn joke, oh and dont eat no pig either, and if your a mormon you cant drink coffee
Hostility towards religion, it's because religion is hostile towards humanity, human rights... and it's stupid to..... even worse than that, religion is scam.
Ohh really.. The god of the Abrahamic religions is the biggest idiot in all fiction... one have to be really gullible and greedy to fall for so obvious scam.
Really, Donald Duck as a god.. living on the dark side of the moon makes more sense.
I'm hostile towards you guys. Explain oil, fossils, dinosaurs, mitrochondrial DNA. You cannot, none of you ever have, ignore it, it will go away. Why do you guys not love muslims. same god. idiots. religious folks are....idiots.

Christianity is an oppressive totalitarian religion. That's why it eventually must be done away with.

The answer is simple, have churchs's and religious structures to pay property taxes. Then the towns will not have any excuses.
