Jessica, that's exactly what I talk about in the book. The four steps I outline are all about coming in with the right energy, because the audience and you are connecting unconsciously even before you open your mouth.

This is all very good and true information, however,I'd say carrying the energy into the room and generating the energy of your core speech in your body and mind, before you even step in front of the audience is key. Facial expression is important too...smiling or at least enjoying the words and allowing the essence of whay you are saying to shine through.
