  • one problem: how do u join 2 groups?

  • i figure its just as easy if not easier to make a new window for related tabs. but nifty nonetheless, id probably use it if for nothing other than novelty.

  • An empty tab group should be already available to hint new users that -somethingcanbedonehere-

  • Or you can use Collapse Tab Stack built into Opera.

  • This feature sucks ass...knew I shouldn't have updated, I can't use my colored self-organizing (based on domains) tab-addon anymore? well fuck you mozilla. There's no need to fucking reinvent the wheel jerkoffassholes...

  • Stolen from OPERA!!

  • ppl wants fast and light browser not like make 50 groups sit back and organize.....

  • i cant understand why people would want to open so many tabs in their browser that they actually have to make groups to help them remember what they are for !!

  • Does It Save Your Groups?

  • I like it.. very similar to Fences which does a similar thing with your deaktop in Windows7. And with the price of RAM these days you should have at least 6Gb and be running a 64bit OS to enjoy it.

  • Who cares if it eats my ram? I've got 8GB! Eat all you want!

I'm using FF4 now on my first day and it's brillant! Panoramic tabs is awesome!

  • @TreyArc FF4 is actually eating less ram than say - chrome.

  • I Love this! :3

  • for windows, it is ctrl+shift+e in final version

  • Mal wieder viel zu kompliziert =(

  • It's not Ctrl+Space for me, it's Ctrl+Shift+E

This is really good for High Res photos...when I have a bunch of those open they either don't load or kill my computer. It'll be really useful for my dad as well. I've seen him with 50+ tabs open because of his job.

If you don't think this feature is useful don't use it.

  • @tjc232323 It used to be Ctrl+Space, was then changed to Ctrl+E and has been Ctrl+Shift+E for a while now. Possibly so it doesn't conflict with other hotkeys across different platforms.

  • How do you get the panorama box in the windows. I don't see the button.

  • This should be kept as an add-on, or an option you can turn of in which doing so would save on memory and performance (whether it has a small impact or not).

  • @Drumstix42 Firefox menu/options/toolbar layout... and then you just drag the button into the pop-up window, and you shouldn't have panorama anymore. Anyway, if you don't use it, I see no reason it should take over a Kb, or even that.

  • where did it go with beta 10? :(

  • @saske23b

it is still there but for some reason the button is not in place by default. You will have to drag it out from the customization (where all the buttons are hiding). Just click the orange firefox button than options and click on the very last option.

  • @SpikeSpiegel29 Thank you very much, I love this feature! <3

  • Is there a hotkey for the button? I'd like to be able to switch between groups of tabs with one button.

  • on the other hand it already came in handy for me.

  • "in this case, i want to group all my pictures of space"

sounds like an everyday situation lol

  • love this feature..but time will tell how useful it actually is..

  • ok to me this is a completely useless and over the top so you can see your tabs in a pretty way...i usually have at least 10-12 tabs open and I have never had a problem seeing as i have the ability to read...but i digress I guess stupid people need to browse the web too...

  • @biggyblack648 Please climb out of your backside.

It may not have occurred to you that not everyone uses the browser in the same way as you do. I currently have over 30 tabs open, and regularly get up to in excess of 60 tabs.

With this large number of tabs, I use separate windows with multiple tabs in, maybe one window with multiple tabs for research on the Cold War, another for general browsing and so on. Tab groups like those in the video might be useful for such occasions.

  • @biggyblack648 It's going to be useful in that I can have one window open but within in that window I can have school related tabs clumped together (since I'm taking online classes) and my other tabs regarding entertainment or social sites clumped together and then as the video shows I can make the less important groups less prominent but not have to close them out completely. Can you explain how having groups of tabs together means inability to read? Because that's a moronic statement...

  • This looks so bloated and needless, Opera's tab stacking is way better and neater.

  • Kind of useful for me since I usually have more that 10 tabs open at a time.

Have not felt the impact on ram yet.

Now just wish they would finally update firebug so that I can finally switch to FF4 completely.

  • Important Suggestion: If it's not already there, add a way to open the last active tab of the group.

  • oh my god! firefox slowdown my computer and take away too much ram capacity!

  • unneeded

  • I agree with jhtrico. I prefer ctrl+e for search and ctrl+space for panorama.

  • I don't appreciate it stealing the search shortcut ctrl+e.

  • why is it that my keyboard shortcut to Panorama is command+e

    I'd prefer option+space

  • @Skad8erateher you can search with the shortcut command+f

  • How do I actually find the hotkeys for switching between groups of tabs? Documentation on panorama is really hard to find.

  • Now then, Apple, can you step up and make Safari do this ...mmm, I wonder ;-)

10/10 to the FF team, nice one folk(s); Aza.

  • really cool for those of us who insist of keeping 25+ tabs per window perpetually open. actually, it's long overdue. what's the verdict on appetite for ram?

  • Eat that Chrome!

  • Its beautiful!!

  • A key element to Panorama is going to be whether it can save tabs.

  • A desktop metaphor? This would be good for Chrome OS.

  • Nelly sad: Man-eater!

And now we can say -> RAM eater :D

  • This kicksass.

  • It's a great idea, but I'm more inclined to use separate browser windows to keep topics separate.

  • I don't see how this is any easier than using multiple windows with multiple tabs in each.

  • tab candy is a better name

  • Comment removed

  • This is a pretty neat tool but like other members have said, there's a lot of clicking to go around groups you want to view. They should make shortkeys or hotkeys even to quickly jump through the groups of tabs you want.

  • @DemiSouls I agree with you. But with the hotkey ctrl+spacebar to view panorama it isn't that bad

  • This is a good feature, but it eats up RAM too much. And of course, there are still bugs...

  • what's the point from this feature !؟

  • pointless and why firefox mac version looks different than windows firefox ui

  • cool. so now you can separate work and porn easily

  • @BG7YKTI Lmao

  • If you dont like it please send feedback so Mozilla can fix it.

  • too much clicking.

  • Would be better if the Panorama could group the tabs in the same subdomains automatically.

  • @VovoKrall A plugin idea no doubt.

  • Very nice for working, thanks a lot !

  • @nobocks is Firefox 4 out?

  • @Willowman100 no, but the beta version is. i'm downloading now 4.0 beta 4.

  • Beautiful..... ♥ !

  • Wow.. it's almost like the extension TabGroupsManager which came out.. 2 years ago

  • Just got Firefox 4!

  • Mozilla FTW!

  • good idea!

  • hmm looks very similar to Google Chrome...

  • خاصيه جميله ومفيده

    شكرا لكم

  • @ali4ever8 Shukran!

  • Oh. Forgot to say in my last comment that this could be useful, but it's basically another version of switch to tabs. They're both the same thing except Panorama is easier to use.

  • @TheIphonesonicfan2 Could you spam this video with anymore comments? Anyway, you can add the button by right clicking an empty space, customize, and adding the button. You can customize all the buttons, probably why some weren't there. Someone interested in a beta should know this kind of basic stuff

  • Oh, when I did panorama, the plus button, give feedback button, reset button, and the other button on the lower right side of the video weren't there. I bet in the next beta, a new feature will be an improved version of panorama.

  • Wait, ignore that last comment. It works. The only way it works though is to do alt then space. The other way doesn't work for me.

  • I know panorama is in firefox 4 beta 4. It's just that whenever I try it, it doesn't work. Perhaps a bug if it works for someone else using a mac.

  • actually panorama is included... however it seems we didnt get the cool button to access from one click, is either right click on a tab, or the key shorcuts that are said in the video

  • @TeeBeeNZ Really? I have beta 4 on my mac and it doesn't have Panorama. I would make a video proving that this is beta 4 and I don't have it but I don't know how to record my screen. If anyone could tell me how, I will do a review of firefox 4 beta 4.

  • PART 3 OF MY LAST COMMENT

But when I right click on a tab, there is a button that is a shortcut to Panorama and let's me create a new group. But instead, it either takes to a different tab that is open, closes the tab I was just on then takes me to another tab, or just stays on the current tab I am using. So please re-release this with Panorama or just say it's not a finished feature called Panorama and will be available in the next beta.

  • PART 2 OF MY LAST COMMENT

And also at the beginning of the video, he says that you already discovered panorama. I also have a mac, downloaded beta 4 and I see nothing. And there at the beginning of the video, it says "Minefield Start Page" when it should say thank you for downloading firefox 4 beta 4.

  • WAIT 1 SECOND! You said that Panorama is in Firefox 4 beta 4. But on the top in Panorama, it says "Minefield Tab Sets". Shouldn't it say "Firefox Tab Sets"? This is obviously a trunk of beta 5. So you tricked us by saying that Panorama is in firefox 4 beta 4 when it's not. Everybody who reads this comment, if you have your hands on firefox 4 beta 4, do a review of it and say that panorama is supposed to be added but wasn't. Spread the word until Mozilla knows about this.

  • @TheIphonesonicfan2 Actually it is in beta 4.

  • Awesome feature :)

  • Pointless!

  • pointless?

  • That's pretty cool - I don't know how much I would use that feature though (I use Firefox 3.6.8.)

  • Panorama = TabCandy?

  • @caltake1 | Yep, it finally landed in the beta.

  • @caltake1 yea

  • Really not needed...

  • @NotYouTeeHee | People didn't think they would need tabs at all before they came out.

  • Seems nice but useless for me because I at most have 4 tabs up.

  • I have a feeling that this will eat your ram. Om-nom-nom-nom.

  • @TheBoredSwede I have a feeling 4 GB is standard now, so crying about RAM is retarded.

  • @ShadowwwLFS Thing is were not talking about the usual old "Oh, no Fx uses 350 MB of RAM" we're talking "Holy potato, My Firefox is consuming 2.5 GB of RAM" and this, even thou its a fantastic feature, won't help.

  • @TheBoredSwede FYI 32-bit apps can't use more than 2 GB of RAM.

  • @ShadowwwLFS @ShadowwwLFS Yeah, but luckily for us Fx is now split into two, which both consume ram like crazy.

  • @TheBoredSwede Blame Adobe for memory usage by plugin-container.exe, it's caused by Flash not by Firefox.

  • @TheBoredSwede I've been running over 300 tabs in groups since this update, all I can say is it is just brilliant. I'm already unsure how to do without it.

The one downside though, is the ram. Its currently using 1.3gb of it. Although, at the moment with closer to 400 tabs that is still pretty good in my book.

  • @TheBoredSwede

it uses very little actually....though it's not very impressive the pics are very low res and the videos don't actually play....

  • @TheBoredSwede wtf?ram is cheaper than tai hooker...

  • @TheBoredSwede Not really. Firefox 4 has better RAM management. It's definitely not worse than just having all those tabs open.

I still do not like that groups are only available in the panorama, though. It's really easy to forget about the windows you can't see. I'm not sure how the actual function is any different from being able to open multiple windows, and at least you couldn't accidentally close those.

  • great
