  • Hello, I was wondering if you can/should use peels on flaking skin. I have really dry skin & no matter how much I moisturize this winter,it just doesn't seem to be enough. Will a peel remove the dead/flaky skin or do more harm than good? Thank you! :)

  • @DontCallMeCharminCCC Hi! You can use peels as long as your skin is not broken, irritated or inflamed. Alpha Hydroxy Acids (glycolic, lactic, mandelic) are great for exfoliating dry skin and will help stimulate collagen production too. Moisturizers & serums absorb better after using peels. My skin has been so much healthier, softer & smoother since using AHAs. My maintenance peel of choice is mandelic twice a week. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have more questions!

  • Thank you so much for doing this video Dina....your vids are always so informative...I look forward to seeing the results after a month....I watched all the vids and WOW what a difference. Like I have said, I am still plucking up the courage to do a peel...I think I would benefit, but I want to start with a mild one and not sure where to start!!! xx

  • Thank you very much for the reply Dina... I really appreciate it. Will keep you posted on my first experience with the Mandelic chemical peel :)

  • @MsGirisha You are so welcome! Yes, please keep me updated on your chemical peels! :) Take care!

  • Hi Dina, Hope u r doing good with peel. Thanks for sharing this video. I have actually ordered the 12.5% TCA and Mandelic peels a week ago and waiting for the shipment to reach me. I may be trying them by next week. Can you please tel me what antibiotic cream u have used on this video? I don't have one, so can i use aloe vera gel instead of that? Just one more question, I have a large pustule right now on my cheek. can i try this peel when I have my acne breakouts? Thanks.

  • @MsGirisha Hi! Everything is going pretty well, thanks! I just used a store brand Triple Antibiotic Ointment (from Rite Aid). Other drugstores and Walmart carry their own ointments too. MUAC instructions mention Neosporin and Bacitracin. I have never used aloe vera gel during a peel so I can't really recommend it. Any type of chemical peel should not be used on broken skin because it will do damage to your skin, may cause scarring or post inflammatory hyperpigm, and will hurt like crazy. (con't)

  • @MsGirisha I have used a Mandelic peel over active pimple (not broken skin) and they got dried up during the process. From the MUAC website, "Mandelic acid has antimicrobial/antibacterial properties, making it an excellent choice for all types of acne, including cystic acne" - so that would explain it. :) You are smart to start with Mandelic and at a lower strength TCA solution! Let me know if you have any other questions! Good luck!

  • @MsGirisha Sorry...I meant plural: "pimples" :)

  • Great video! You could try a 20% tca as a Spot treatment only. I did that on my darker spots & they peeled off completly around the 7th day. I use the 20% tca for spot treatments & the lower % acid for the rest of my face. That way it's less tourture:)

  • @hairfashionmom Thanks, Jen! I've done 9 18% TCA spot treatments on my large spots prior to this peel. Unfortunately, they are so deeply embedded and fading slowly due to decades of sun exposure (I can truly call them age spots - LOL). I wanted to try a full face to fade the other little spots that haven't been spot treated. I may do just cheekbone areas next time. Yes, way less torture but I'm kind of crazy that way! :) It's day 7 for me and my skin is much better - whew! :)

  • @dinahout I used an 18% tca on my chest spots & it didn't get rid of them, but when I used the 20% they were completly removed. The percentage differance is small, but it really makes a differance as far as results.

  • @hairfashionmom Hmm, I may have to try a higher percentage then for my next spot treatment. Thanks for the recommendation and sharing your experience! :)

  • Wow, I am very intrigued about this process and will have to do some research. But, is the full face treatment a one time procedure or repeated as needed? I am so anxious to see the entire process. Thank you so much for doing this.

  • @chocford The product's company says that the results should last up to 6 months but glycolic or lactic peels are recommended weekly for maintenance. After all this is done, I'll review the process and my results. Thanks for watching! :)

  • Very interesting! I agree with another commenter that its like a cliffhanger waiting to see the changes. I absolutely could see your skin gettting redder as you were applying the solution. You are so pretty and I can't imagine you being all scabbed up, lol (what a phrase). xoxo

  • @TeresaNC1 Oh, you'll see my skin much redder in the updates! I scare myself looking in the mirror! Thanks for watching and for the support! :)

  • Hi Dina, I swear i could see your face turning red after you applied it. I can't wait to see the update, its like a cliffhanger! Do you think you needed the 2nd application? When you apply more does it make the treatment go deeper or just process faster? I'm not brave enough to try this yet but ty for this video. Its always better to see it on a real person than just reading the brochure.

  • @kimdemby I can tell you I was feeling my face get redder! :) I don't think I needed the 2nd application. I think it would have been better to put more solution on the cotton pad for the first application. Seemed too dry so, you're right, I wanted to add more for the peel to go deeper. I'll post the first set of updates tomorrow.

  • oh! thanks for sharing this and showing us! I was just thinking about doing an all-over peel - or perhaps half my face! I hav taken a break from TCA becuz the healing and peeling was so ugly and I hav to go to work n i deal with people F2F alot...and I couldn't gauge when peeling would be at its worse, but now, i think it is about 4 days after the peel . I learned from u to use a fan and to use A LOT of neutralizer and antibiotic - i wasn't using enough at all b4! How r u doing now?

  • @shivayalovsmakeup A full face TCA peel is way more intense than the spot treatments. You really do need the time off from work to do this. I can't see how you could be F2F with ppl in a professional environment without them freaking out or worrying about you. Call me vain but I'm looking pretty scary - I don't even want the neighbors to see me. (And yes, I will share my it publicly on YT - LOL!)

  • Hello Dina, A tremendous thank you for documenting this process on YT. We are all curious as to the outcome and I can't wait to see the before and after! I just finished doing a total face 18% TCA and am 2 wks out. I am treating sun damage/melasma spots. On day 2 & 3 they got darker. I started peeling on days 3 and 4. By day 7 most of the peeling had completed. By day 8, the spots seemed darker, but 2 weeks out, they are lightening. I assume it will get lighter as the days go.

    Please update!

  • @123cetaphil Hi there! Wow, congratulations on your TCA peel! You beat me to it! ;) I'm on day 5 - still red, flaking, a bit itchy. I'll be posting my updates soon. Gosh, I look horrid! From my TCA spot treatments, I find that the treated area continues to fade for a while after the initial 10 days and peeling are over. I think it's because the TCA goes deeper. Regular skincare and exfoliation helps. Thanks for watching and for your comment and peel update! *big hug*
