  • when it used to be a gamecube exclusive for a while it gave gamers a boner it was all mysterious & priceless like RE remake & zero before they totally ruined it by pc & ps2

  • If you love graphics, Gamecube is for you, if you want extra features get PS2.

the graphics aren't bad in either version, so I'd pick PS2 for its extra content.

  • This game is better suited to gamecube ps2 was more like an rpg type console

  • The new HD remake looks awesome as well. Gamecube does look better but I always liked the PS2 more. Also mind you, the OS2 is much older.

  • @killerbumble only by like a year tho.

  • @ninga10000 2 years. That's quite older.

  • i remember getting into big arguements with my friend about what system re4 looked better in lol i said gamecube of course for some

whats the deal with removing the lava waterfall at the end??

  • What!Ps2 sucks

  • That fire in the GameCube version looks really good!

  • wish this wasnt ported on the ps2

  • @NESfighter

Why? I'm sure it didn't hurt you at all, or cost you any money, unless, of course, you bought the PS2 port. The port added extra content and gave gamers who might not have had a Gamecube the chance to play this gem of a game.

That said, this always happens with ports. The game was specifically designed for the Gamecube. Being ported to a system it wasn't originally made for cost it on graphics.

  • @MerchantGhost capcom screwed over one of the resident evil developers and ported it over to get more money so he left and resident evil 5 was developed the wrong way which was the worst resident evil games besides mercenaries on the 3ds. That why I wish it was never ported to the ps2 greedy asses and capcom is getting more greedier this gen

  • @NESfighter Why is the Mercs3D worst resident evil? It's supposed to be a minigame that you would play for a short ammount of time and have fun.

  • @maxxdblade its doesnt feel like resident evil I dont really like RE4 and RE5 either I grew up with the old resident evil games and when I heard so much about RE4 I bought it only to turn out it wasnt what it was before it was sort of a let down especially when I had high hopes for it RE4 is over hyped not the best RE game stupid plagas

  • @NESfighter Well,there is indeed a big difference between Classic RE's and modern(after 4) RE's.That doesn't make RE4 a bad game.It's still resident evil but it's a different kind of resident evil and you should appreciate it.RE5 on the other hand,it's kind of a letdown.Also,i still don't get why you don't like Mercs3D.It's just a minigame.And it's really fun.

  • @maxxdblade oh please RE4 and RE5 are more similar to each other. Than Re4 is to the classic RE games. I swear people should stop being so defensive on RE4 and quit crapping on RE5 thats all people talk about. I like mercenaries3D RE4 and RE5 as games but as resident evil titles they are weak in that category and I dont like them as RE titles

  • @NESfighter Just put mercenaries 3D out of this conversation. It has nothing to do with 4 or 5 except it's maps, characters and gameplay.Resident Evil 4 and 5 are more similar,i agree, but their biggest similarity is that they have the same gameplay style. And yes RE4 didn't capture the horror style of classic re games. But unlike RE5 it atleast tried to capture it.

And RE4 is a great game compared to 5.5 is boring, specialy when youre playing alone.4 on the other hand,is a blast to play.

  • @maxxdblade I played both they are both fun but shooting a bunch of foreigners is boring. Oh please RE4 feels as lame as RE5 the soundtracks are lame the scenery is pretty good but the enemies suck balls

  • fuck gc and ps2. wii all the way XD

  • hear if you look leon use another suit and another lion in the other suit you forget that many people a

  • Why is the ps2 version shittier? bWhy didnt they make the graphics just as good or better?

  • @zukodude487987 Because Ps2 was graphical the weakest console of this generation.

  • @DeweyTheTotodile I think the ps2 was the first to come out, but why is it graphically the weakest?

  • Comment removed

  • @zukodude487987 Like you said: because it came out before Gamecube and Xbox. The Ps2 is older so it's plausible that the grapics are worse.

  • @zukodude487987 The GameCube was the first to came out, and the PS2 is weaker because it has a weaker GPU and CPU compared to the GameCube.

  • @zukodude487987 they really can't since GC is way more powerful,

  • Comment removed

  • GC version is definitely better looking. I never really noticed though to be honest, having played both versions. The PS2 is a funny system, first there were games on it in 2000 and some looked GOD AWFUL (Summoner for example) and then a year later boom Metal Gear Solid 2, Devil May Cry and Final Fantasy X. Fancy Shmancy Graphics. We were blown away.

  • @HolySasquatchTurd

Some developers grinded their brains out working like mad to get the most out of the PS2 possible, partially because that was where the money was.

It's interesting how the PS2 was the least powerful of the three systems and the most difficult to work on, but it won by such a massive margin, I guess coming out a year early, and having the support and audience and everything did it.

  • @Usul573 the reason for that is that resident evil 4 was exclusive for the gamecube and ported on the ps2 so tjhey did make good graphics but couldnt waste time to amke it look as good on the ps2 .

  • @Cobac

I didn't mention RE4 in my post, but yes the PS2 is more difficult to get the best graphics out of, and the GC definitely wins for lighting and effects and probably for textures.

  • The gamecube had a better CPU Nintendo did brag about it when it came out saying games would look better and run smoother than the "competition"

  • @PerfectBlade20 but when the wii came out, which is nw the least powerful system, they say: graphics don't matter. hypocrites

  • @potatopac did I ever say I cared if the gamecube had better graphics? No,I just pointed it out,it's a nice touch but does not bring any new experience, kids these days......

  • @potatopac nintendo have only lost with graphics in the wii generation... and nintendo never said graphics don't matter -.- never!...

  • @PerfectBlade20

Yeah, but the PS2 can process two things at one time.

  • @finalkamehameha1 Every console can process two things at once -.- and the GameCube was able to run 3D images, which means that the GameCube can run two images at once.

  • @abelcowl No the PS2 has a different CPU look it up.

  • The new HD version for Xbox 360 and PS3 is the best, because it's the gamecube version in HD with the PS2 extra content.

  • For some reason when I was a kid everyone was saying that the PS2 had better graphics than the Gamecube... but now I'm reading that the Gamecube actually had better graphics. However.. I've noticed more framerate issues on GC games than PS2 games that were crossover titles when I was a kid. I had Crash Bandicoot 4 on both systems and the GC version ran choppy as hell while the PS2 version ran perfectly smooth.

  • @DarkRetroFan64

It depends mostly on how the games are developed though. Gamecube games never had a framerate issue for me. I've also heard that some games that looked better on Gamecube ALSO had better framerate than the PS2 versions. Guess it depended on the game.

  • @DarkRetroFan64 Gamecube had the best graphics of the last generation. Most people ignore this because there weren't that many multi-plats for Gamecube (at least, compared to PS2/Xbox multi-plats). I had a PS2 and a Gamecube back in the day. I loved both of them pretty equally. I still have my PS2, but I sold my Gamecube and games to get a 360. Now I miss the Cube. Ah, nostalgia.

  • @DarkRetroFan64

Really? I've been told more PS2 games had frame rate problems.

The PS2's graphics chip is too dependent on parallel code, with 16 pixel pipelines and only one texture per pass.

One article comparing the PS2/GC hardware showed that the GC matched or beat it in everyway, except disc space.

  • Looks better on the GameCube, but the PS2 version is still good. Especially for the extra content.

  • It looks best on the Xbox, Ps3, and Gamecube.

It falls behind on the PC, Ps2, and Wii for sure.

  • No wonder why Gamecube is underrated.

  • Comment removed

  • GC ESTA BUENA LA GRAFICA PERO ME QUEDO CON PS2 NI SE NOTA CUANDO JUEGAS

  • Gc looks much better, but ps2 version still looks respectable. Even if ps2 was weak, its hardware is ligthyears ahead of n64. The same cant be said of Wii vs Xbox1.

  • @elementalsorcerer113 What does the N64 has to do with the PS2, or even with RE4? Didn't you mean GC? Even so, the GC hardware is better than the PS2. And I'm not saying that as a Nintendo fanboy; I also have a PS2.

  • @hindd95 I just saying that because a lot of nintendo fanboys try to put ps2 at the same league as wii. Yeah, it was weak, but looked like currentgen. Wii doesnt look like a 7th gen machine. I mean its barely more powerful, sometimes worse, than the first xbox.N64 was the strongest 5th gen machine, but still cant compete with ps2 or dc.Ps: i am not wii hater, I have a wii and well, even the gap genesis-neo geo looks small compared with wii-ps3.Its almost imposible to dont see that.

  • @elementalsorcerer113 Wii doesn't look like a current gen, only because it's not a HD capable console; but that was Nintendo's decisions from the beginning. And of course the N64 can't compete with the PS2 or DC, because these came after the N64/PS1 generation. But I still don't get what you are trying to say; I mean, I stil didn't get what RE4 has to do with the 5th generation consoles, XD.

  • @hindd95 WiiU is the first console of the current generation. Very late but still. Wii is like a Gamecube with remote, slightly better graphics but still a console from the previous gen.

  • @DeweyTheTotodile Just because it doesn't do HD, doesn't make it a previous-gen console.

  • Comment removed

  • @hindd95 True, I think so too. The the innovative controls make it worthy being a next gen console. Nintendo still said WiiU is the "real" console of this generation. And we still have a couple of years until another generation, this one will last pretty long.

  • @DeweyTheTotodile But the Wii U will only come out next year (and put a "maybe" on that; as Nintendo said that the console still needs another year for some adjustments). On IGN, yesterday, they said that the next Xbox and PS4 will be shown on this year's E3. But I agree with you; the current generation will last a lot; actually, the previous generation is still strong; the PS2 still sells very well on Japan, and some countries in South America.

  • @DeweyTheTotodile The WiiU is a 8th gen console, not a 7th gen one like the PS3 and the 360

  • even in the low quality you can tell the gamecube stomps

  • if they could make good graphics on the game cube then why didnt they do it on the will come on just look at the mario games

  • PS2 version has less enemies on screen, dumber AI (which makes the game difficult a damned joke) and a kinda weirder controller.

I don't care about the added content (which isn't that good or long, anyway), the PS2 version is a step down, gameplay wise.

  • I meant farcry 1

  • Far cry 2 on xbox > RE 4 on gamecube

  • Better version now is for Xbox 360!! :)

  • ... Did resident evil 4 actually look better on gamecube than it did on wii?

  • I don't know how they did it, but that game still looks freakin good, and I just got done playing Killzone 3. I never thought the Gamecube was so much more powerful than PS2

  • The original xbox did beat the GCN.

  • @kasjamm on paper the xbox was but I haven't seen any xbox games that are better than the best of the GameCube. (Starfox adventures, Mario sunshine and Metroid Prime are good examples)

Thats not counting multi format games where developers just did a lazy port of a game.

  • @Silverswordfish True I had an NGC and an original Xbox. RE4 and RE0 made a lot of Xbox games pale in comparison. Then again there was never an RE game for Xbox, which was a shame because RE has always been known for setting new Graphic standards on whatever hardware its on (RE5 for example still looks better than most games coming out even today). However the Xbox still had some amazing graphics such DOA3, Chronicles of Riddick, and the remake of Concker's Bad Fur Day.

  • I'm glad he PS3/360 used the Gamecube version in HD, and the visuals aged well. That little lunchbox of a console packed a lot of power that rivaled the X-Box1 at times.

  • Looks better on the gamecube there's no doubt about it,but I'd still take the PS2 version for the added content (unlockables, seperate ways, etc).

Tho Wii version mixes both looks and content in one package,so if you a got a Wii get if for that.

  • @FrOoOstBite The gamecube was such a disappointment, it had the potential to beat the PS2, but the idiots at Nintendo decided to use discs that contained very little storage data compared to dvd-roms.

  • @FireGuyX It did not have the potential to beat ps2. ps2 had too much of a had start and fan base from the ps1. If thats the case, why didn't the original xbox win when it had full sized dvds along with better graphics than both systems and no need for memory cards?

  • @FireGuyX well a Gamecube disc has around 1.5 Gb vs the 4.7 GB the DVD rom has so the gamecube loses about 3.2 GB of storage data compared to the Ps2 and Xbox (of course the amount of data I posted here may not be exact) In short Yeah VERY stupid choice made by Nintendo and why did they do this? to hinder piracy uggh Nintendo this is why you kinda lost to Sony during the late 1990's early 2000's.

  • @aperson98 But that was compensated, because RE4 came in two discs on GC.

  • @FrOoOstBite i have on ps2 gamecube wii i beated all of them the wii is better it hadmore unlockables : D

  • @FrOoOstBite that's bullfucking shit ps2 graphics were just better gamecube was still amazing but theres no way gamecube graphics are BETTER...

  • @MoogatoMac

Nope, its true, Gamecube was graphically superior to the PS2. PS2 had bigger discs though, so it was more popular for devs.

  • @MoogatoMac The PS2 was quite weaker than the Xbox and the Gamecube. It was, maybe, a little notch above the Dreamcast.

  • 0:29

The PS2 version has to sacrifice THAT???

  • Comment removed

  • Seeing the gamecube ran of of a ATI gpu the graphics were really good for its time

  • I have and just played Resident Evil 4 for the ps2 on a hdtv 16:9 ration screen and the youtube video at 0:24 looks like the ps2 version. the ps2 version does have the lava spewing out same time with the statue shooting fire at you. Some areas the gamecube does show vibrant colors(graphics) but so does the ps2. I don't think capcom ever fully utilized the ps2 16 pixel pipeline probably running gamecubes 4 pixel pipeline code on the ps2.

  • GCN version wins here. But the HD re-release shits on all of the versions, it looks way better.

  • The GC version is soooooo much better on this game than the PS2 it's not even funny. The GC version still holds up in this current generation and the PS2 is just ugly. I own both consoles and the PS3.

  • Funny how Nintendo owned Sony for graphics back then (I had both GCN and PS2). And it was a well designed console too, great controller (also 1st wireless controller). It was meant to be easy to develope for, even though it got no 3rd party support. I wish Nintendo made a console like this again though, be nice if the Wii U had similar power to the next gen PSXBox, one can hope...

  • @gunninlinguist It's not as much though. Not like how PS3 owns the Wii in graphics, because the Wii is stuck in the last gen. The GCN released later than the PS2. Explains it. Same with the XBOX.

  • The system's capabilities was not the only reason PS2 looks noticeably worse. They also wanted to cram the entire thing into 1 disc for the port.

  • @BadPudding uh, the gamecube game was less than 4GB total(1.8GB per disc) and PS2/XBOX more room(4.5GB). many GC games were multi disc but the xbox/ps2 version was always on one. the only reason for the difference is because that is the difference in capability between Gamecube and PS2.

  • @FLCLimaxxx

Yea Gamecube had only 1.5G space per disc. It was the weakness of the console, (no big open worlds, no GTA). All other Gamecube specs were better than PS2 though...

  • HD version for PS3/X360 is port from GC:)

  • @patrabus no its not

  • @qbikrubik watch videos on youtube, is it;) cut-scene is not pre-rended. is definitive version, because has GC graphics and side mission from ps2

  • @patrabus how do you know? Do you have proofs?

  • @ChaosPhalanx watch boss fight with el gigante, where is 3 small houses in arena. if gigante destroy it, in cut-scene is gone. and all of GC effect presented in this video is present in HD port

  • @patrabus

    actually is the ps2 version

  • @highlander5523 well acutally its just an hd version of the wii version with revised controls along with the ps2/wii content

  • ps2 graphic is better, the gamecube graphic it's good but it's too dark..

  • gamecube look more realistic ps2 got more detail, i prefer gamecube and im playstation fan

  • gamecube wins in terms of graphics but ps2 is just as equally as good due to the extra content that was added which makes up for it

  • gamecube ftw

  • nice comparison, EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT IT DOESN'T SAY WHICH VERSION BELONGS TO WHICH CONSOLE!!! and yeah, the first version is WAY better. compare the amazing lighting effects of 0:15 to the lack of lighting effects of 0:21

  • @yamimakaiz First one's Gamecube, second one is PS2.

  • The fire room is bloody amazing and what you can't see in that footage on Youtube is the heat haze effect. Gamecube excels at lighting, water, and heat effects (see also Crystal Chronicles, LoZ:TP). PS2 was good at polygon pushing (MGS, God of War) but its achilles heel was textures. What stood out most for XBox was its bump-mapping and detailed textures (Splinter Cell, Project Gotham 2, DOA3 ). Dreamcast, like XBox, had a potent VRAM texturing capability (Quake 3, Shenmue 2, Skies of Arcadia).

  • ps2 has 32bit colour where as gamecube has 24bit colour. Doesn't seem to help the ps2 though as the rest of its gpu is a bit naff. I would have liked to have seen this game on original xbox I reckon it would have looked amazing.

  • @SUBZERO1231231231 YOUR A TROLL LOL

  • Who cares. If you have a ps2 or gamegay...gameboy...Gamecube, you can play this amazing game anyway.

  • I have a ps2 next to my gamecube. Honestly, the re4 verison is far better on the gamecube, but in general, the ps2 had a much, much, better game library...

  • looks gorgeous on gamecube

  • DUDE,resident evil 4 version ps3 ITS BETTER!

  • Gamecube got Better Textures I see shadows with the Lightning and the Fire just LOOKS AMAZING :)

    Water aswell :)

  • Gamecube got Better Textures I see shadows with the Lightning and the Fire just LOOKS AMAZING :)

  • My eyes were blind but now I see...

  • you know what looks better than these 2? the hd version on the xbox360 and playstation 3

  • @Gilakus who cares?

  • @KingH3nrry probably the people who upgraded from the ps2 and gamecube and want to relive this classic on a better system

  • @Gilakus yeah you have a point, but didn't they remake this game for the wii?

  • @KingH3nrry like i said better system, xbox360 and ps3 have better graphical output

  • @Gilakus but it did look pretty good on the wii

  • @KingH3nrry actually look at some gamecube vs wii comparisons, the difference is hardly at all

  • @Gilakus looks the same

  • @luisitojr1992 comparing screenshots and actual gameplay side by side, you can and are able to tell the higher resolution and more textured appearence

  • @Gilakus one is a little bit lighter than the over wow

  • @luisitojr1992 ignorantlly, your correct. but realistically, the the textures and resolution is significant.... hook up a gamcube to an 50in HDTV and a ps3/xbox360 to the same tv and the technical advancements speak for themselves

  • @Gilakus & the HD remake don't look HD

  • GAMECUBE ALL DAY! lol man i still have my gamecube case that says ONLY for GAMECUBE

  • I always played the gamecube version, infact I bought a gamecube just for re4... I bought the ps2 version later on and I was dissapointed by the gameplay and the controls to be honest :P

  • @SvennemanZZZ Controls and gameplay were exactly the same you idiot. The only difference was a slight graphical downgrade. Is this your first troll attempt? Because your not doing a very good job.

  • @FusionCode no the analog sticks were worse on gamecube it was better, and theres no need to insult people here, get a life.

  • @SvennemanZZZ You also said gameplay which is exactly the same on both consoles. The only difference in the controls is that the left analog stick is higher on the gamecube controller than the PS2 controller, which I'll admit is slightly more comfortable but should affect gameplay too much. If he fact that the left analog stick being slightly lower on the PS2 controller dissapoints you then that must mean you don't like any PS2 because of the left analog stick. So yes your a troll.

  • Yea Re4, along with code veronica, is being placed on XBLA and PSN in September or october. They will have slightly better graphics and just about the same gameplay. It better come out before october, because were supposively dying on the 21'st :(

  • You can play PS2 version with progressive scan (higher resolution graphics). Just hold triangle and cross when booting. Also more content and I like PS2 gamepad more. Yes, level of texture & scenery detail is somewhat lower, but not by much really.

  • 127,042 views and only 233 ratings? why r ppl just too lazy to click a fucking button? Hell, there is more comments than ratings. Seriously. Wtf?

  • the only difference i see is that one is lighter than the other.

  • Better graphics, or not, if you don't have a Gc, go ahead and buy the ps2 version. Even if you have the money, but the Gc and RE4 just for the hell of it!

  • @aeonlag Yeah it is, but no one knows for sure when though..

  • Do another comparison to these and the hd versions!

  • gamecube is dead guys forget the console (i have it but the true is true gc is not as popular as playstation )and the resident evil 4 hd for ps3 will be the best

  • @MrMoonlegend yeah i dont know when exactly but resident evil 4 and code vronica(hd this time) are coming for ps3 version

  • 0:19 the dog looks are better on ps2.

0:08 the water on gamecube looks same than floor.

0:11 the water on ps2 looks better.

  • @lRockeroCrazy

actually no. play the game on the system, and you'll notice the differences.

  • I have to side with gamecube because u had more fun playing it on gamecube.

  • Comment removed

  • 0:19 the dog looks better on ps2

  • Great thing about the PC version, it's the best because it has everything the PS2 version has, but better graphics because you can download a mod that uses the gamecube textures :)

  • Gamecube Rules!

  • Yep well that's what ya get when you downgrade to a system with subpar specs. Anyone that says the ps2 version could have been better should just keep hitting their head on a tree till they bleed to death.

  • jeah I Love ps,but GC is way better.damn

  • PS2 fanboys will say, oh I think PS2 has better gameplay, really is the same game with a few worthless extras, or maybe they'll say, I don't know looks better on PS2 to me, really? maybe you have always play one PS2 and never owned a GameCube, how can the PS2 version become even better? I owned both GC and PS2 and is a fact graphics are way way better on GC and this is not the only good looking game on GC, how about the Rogue Squadron series, Metroid Prime and Starfox Adventure? GC owns PS2.

  • @NAOCIA007 Well, graphics don't really matter as long as the game is fun. At least to me. But they at least have to look decent for the console the game is running on. And for Ps2 this looks sweet. I think it's fun to play too. I own the Ps2 version but also played the Gamecube version at my cousins home. Was effing awesome. Of course the Gamecube has more power, the Ps2 is much older.

  • lol.. i stick with my ps2 version.. it has a much better gaming experience imo.

  • @boss2650 How? It's the same game but with shittier graphics and a worse controller!

  • @JoelMonteiro how? you ask?? uhm maybe because of all the cool extra missions in the ps2 version. and btw: i love the ps2 graphics and controller!

  • IDK why but I like the PS2 graphics better.

  • @zeron82411 i agree

  • @zeron82411 Because you are not wearing your glasses, that's why.

  • @zeron82411 i totally agree ps2 looks just fine

  • i have a question, does the ps2 version have two discs or one cuz the gamecube version has two discs

  • @fiony100 No, the PS2 version comes on one disc.

  • @fiony100

    PS2 version has 1 disc

    GameCube has 2 discs

  • se be mejor el de Gc

  • 27 people are ps2 fanboys :/

  • wait the gamecube is first?..how is that better it looks like shit compared to ps2
