  • How do you get it to get in your hand?

  • thank you for posting this,

    very very beautiful,

    namaste!

  • Really nice video! Thanks.

  • @allgoraro - Thanks

  • @TheWaqmaz - Thanks for viewing the video and share the link with friends.

  • Can you feel the wind on your hand from their wings?

  • @RingneckDoveFan -- Yes you can - they move leaves of plants a foot or two away when in flight at plants. Feels like a small fan. I could always feel the wind from their wings but never felt the tongue touch my hand as he was drinking.

  • this is so cool !

  • @mustangersalie Thanks!

  • I think this is one of the most amazing videos I Have ever seen on youtube.

  • omg i llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee hummingbirds!

  • Great video! We are having a lot of fun with our hummingbirds here in AZ as well!

  • Sounds like a mini two-cycle engine powering those wings.

  • really neat!

  • does it tickle to hand feed them? Subscribed.

  • how cute that is almost the type of hummingbird my grandpa caught.... you can look on my channel it is called samanthaspictures the video is called flowers hummingbird and watermelon!

  • How can i get my hummers to land on my hand and dring nectar from it?

  • how long did you have to sit still for this?

  • Wonderful. When I had my first manic episode I spent a lot of time with these birds. And dragon flies. Stillness is a virtue.

  • Wonderful. When I had my first manic episode I spent a lot of time with these birds. And dragon flies.

  • Nice video, but you should only feed them sugar water. Not the red commercial stuff. That red dye is potentially health threatening. I read a story recently about one that had to be rehabbed because in ingested too much red dye,if you love Hummers as much as I do, Boil water and use regular sugar!!

  • At 0:32 what flower is that?

  • Subrotunda Salvia

  • This is just amazing!!! I am so jealous! Thanks for posting--hummingbirds are awesome!

  • Thanks for the comment and please view all my videos.

  • Phantastisch, top.

    Anbei meine Videoantwort

  • Love it! Such beautiful birds.

  • I read that red food coloring isn't good for hummingbirds. Perhaps you should use a red cap from a gatorade bottle with sugar water instead.

  • Amazing! My Grandkids loved watching this with me:)

  • Thanks, It is great to know kids like hummingbirds

  • This was amazing to watch!!!!! Thank you for the gift.

  • Thank You

  • i agree so cute and lovely i wanna do that one day, i can imagine a bee feeding on his hands

  • what a strange but wonderful creature <3

  • You are a very kind and patient person. What wonderful footage you have. I heard the hummingbird give one little "peep" as it ate from your hand. Hope to see more videos like this soon!

  • amazing!

  • very nice.

I especially like the middle part. It looks like you have a beautiful garden from that aspect.

  • Wow! I love that you can hear the wingbeats! What does it feel like when they eat from your hand? Do you feel a breeze from the wings flapping? Do you get tickled by their tongue or beak?

  • Great job with the hummingbirds. I live in Colombia so they come to feed year round. I use plain sugar water and easily attract up to four to feed at the same time. My videos posted on YouTube show hummingbirds coming into my house. They fly through to the kitchen when food is low. One whistles when perched outside my window in a star fruit tree. I know you don't "fake" your videos based on behavior of hummingbirds that come to my yard. Keep up the good work.

  • Precious! I have a hummingbird nest and mama right outside my window! I am blessed to see this rare treat. You are the hummingbird master!

  • That is so cool! Could you feel the bird's tongue on your hand?

PS I hear martins! I love those guys.

  • Awesome video!

  • I concur with the last 3 posts. You can tell its a fake. Towards the last 10 seconds of the clip, the bird looks pixelated.

  • I wish I were smart enough to fake the many hours of video I have of hummingbirds eating from hand-held flowers, hand-held feeders, and directly from my hand. I could make some serious money with that kind of talent or knowledge. I have a few more videos for you guys to watch and critique. Just click on (MORE FROM: russlouky) and enjoy. Just don't use profanity or your comment will be removed

  • How were you able to get the hummingbird to approach you? Unless the bird was yours, thats an incredible feat you accomplished.

  • Don't be silly. If you're lucky enough to have hummingbirds in your area, give it a try. All it takes is a lot of patience.

    This video is amazing, russ!

  • i agree with you yugiohcardmaster720 you can so tell that the hand is on a green screen by the outline

  • extremely rare they are very skiddish,i'll have to agree with yugio....lol

  • is that "first choice" food? I use that they birds seem to love that far more than anything I have ever used. they hit my feeder like crazy now esp in morn and just before night

  • That`s so great! Thank you so much for sharing this!

  • it sounds like a jet engine

  • How did it feel when it was eating out of your hand?

  • It is a thrill to have one trust you enough to eat from your hand. But, I really didn't feel it eating from my hand.

  • That was so COOL! XD

  • Awesome!!!

  • very cool, much neater than my video. great job!

  • Wait, is the liquid water and sugar?

to all other hummingbirds lovers out there, whatever you do, don't use honey in your hummingbird feeders because it could mold over a few hours. -chococat830

  • Wow!!! you are amazing. did you actually tame them or are they your friends? please answer. you're amazing!!!

  • Hi, One day as I was hanging the feeder he landed on it to eat. After that, I would hold the feeder for him and later came flowers. It took a few weeks to get him to the point where he would actually eat from the palm of my hand. I have had others to eat from handheld feeders but not from my palm. I would never feed hummers anything except sugar water.

  • Wow how did u tame them? Don't they live only 4 a very short time? What liquid are you feeding them? How many times do they flap their wings in a lifetime? Mhh i never wondered so much about hummingbirds before..great video!

  • I fell in love with these jewels of the air many, many years ago. They never cease to fascinate me or to make me smile.

  • Absolutely awesome! One of the very BEST vids I've seen on YT!

  • Wonderful & Amazing. Are the sounds actually recorded when hummingbird came? Sounded so.

  • awsome

  • A-mazing. I read out by my humming bird feeder, and everytime those guys show up, it scares the living piss out of me! IT's so loud when they fly nearby, it's like a gigantic bee or something, but seeing this is nice 'cause it shows how gentle they really are!

    5 stars!

  • oh bless your heart, that was delightful!

  • nice video really like the hummingbird!

  • awesome

  • Awesome videos, you guys have given m e some ideas. For the record, the best nectar in nature is 21-23% sugar. So 1-to-4 isn't actually perfect. I use 1.25 cups of sugar to 4 cups water and boil it to help prevent mold. It is like hummingbird crack.

  • @uclajd 1.25 cups of sugar to 4 cups water would be 31.25%, not 21-23% sugar. i part sugar to 4 parts water is 20%, and it good.

  • Hello Russ,I love this video.

  • Cool video.

For those interested, please don't use red food coloring to color the sugar water. It's likely not good for the birds (see studies on the web). Just use red fruit juice instead.

  • Please use one part sugar $ four parts water for your hummingbird food - I only used the red store bought hummingbird food in making these videos two or three times and then switched to clear sugar water. I don't suggest red fruit juice either.

  • Agreed. I use plain sugar water myself and don't find the red necessary. But, for those inclined the natural red is IMO better than the dyes. That was my unclear point; for what it is worth.

  • Thanks for the comments - we are in agreement about hummingbird food made from one part sugar and four parts water (the perfect hummingbird food) The red colored food is absolutely not necessary to get hummers to a feeder. Now, to get it to eat from your palm is a different story and the food I used is safe to use but why use it in feeders when it cost much more than plain old sugar water.

  • ¡Hola!

Es algo maravilloso el que un colibrí, tenga tanta confianza en un hombre.

Su alma debe ser tan blanca como la nieve.

    Cara.

  • What a BEAUTIFUL video!!!! Thank You!!! Bob K.

  • WOW!!! I just LOVE how you can hear the wing buzz through the entire clip - SO cute!!!! I think I drink far too much coffee to ever hold my hand that still!!! Thank you for sharing this with us - what a treat!!!

  • Wow! Incredible shots. It must have taken a while to gain their trust. Amazing footage. Well done.

  • WOW!

  • That hummingbird eats to much. Fatty! hehe

  • Wow! This is an amazing video! Thanks for sharing.

  • It's so little! Like a little fairy

  • jeez.. how did you manage that? Thats awesome though. We have a lot of hummingbirds ill have to try that. :)

  • That was incredible footage and I envy you so much for having that bird eating out of your hand!

  • I know it is amazing and hard to believe, but the same hummer has returned to Louisville to spend another summer with me. Go to my website and check out the slideshow featuring photos of him taken in the last couple of weeks. No video yet but I will get some soon. He is already eating from handheld flowers, handheld feeders and from the palm of my hand. This site won't let me put the website so do a google search for Russ Thompson Hummingbirds and choose Enjoyable Hummingbirds.

  • OMG!!! taht is sooo freakin cool, will tehy actually go to your hand if your have nectar on yourself?

  • Nice footage!

  • Your video clip is great and I've rated it as awesome. Please see my video clip on a parrot animation and some Victorian trading cards of exotic birds such as parrots, paradise bird, toucan, humming bird etc.

  • You're Superman! That is just amazing!

  • awesome

  • this is amazing...but the coloring in the sugar water has been found to render them sterile so just do a sugar water solution without the coloring. they will still come to the feeders as they are usually brightly colored.

  • Thanks for being concerned about the red coloring in the food. This is a mixture bought at stores that has never been found to cause any harm to hummingbirds but I still only use my home mixed 4 parts water and 1 part sugar to save money. Since my hand is not bright red I used some color so the hummer would find it. After a few times with red food I went to clear and he still enjoyed it.

  • TERRIFIC!!! I bet you could feel the wind from the hummer's wings on your hand! Think I'll try it myself this summer! Thanks for sharing your video.

  • SWEEEEEET

  • Cute! We've got a little female that will sit on your finger and you can actually stroke her tummy or back when she's really concentrated on getting a drink.

  • Awesome!!!! I have held one once...(It was really an accident) but this is wonderful..Thank you!

  • Wonderful sequences there, Russ!

  • How totally cool ! You must of held your hand there an awfully long time.

  • Hello Russ, Love those hand feeding shots....

  • This is really cool. Thanks for sharing.

  • awesome!ur so lucky to have had that experience! ....did te hummer's beak tickle? lol

  • That was cool.

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!
