Both parties are run by special interest I agree but you can't hold a standard to just Democrats. Its not about Dems or Repubs - it stared out as:

1)Spending the Fed. Government is spending way beyond its means - spending should not exceed revenue.

2)Liberty: The federal government is too involved in citizens lives, becoming the nanny for many citizens.

3)The Constitutional limits on the federal gov. have been over-stepped and ignored.

But when the inevitable results of the bad federal policy take over (which they inevitably will) Americans will demand the changes necessary.

Actually I was protesting the tragic abuse of the constitution and irresponsible spending for many, many years before Obama.

Gov. spending does not end recessions - it only fuels the next bubble. Citizens spending fuels real recovery, gov. spending fuels inflation and a false sense of prosperity. Printing and spending money does not create prosperity - production of goods and services does.

If gov. spending is the answer, why do we stop? Why not spend $50 trillion?

Uncertainty stays their hand and its up to the government to make up the shortfall to boost confidence in the markets and promote people to keep money flowing. A moderate level of inflation is generally accepted to be required for economic growth. You are right about printing and spending, although I haven't read anything about the treasury being sent an order to print off more than usual. Spending $50 would lead to sever devaluation of the USD.

Yes, citizen spending falling off hurts - and it can hurt bad. But when it happens it is a healthy self-regulation of a free market to sustainable levels. Gov. spending instills artificial confidence (ie, bubble)

The fed will "buy" treasuries, which is essentially printing money. And the phrase "quantitative easing" is simply another phrase for printing money.

I actually do not rely on goods and services of the gov, beyond the basics. And the basics cost about 1/3 of the current fed. budget.
