Speed, you are blessed with a unique voice and something worthwhile to say. I'm happy to be one of the 13,063 views on July 19 2011. Now I'm going to send your link out to friends because I think your videos deserve millions of views. Thank you for your bravery and brilliance.
i was walking throagh a tas can this to be loss from reality because the tast can is the cosmos itself, we are all tast cans, shit fall into us from other people and sometimes other people don't better to put anything within us. only being loss walking though a tast can that we can realize the true meaning of the cosms and human existence.
Wow... Amazing. Don't know who this dude is, but to jsut ignore what he has to say would be the same as shooting oneself in the foot with a doublebarrelled shotgun. Levitch man, I wish you the best of luck in the future...
Mr. Levitch seems to have dulled substantially post-'The Cruise' - cosmetically, he's generally more appealing, yet somehow...blander. His schtick now seems affected, and self-conscious. This is very tragic. I recommend watching 'The Cruise', and indulging in the preservation of the Timothy Levitch mystique (at 25).
I'm a bit drunk and have been watching a few of this guy's vids, I was turned on to him by the thing he did w/ weezer which was very good. I think he is very good but I think the part about a bunch of people dying to open up a bit of the sky was a bit insensitive, although I do get his point (I think?). I tried to write about other crap but I'm getting cut off, I think being a tour guide may have simplified his view? I want to stress that I see his point, but he has no pity for the rich...
@Creepyitseems Maybe you just fail to see the connections Speed is making. If you step back from your current perspective, you may see the larger picture that he is describing. Maybe you will see that you don't have to criticize as a means of presenting the illusion of intelligent thought.
@Creepyitseems As opposed to some guy who enjoys criticizing other people as a means of presenting the illusion of intelligent thought?
Maybe if you let go of your fear and anger, you might relax enough to see the larger picture that Speed is describing. You might see that these "random" sentences are truly connected and paint a very clear picture. Clear to those who are unafraid enough to see it.
@Creepyitseems As opposed to some guy who enjoys criticizing people as a means of presenting the illusion of intelligent thought? Maybe if you let go of your fear and anger, you might be able to see the larger picture that Speed is describing. Then his sentences would not seem random to you. Best of luck to you.

why do you all like this man? My whole household (including a philosophy major who is more versed than i in some of the ideas he lists) is in awe at how dumb this man is. Nearly every idea is lost among our arguments. He is good if you cheery pick sentences. but the moment you quote a paragraph he becomes idiotic. He is well read, but he is a poet for 40+ year old Americans who dabble in thinking outside the box... I hate this man... ugh.
@Dracanic Come back and talk to us when you are 40+ Your whole household does not have the cumulative life experience that Speed does. It's a shame what educational institutions do to young, malleable minds. You have let these "teachers" stunt your thought process. Try thinking for yourself. It may be painful at first, but it is worth the effort. Trust me.
I laughed when I read that about him smoking too much weed, it's probably true. The thing about speed isn't he is unintelligent, hes someone who looks for connections and relations between every sensory stimulation that enters. A lot of the stuff doesn't need to be said, yet its often thought by many, in different ways. He reminds me more of a romanticist / pantheist poet, since he speaks like his mind is a theater for his senses
The original quote is "so shines a good deed in a weary world" written by Shakespeare in his play The Merchant of Venice . . . of which is repeated in the original willy wonka.
iljammer's comment is just a slight variation of that...
@weemanaz Willy Wonka was much better than shakspee infact more meaniful than space odessey and only by wacthing willt wonka that we can understand the human contuction
I have this on DVD! I love Speed, he's just great all around. His book (Speedology: Speed on New York on Speed) is well worth seeking out. I once was lucky enough to have coffee with him in NYC about 7 years ago, he's exactly like this in person. Endlessly interesting to talk/listen to.
I love his book, and I'm so jealous that you got to meet him! The Cruise is among my favorite DVD's. I've watched and re-watched it hundreds of times! Oooo I'm so jealous of you!
Speed has helped me come to terms with life in so many ways. I need him to make a comment on death, so that I may come to terms and understand it as well.
