All of the lion roaring videos on YouTube have relaxed lions roaring & in that situation it's not much of a roar. I would love to see a video of a lion roaring out of anger. In that situation they really put out some powerful roars. Then again, if you want that kind of footage you probably have to go to the wild.

You're absolutely right, it's almost impossible to get a proper roar on these videos, my Bassett hound used to make similar noises to these little sounds. That video of the lions roaring you actually hear the word "roar" in the sound, whereas here it's just like rah. ruuh. reh, not completely shit but not as good as an actual roar
