  • Thanks for the vid man. It was a lot easier than I thought. Saves a bit of a headache. Cheers!!

  • Wonderful video. Cant wait to do it

  • Well Brandon thanks I finally got around to doing this mod. Thanks it was so simple and works great. Know my 7 years old son will not have any troubles with the slide. Thanks again and happy shooting.

  • Just bought my fiance a Ruger 10/22 last night for her wedding present. Looks like I'm gonna have to do this modification before I give her the 10/22. Lol.

  • Hello: This is where the Dremel Tool , and the flex shaft works really well. He did a fine job with the file, looked great..

  • Brandon, love ur vids....mark south louisiana

  • Much better than factory. Thanks a lot man.

  • I just finished doing this mod on my 10-22, following your (very clear) instructions. It's GREAT - thanks. I'd been frustrated with the factory configuration of the release, this is so much better.

Are you familiar with the after market magazine release that works by pulling in the same direction as the trigger, similar to an AK mag release (rather than pulling the lever towards the muzzle)? I found one made by Champion, about 10 bucks, that is working out very well.

  • I like this modification for 10-22s. One instance where I elect to keep the factory configuration is with a hunting rifle. I prefer the security of a "two-step" release in the woods if I have to unload.

  • Well done!

  • This was an excellently done video, easy to understand and follow! I have a stainless 10-22 with a side folding stock, and stainless 3x9 scope. This might give me a nice little project to do!

  • I just did the mod and it works great, it took me about half an hour start to finish. I really appreciate the video without it i would have probably just bought the part somewhere. Videos like this one really help people who are unsure of there skills just jump in there and do cool stuff to there guns. Keep up the good work and great shooting.

  • Pretty cool B.

  • Damnit! Now I have to dig my 10-22 out of the safe.

Great tip! Thanks for the vid.

  • Very usefull thanks for sharing

  • Worked liked a champ ... thanks for posting this.

  • I'm in the process of buying one, thanks for the video.

  • Neat! Now what do I do with these extra parts? Do I try to put them back in the gun?

  • Great video. Thanks a lot. I'm thinking about getting another 10/22. Love that rifle

  • Nice mod. Very helpful. Big thanks.

  • Good job !!

  • did you say it would hold the bolt back on the empty mag? we were just fiddling with that the otherday, trying to figure out why they do what they do>

    great instructional video, thumbs up.

  • Well done! You have a knack for instructional videos.

  • Pretty sweet man, I just might have to try this

  • Great explanation on this mod , I just picked up 10/22 and this will be my first mod to it.

  • I’ve seen people talk about that and even post photos in forums, it wasn’t clear enough for me to try it, but your video is so good, I just may have to do that. Eliminate that extra, unnecessary step. Great video. I enjoy these types of videos from you the most. Thanks for posting it.

  • That is a sweet mod Brandon!

  • Excellent, good lighting and clear instructions without a lot of extra useless video. Keep up the great work!

  • well made video, great channel, thanks for posting this vid im gonna try and do this without destroying my 10/22 some day

  • A+ - thx

  • It needs a bolt set-up like the Marlin model 60, and the model 60 needs a detachable magazine like the 10/22. I sense an marketing opportunity for some smart gun manufacturer!

  • This is what youtube is about. Great informational video. Great job on teaching/explaining how to do this.

  • Great tip bro', very instructive video. Thanks a lot!

  • great vid bro I will be doing it to my 10/22 have you done a trigger job on your yet? I did mine and it was fairly simple and it smoothed out the trigger a lot and cut the pull weight in half and it was free

  • Great tutorial and thanks for sharing with us.

  • Great tip and great demo Sir! Thank you!

  • have you had any problem with the bolt stop pin falling out when you take a part your 10 22

  • Good information here. Thanks for doing the video.

  • Great video man, not sure if I will try it or not, I would probably end up having to FedEx to you for reassembly, lol

  • Cool info Brandon,thanks.

  • thanks Brandon do you think you could play us a song on your range with your 10/22....plent of steel to hit.. it all sounds different shouldnt be hard to ping out a Christmas tune??

  • I'm definitely doing this one. Are there more easy 10/22 mods you could make videos on?

  • Great video . good info

  • great vid! I did that about a year ago to all my 1022s with a dremel tool. I also used a cutting wheel to add jimping to the part that sticks out the bottom. Why on earth doesn't Ruger make the guns like that to begin with?

  • Great video. I think I will do that on my 10-22

  • very nice man, great video

  • You should spend the extra $25 for a new trigger with an overtravel screw, makes the gun that much better..

  • you made that look real easy.

  • Excellent video, great job explaining the process. Top shelf.

  • Hi there, nice video, well explained, but i thimk that safetys are there for a reasen, and should not be tampert with. Yes it is a lot easyer to brake your car just with the foot brake, but dose that mean that you desmantel the parking brake???

  • Good video Brandon. Very informative and detailed. :)

  • *goes looking for a file*, great vid.

  • Cool, where were you when I was installing my Volquartsen trigger mods? That took me longer than I thought it should.

  • Now COOLGUYGUNS has a replacement that actually holds the bolt open after the last shot.

  • i did this same modification to my ruger 10/22 some time ago by instruction of another you tube video. your video was much better made.. very good video.... thanks again for sharing.

  • if i ever get one,i`ll know what to do!

  • This is the kind of video I like to see good info

  • Is this the "target tactical" version?

  • Thanks, I've been wanting to do this and now I see how easy it is!

  • Great video Brandon I got to get me a 10-22, Thanks

  • @GARYMANDIEVAN What? The one and only GARYMANDIEVAN doesn't have a 10/22? What is this world coming to?

  • OH god! the sound of you filing is horrible! Curse my hi def sound system.

  • @MavHunter20XX lol Kirsti said the same thing.

  • sweet vid!

  • Awesome! Thanks Brandon!

  • I dont trust myself to do this lol... nice video

  • Best Tut on this

  • Excellent vid. Thanks

  • pretty cool modification.

  • It just seems common sense that the 10/22 should come this way to begin with. I am guessing this may have to be a lawyer issue. Ruger could turn a great gun into an excellent gun if the bolt locked back on the last round.

  • @suncountryairline Ever heard of a marlin 60?

  • Sweet looking ruger. I want to get myself a couple more. One for precission, the other for lightweight/compact.

  • Pretty cool! Of course as long as you don't take the video down I don't have to pay attention when I disassemble mine :)

  • haha... I didnt even know you could lock the bolt...

  • Best modification you can do for your 10/22 IMO. You did a great job explaining what steps are needed to do it. Thank you for posting.

  • Sweet learned something new, good video

  • Is this only for the most recent models? I have a older 10/22 and was just wondering if it would work the same. Thanks

  • Great Video!!!

  • sweet. I don't even own the 10-22 I just liked seeing how to do this ^.^

  • @AMT4245 That needs to change...soon ;)
