In the acts of the Apostles (chapter 16, verses 11-15 & 17 verses 1-15, Pauls journey to Macedonia) there is a description of Macedonia and we can see the names of its cities Philippoi, Thessaloniki (not Solun), Neapolis, Amphipolis, Appolonia, Beroia all GREEK names. Apostle Paul and Silas also mention the ethnicities that found in Macedonia, Jews, Romans, Greeks. There is no mention of a Macedonian ethnicity separate from the Greek nation, Macedonians are identified as Greeks.

FYROM people are not "ethnic Macedonians" and were never called "ethnic Macedonians. Only a Greek can be an "ethnic Macedonian." FYROM Slavic people were used first by Bulgaria and then the communists, this is how FYROM people started calling themselves Macedonian.
Makedon is only Greek from the origins of being Greek and Hellas.

Because Archeleus was so fond and interested with Greek stuff he included the Greek language as a nation one. Before him there was no such thing. They also have their own temples that are largely ignored by the population. In a tradition there were Macedonian gods on the same mountain living in co-existence but only in the Macedonian side of the mountains do the Macedonian gods exist.
