Many judges are just crooked sleezebag lawyers who got a promotion. We need to find a better way of choosing judges. Such as a program of paying people who just graduated law school to attend court hearings and monitor judges and lawyers looking for abuse, and writing reports on the problems. These court monitors should be the only pool of people we choose judges from, because they wouldn't have been contaminated by the dishonesty of general practice. It is hard for an honest lawyer to survive.

i think private prisons would work (stay with me) they only get paid if they rehabilitate the offender and he she doesnt commit the crime again not the current criminal colleges that your country produces
Foolish idea, The justice system is too important to be in private hands, corruption is guaranteed when you combine such power with for-profit greed and enterprise. There needs to be prison reform but turning it over to corporations is a negative reform path.
families should go for class action against the justice departament. that's the only way to go after that judge. when somebody in the departament will have to write out a check for some 100 000 000, he/she will be pissed off. most probably they'd focus that frustration on the cause of their problem: the crooked judge.

Many judges are just crooked sleezebag lawyers who got a promotion. We need to find a better way of choosing judges. Such as a program of paying people who just graduated law school to attend court hearings and monitor judges and lawyers looking for abuse, and writing reports on the problems. These court monitors should be the only pool of people we choose judges from, because they wouldn't have been contaminated by the dishonesty of general practice. It is hard for an honest lawyer to survive.

The mother that confront the judge.. She and her husband told the sherife that her son was hanging out with a bad crowd of kids. She and her husband gave evidence to the sherife and got the sherif to go to a gathering of these bad crowd kids. The cops arrested most of them and her son as well and charged them with petty crimes. The son was busted for drug para. thats for having a bong or roach clip.

Loved Cenk's rant from 4:53 to 5:22 - kind of strips the situation to it's bare essentials. More money was made by locking up more kids, so the people involved (who would benefit) would rationalize doing whatever things they did that fell in line with that profit incentive. Destroying the lives of these children so they could line their pockets. I wonder how much rationalizing they had to do so they could sleep at night.

@VerdantNight Kind of reminds me of the movie Sicko with the insurance companies, how the people who denied claims were told "you're not denying treatment, you're only denying payment". That way they could effectively murder (or bankrupt) people who were making legitimate claims for a service they were already paying for.
The judges probably told themselves "These kids are criminals anyway. Tough justice is good for them." It's also possible they simply saw these kids as dollar signs. Assholes.

This is a stand-up argument for why the free-market and private ownership of jails can NEVER work. Not unless we all have no law, only vigilante justice, and then we have OTHER problems with no one able to agree on what the law is or who enforces it without a real agreement in place. That agreement IS the public option whereby private control & ownership is ILLEGAL and itself an act deserving of a life sentence just to start such an operation for CASH

families should go for class action against the justice departament. that's the only way to go after that judge. when somebody in the departament will have to write out a check for some 100 000 000, he/she will be pissed off. most probably they'd focus that frustration on the cause of their problem: the crooked judge.
