Not everyone who is born will grow into a mature, productive, citizen. Likewise, not everyone who is "born again" will grow into a mature, productive, disciple.
Examine yourselves in 2 Cor 13:5 is not about lifestyle it is about what a person believes. Imagine going out soul-winning with 5 people. This command would be applied to find out what each person believes. If one is a Calvinist or Lordship Salvationist, They would need to examine what they believe so that they don't leaven the faith of the rest of the group. Galatians 5:9.
