I'm happy to see cultural knowledge being passed on from the elders. Grandma's knowledge of the star systems is AWESOME. She is a scientist and living treasure to her nation.

i love doing the string game my dad always show me the gate opening, shooting stars, basket, drum, spider web and more though i can only do the gate opening and drums and im navajo
This is incredible! When I was a young girl, my friends and I would play string games like this. We called it cat's cradle. I had no idea it was of Navajo origin. There are many patterns here we never learned. So very interesting. Thank you for sharing. Your Grandmother is beautiful.
A friend of mine posted this clip on Facebook and it brought back memories of my childhood growing up in Ft. Defiance. I'm glad that you're documenting these important stories. Ahee'hee'!
Wau...she tell you a lot of beautiful mesages in that string!!! Be loved and try to understand the mesajes that she teaches to you!!! Be loved kid!!! Much love and peace to you grandmother!!!
Your grandmother is a beautiful woman, inside and out - you can really tell. What a treasure she is and what a wonderful tribute to her to preserve her sharing these skills with her grandkids. THANK YOU!!
im Dene(pronounced Deh-Ney) Or Tsu tina My grandfather used to show me all kinds of things mostly like i have seen here, I am a speed webber I learn things fast, I wish Your grandmother could teach me these..
I enjoy watching this video. Your grandma is kew. The "V" shape he made wasnt the Bird Nest, its the Earth Worm. The Bird Nest looks different... I cant wait for winter to do all this string games...
This was wonderful to watch. So far I can only do the basics; I love the "gate opening" and the coyotes running away from each other. Thank you for sharing this!
Thats so cool me and my grandmother do that every winter. Its funny my momma told me that if i did it during the summer that the spider would come and put me in her web...... lol.
ya'at'eeh so how old was robbie then? and have i ever met your grandma? and i thought your mom told me that if i did that then a spider will live on my web and it will never come off ever? and you know how i hate spiders besides me eating them when i was little lol but ya i though she said that to me?
thats cool...wish my grandma could teach me things like these. When i was small my mom told me that if I did string games in the summer the spider would tie my hands together forever. :D
Your grandmother brings great joy to those that have the opportunity to watch this video. You are very lucky to have her in your life. I hope you will encourage her to record more of her stories and share them with the world!
This is wonderful. My mother's name is Marguerite and she used to tell stories with string in this manner but I never knew where the stories came from...maybe a link? I smile to think maybe. Thank-you for sharing this video.

She speaks the original language, which should be the language and not the english.
I love this video. The person reminds me of self, because I sound ridicules when I speak english on any modern instrument.
Good thing I learned my language and I surely hope the people get back on track because we are who we really are Dine. Thank you for the video.
