  • This is incredible! When I was a young girl, my friends and I would play string games like this. We called it cat's cradle. I had no idea it was of Navajo origin. There are many patterns here we never learned. So very interesting. Thank you for sharing. Your Grandmother is beautiful.

  • Beautiful! I am homeschooling my son. His dad is Dine but we live far from the southwest. I will teach him these next winter. Ahee'hee

  • A friend of mine posted this clip on Facebook and it brought back memories of my childhood growing up in Ft. Defiance. I'm glad that you're documenting these important stories. Ahee'hee'!

  • I will be waiting for more videos about it:)

  • She speaks the original language, which should be the language and not the english.

I love this video. The person reminds me of self, because I sound ridicules when I speak english on any modern instrument.

Good thing I learned my language and I surely hope the people get back on track because we are who we really are Dine. Thank you for the video.

  • Your grandmother brings great joy to those that have the opportunity to watch this video. You are very lucky to have her in your life. I hope you will encourage her to record more of her stories and share them with the world!

  • Hey, I used to play some of those as a kid! Never knew they had a Navaho origin!

  • This is wonderful. My mother's name is Marguerite and she used to tell stories with string in this manner but I never knew where the stories came from...maybe a link? I smile to think maybe. Thank-you for sharing this video.

  • We need more videos like these. The stories are wonderful and can be kept forever here. Great video. Give thanks to your grandmother for showing these stories not only to her own, but the world. Her spirit burns sweetly through the video. You are blessed to have her. Enjoy your blessing as much as you can.*****
