I was watching this video, while camping for the drake. I had video on full screen, so at the exact moment you killed her/him live, I heard the npcscan alert. I thought, hey, thus guys addon is bugged.
Then it hit me. I alt tabbed to wow and just got the kill. I think this was a lucky video for me. <3
It's called NPC_Scan :) also you wanna get NPC_Scan Overlay too as it shows you spawn locations and for good measure get another addon called Silverdragon. Hope that helps :)

@Kurasii Because this video was taken before patch 4.1, i.e. even if he targeted him it wouldn't help him at all because it wasn't on the minimap yet. You just had to memorize the spawn points and their height to get a good chance at being first on Aeonaxx...

Got this guy today! Even though it's been 8 months since the release of Cata, on my server anyways there are still a lot of people farming this guy. Keep at it everyone and you will get it one day.
Been camping Aeonaxx for 23 hours, took a 5 hour break to sleep, hope nobody got him then. It's mostly just me there, sitting all alone with nothing happening at all. Not even a sight of this drake. Not even Blood Seeker! I dont know if its my NPCScan or just a reallllllllllllllly long respawn. And i know 23 hours isnt a lot, but with no action at all you'd think it would spawn any second

Hey had you completed the whole quest chain at this point? I have been camping in that same spot and my npcscan went off when there was literally no one around. i checked everywhere and never saw it, nor did the hostile npc code come up ever. Just wondering what phase of deeepholm you were in and if that matters.
@SevenSane He has 2 seperate npcscan ID's, one where he is green (not hostile) and one where he IS hostile (once you mount him). But bottom line of what I am asking, is had you completed all of the quest chains out there in deepholm at the time of this video??

Hiya, just wondering if you could tell me what class you are, and what level you were at the time. 'Cause I'm a level 82 (atm) combat rogue, and was wondering if I'd stand a chance at this, as someone else said level 82/83s would be overwhelmed by the whelps. However, others have said the whelps have really low health. What do you reckon?
@SthenoCinaed I think it is possible to kill it as an 82 but it will be harder. I wouldn't take that risk if I were you because if the dragon kills you, you will probably kill yourself :)
This video is fantastic. I'm glad that there is proof that you can actually see Aeonaxx all the way from the Stonecore entrance. Been farming this guy since the 20th pretty much right where you were camping. This video really got my spirits up. :D
@K7ARKANGEL Dude, you can see Aeonaxx all the way from pretty much everywhere around the Temple. Seriously, two days ago, I was camping north-west and NPCscan went off. I couldn't find Aeonaxx anywhere near me and assumed it was some kind of phasing problem. The guy who killed it actually was in the same phase as me and found Aeonaxx around the Blood Trail, i.e. opposite of where I camped. I had no idea NPCscan could see that far, and I hope to spread this info to all my fellow campers.
Well i got one good thing so far i randomly decided to far sight to jadefang while camping and he was spawned and i went over and got the pet drop at least so far i have somthing to show for my efforts lol
@Sargatha Just formatted my second harddrive so I had 1tb unused space. That is a little under 5 hours of Fraps footage so I just had Fraps running all the time and just removing the video without any spawn every hour or so. That way I could make sure to get everything from the beginning! :)
Wow on this video he was very low and on other videos people are saying he spawns very high then goes down a little bit as he pats around. Can he spawn both high and low ? Anyways nice video..

@shaft478 Thanks dude! Yeah, I was listening to that soothing music and then all of a sudden I hear "DUN DUN DURUN DUN!!!". Since I knew there were other campers I had to be quick but that other guy would totally have gotten it if we wouldn't have been afk since I was totally panicking.
The best thing about this video is the chill classical music in the background as NPCscan blares and you look around frantically for Aeonaxx.
