In 1996 I was flown with a VIA Tu-154 from Düsseldorf to Burgas. I am sorry. But this flight was horrible. But for Aeroflot I think there a very good hope in the future. With it,s modern A319 & A320 Airliners and with it,s fully new renovated Customer Service. Today SU must be a very good airline.
I flew from Amsterdam to Moscow and back with Aeroflot in a A320. The service was great, i even got a few cans of Russian beer from the stewardess, so that my father could try it at home. The food was great to! The interior was nice, with blue leather seats, and everything was clean and looked almost as new.
From Moscow to Rostov i flew an old TU154, and i actually loved it. The sound was freightening, the acceleration at take-off was impressive.
Yep, Aeroflot is much better airline now than it used to be mostly thanks to increased competition from other domestic (e.g. TransAero) and international airlines.
Years ago I flew a Tupolev from London to Russia. WOOW, it wasn't exactly smooth... not your typical British Airways/Boing experience. Was rather like flying a MIG to me. Big noise and the manouvres were much sharper. I loved it.
Later I was told that many Aeroflot pilots had military training...
Actually this was only two years ago; I was flying with Aeroflot not MIAT (in 2001 went on a MIAT Airbus). Yes I much prefer the comfort levels of an Airbus.
Videp must be at least 5 years old! Because I remember that Mongolia MIAT airlines got rid off all TU-154 planes around 1999. Now it has 2 AIRBUSes and 3 Boeings. And those are the only big planes for commercial use. Also now there a few small commercial private jet airlines... Anyways I remember that plane I don't know if it was that loud because it was my first flight ever. I prefer AIRBUS.
Actually, they did. Four of them, on the Tu-114. Basically it's the civilian version of the Bear, based directly on the military version. And it became the fastest prop-driven plane to date.
Looks like a good place to stay away from.

The engines sounded like old sci-fi movie sound effects at first.

The fact that Aeroflot has had 128 crashes in hits history might have something to do with it..

I want to fly on one of those ex-Soviet beasts before they are all gone. Russian jets may be loud but they have personality! ;-)

Very loud engines. I think Boeings and Airbuses have much silenced engines.

Like it. Would have preferred more emphasis on the thin little wing, but these are personal preferences.
