  • FILIPINO MARTIAL ARTS IS JEET KUNE DOS BACKBONE

  • why has no UFC fighter ever learned this stuff!?

  • JKD is your own expression of JKD.

  • When she punches, is she supposed to be using a horizontal fist? Also her elbow rolls up and out before the punch, is that telegraphic?

  • Hmmm, maybe if I train hard and respect others, I can meet a badass woman too, ha ha ha. Great and inspiring stuff.

  • Guys, thats not Jeet kune do basic

  • youre a coward dude you wont approve this but aleast youll know my opinion.

  • i like the drills, but the comment people dont fight this way refering to the lead bridge arm is misleading......wingchun fighter start ther in some of their drills because they realize that there might be an obstruction that they might need to remove as they punch. cross hand chi sao is the drill bruce used in the movie. remember wingchunis the root of jkd.

  • Ron is not just talented but also one lucky dude. (MA-wise and Woman-wise)

  • An aquaintance of mine who said he's been doing martial arts for a long time told me you needed wing chun as a foundation for JKD because it has centerline control that Karate, Taekwondo, and few others don't really use. My question is does it really matter if it does or doesn't? example of two concepts and contradictions "Honestly, that looks nothing like Jeet Kune Do to me..."

    kwok3d 7 months ago

"That honestly tells me you know nothing about JKD."

    Ronbalicki feedback appreciated.

  • good stuff i like how it's trained in routine drills, whereas I like unorthodox training both have their perks.

this is JKD at its roots.

  • I have your Jun Fan JKD series dvds. I like them and I am still digesting them. I know you are an exellent martial artist. Now I always wonder when I watch you and Sifu Inosanto is why to you always punch your lead hand strike and rear hand strike with ping chuie and not with chung chuie as Bruce Lee did. Bruce Lee in all his pictures from the Bruce Lee`s Fighting Method and in his movies and all other pictures obviously stresses the the vertical fist. I see Sifu Jerry Poteet stresses it.

  • Wow! That tells me JKD isn't just effective for men lol

  • Ron, although I have never formally met you, I humbly offer you some friendly advice.....quit wasting your very valuable time responding to stupid people who obviously dont have a "clue" as to what true JKD is!!!! You are a 20 plus year student of the "ONLY" person that Bruce Lee "CERTIFIED" to teach JKD.....Dan Inosanto.. They still dont get it...Bruce didnt want a bunch of JKD clones!!! It appears as if "JKD Originitis" still affects some people....Keep your head up Ron!!!

  • Thats the guy that coldsteel uses in some of there programs, I had no idea he was on youtube too. They have a little of everything on here.

  • High quality instruction by Ron and perfect execution by Diana. Watch her eyes @ 1:16 to 1:21 Well focussed and spots the target on every move. A good martial artist / instructor from any style can learn a lot from watching this. Thanks for all your hard work and for sharing your knowledge Ron!

  • I do wing chun can somebody explains what the benefit of jeet kune do is/does? Í would like to try some lessons soon!

  • I wonder how intense fights between Ron and Diana get :P Great video. I haven't done martial arts in years, and my brain started to melt towards the end lol

  • @kwok3d would be a bit like saying that looks nothing like a physical manifestation of platonian metaphysics.

  • Excellent choice in MA and Women.

  • @Eso1 Thanks!

  • Mma=sport,JKD=real life marital art! Rather than paid to watch a sport I might as well pay to learn what's really useful in everyday life right??

  • Kwok3d you havent got a scooby doo!!!

  • @omegaice8 no this is not classic or authentic jkd. Its jkd concepts at most. At least its just some one punching mitts and then kicking

  • It's so weird how you can tell when people are extremely skilled even when they do slow or more simple movements like this. Talent and strength are utterly palpable.

  • This is great material by 2 great martial artists.

  • How can it look like jeet kune do? i thought it should be devoid of style so as not to be limited

  • remember these are training drills not a street fight tecnigues. you can use these in self defense with little modifications but these are great drilss.

  • The split entry comes from Wing Chun and is called defending the four corners. The technique is JKD because the lead hand is moving first while the back hand blocks (high left, high right, low right, low left...for corners). If you were to do a more traditional style block with the lead hand then you would be attacking with the rear hand which is slower because it has to cover more distance.

  • @yoshioofdeath your joking right. Considering there was petty much none of that in this video.

  • Aye yaye yaye... so utilizing economy of motion, closest weapon to nearest target, vertical fist, attack by combination, training equipment... simplicity... how on EARTH can you say this is NOT Jeet Kune Do, particularly from next-gen students??? This is as REAL as it GETs. Thank you for posting---excellent material from excellent teachers.

  • I take it Mrs. Balicki is a lefty..

    right?

  • @BigRoma1 Guro Ron is left handed.

  • You are questioning a man who studed with Dan Inosanto for more than 20 year......... Good Lord people, wake up !

2 people were certified as a level 3 Instructor under Bruce Lee

    Dan Inosanto, and James Lee.

Ron is trying to help people..... buy the DVD's and learn.

    RS

Apprentice instructor in Jun Fan/JKD under Rob Doley NB Canada

  • I don't understand why anyone would question Ron Balicki's knowledge of JKD concepts. I mean he is a full instructor under Dan Inosanto. WTF?? I seen this cat fight man he is no Joke

  • ACTUALLY that doesnt look anything like jeet kune do. No vertical fist, terrible bijong, leading with the rear hand. she better be left handed cause in JKD it's strong lead forward. these are basic things Bruce wrote in the Tao. Why you would not do these basic things and call it jkd but not only that but use bruce's name and call it jun fan jkd is just wrong.

  • @airdogaron It is just concievable that the the practicianers in this clip have researched their own experience and found no discernable benefit to religiously holding the vertical fist structure. Bruce fought strong side forward for reasons fairly peculiar to him as he readily admits, but also for tactical reasons that he thought at the time were important.

  • Now i understand how Ron Balicki knows soo much about Jeet Kune Do, he married Dan Inosanto's daughter, smart move.

  • so many things are missing for the original to much overlapping moves not proper technical

  • @tattoo21 If you know more than Dan Inosanto and Ron Balicki, who married Bruce Lee's god child, who happens to be dan,s daughter then you are welcome to try to teach the concepts.

  • This is a very great Drill. Especially since its done from the left lead.

  • Sifu Ron, I picked up your Defensive Edge series at the Cold Steel Challenge in Ventura! Worth every penny, IMO.

Your instructional material is helpful, and reinforces the principles taught at Sifu Adrian Tandez' school in California.

  • MMA is nothing new to many, and its great, but its not the end all be all to everyone. And for those sayin Ron couldnt do this or that, why judge so quick? Why comment at all? Oh yeah and as a side note, (sarcasm, lol)Ron was a shooto guy, lol, and competed, so id say he knows more about mma than most here. Thanks for the vid Ron, Im a fan for sure

  • thats bruce taughter?

  • @pulsare21 It's Bruce honorary God-Child actually. She's the daughter of living martial arts legend, Dan Inosanto, who was a student of Jeet Kune Do founder Bruce Lee.

  • Honestly, that looks nothing like Jeet Kune Do to me...

  • @kwok3d That honestly tells me you know nothing about JKD.

  • @Ronbalicki

    Are you lefthanded ?

Another question, where is the straight lead punch aka vertical fist, Jun Fan - isnt that what BL himself trained and taught ? I'd agree this is JKD, but JFJKD, i dont get it.

  • @Ronbalicki

    haha...ouch/touche

  • jkd is all about simple and direct, well that video show when opponent back up, how about he keep moving in like a street fighter, i feel it need to flow with clinch and take him down.Remember jkd man should hit or grab without thinking as you think it become slow and street fight happen in very fast so you got a split of second to reach his attack and the answer is intercepting which bruce call the way of intercepting fist or feet .

  • @Ronbalicki I am curious Sifu, were these drills invented by Bruce Lee or did Dan Inosanto invent them? One thing I don`t understand is Bruce Lee demonstrates in numerous photos and film and states the straight lead vertical fist is the core of Jeet Kune Do. Why are you punching with ping chuie and not chung chuie?

  • @kwok3d You realize who is in the video, don't you? You realize who they were taught by and continue to train with, don't you?

  • @kwok3d This is Classic Jeet Kune Do..

  • @kwok3d Why don't you explain to us what Jeet Kune Do looks like?? I see fighting, flowing, terminology, footwork, interception/simultaneous, choice of range, progressive indirect attack, .... what's NOT about JKD in this film... darn armchair warriors.

  • @kwok3d I'm not really a JKD fan, but my understanding is that JKD can be almost anything. It's not meant to be a fixed style. More something that can be used and improved upon.

It's an evolving system of principles. That's my understanding. I could be wrong.

  • @kwok3d lol. Dan Inosanto's daughter, and his son in law............yeah, they dont know anything about JKD. Are you crazy?

  • Is she hitting with her foot? That's dangerous on high level impacts.

  • @DuykRuyk I have seen her kick many people with it at very high impact myself included and she's not hurt herself to date.

  • @Ronbalicki I still wouldn't recommend it. I've seen countless people break their feet from kicking with their foot. I've also experienced a broken foot from a kick and its not fun. The shin is the safest kick. Also jkd uses more low kick, not high kick. High kicks throw the user off balance which is why Bruce almost never used them. This seems more like modified wing tsun.

  • @DuykRuyk Sigung Bruce used both the shin and the foot. This is not modified Wing tsun.

  • @Ronbalicki Ummm, JKD is modified wing tsun. Did you even learn wing tsun or are you just one of those guys who learns jkd only? Besides, when Bruce used his foot it was for stop kicks, not high kicks like what you're doing.

  • @DuykRuyk Ummm, not sure what you're talking about, did I ever learn Wing Tsun or JKD only? This is getting really dumb. Did you watch everything Bruce did? I know people who knew him and what he did. This is just really getting trivial, don't you think?

  • @Ronbalicki Bottom line I'm saying that this seems more like a jkd copy cat. Sure it has some things that are jkd, but jkd, the way bruce thought of it, is more similar to mma now days. That's what Bruce was striving for. The most practical and simple martial art possible that could constantly change with the flow of a fight. I only hope you're teaching or telling your students to do other things besides a traditional training regiment.

  • @DuykRuyk JKD copy cat, that tells me right there that you need to do more research. JKD is what we express, not what Bruce Lee does. I think that you mean Jun Fan Gung Fu.

  • @Ronbalicki Not really. Jeet kune do is supposed to be an assimilation of useful and simple techniques. This seems like jeet kune do but like I said, Bruce would never use high kicks. It goes against everything in his philosophy's and theories. Think boxing with wing tsun hand trapping. Now add low stop kicks and some judo throws. That is jeet kune do how Bruce first made it. But do what works for you is what he always said. If you like to use high kicks and get thrown off balance then go ahead.

  • @DuykRuyk Worked for me so far.

  • @Ronbalicki Go into a mma amateur fight. Record it. I wanna see. I've been in one and the stuff in this video will work with the average joe but won't with trained fighters. It's all about ground control.

Btw, I find it funny how Bruce didn't open any jkd gyms except the one but once he died they sprang up all over the place.

  • @DuykRuyk Your comments make no sense. Most martial artists are average joes training in a self defense system to defend against an average joe. Your chances of getting into a fight on the street with a trained fighter (mma, boxer, muy thai) is slim to none. Ever tried grappling on a hard surface, try it and you will see why most fights on the street DO NOT continue on the ground. People that fall on the ground on the street find a way to get back up because it hurts rolling around on concrete.

  • @DuykRuyk Do your research. Ron has fought in the ring. Do you know he was also a Cop?

  • @DuykRuyk Ron has fought MMA.

  • @DuykRuyk Again I ask - lineage?

  • @CalgaryPFS What about Lineage? You didn't ask anything about lineage. What's you lineage? Where are your videos teaching everyone the proper JKD kicks, punches and stances? I would love to watch them.

  • @Ronbalicki Not you Ron! I am more concerned with DuykRuyk's lineage being as he seems to have all the answers! I am MORE than aware of yours! I asked DuykRuyk about his lineage in an earlier comment and he has - as of yet - no answered.

I have a twofold lineage - recently (and hence more significantly) I am a PFS instructor with Sifu Vunak. I also have lineage through Guro Lee Banda form when I trained in the UK.

  • @CalgaryPFS Sorry, my itchy trigger finger. I thought it came from DuykRuyk.

  • @CalgaryPFS Well, I didn't receive any notice on my youtube account that I had a comment. Lineage is nice and all but really it comes to you. You could learn from the greatest grand master of shaolin wushu there is, but will that help you to escape the mount or a choke?

  • @Ronbalicki I do not understand this jkd controversy... is there some type of conflict between bruce lees student?

  • @DuykRuyk You are misinformed. JKD is not an assimilation of useful and simple techniques. If you are assimilating, (adding on or adding more) then how are u simplifying? Bruce looked at various arts but he didn't necessarily borrow from all the arts he looked at. The ones he borrowed from were then modified to fit in with his philosophy of Simple, Direct, Economical & Non Telegraphic.

  • @DuykRuyk maybe you should do some research into who Ron is before you post this garbage on here. the woman in the vid is Bruce Lees god daughter, and Ron has been Dan Inosantos student for more than 25 years, and as we all know Dan was Bruces student and training partner. so what could Ron possibly know bout JKD! (sarcasm) i have just one thing to say.... time to get out of the 70's!!

  • @DuykRuyk Actually MMA is similar to JKD not the other way around as the MMA we currently know of today has many principles borrowed from JKD the way JKD has borrowed from Wing Chun. MMA is not JKD, JKD is not WC. Yes Bruce was striving for a practical & simple martial art but not so it (the art) could change with the flow of a fight but so that he could change and flow with the fight. This clip is only a segment of the entire dvd. Ron says to train right and left sides.

  • @DuykRuyk Ummm wrong - look at ANY of the footage or photos of Bruce and he impacts with his foot.

It never ceases to amaze me how many no-marks come on here and try and tell people what JKD is or isn't.

BTW DuykTuyk what is your lineage or exposure JKD wise? I guess "none" - am I correct?

  • @DuykRuyk You need to research more from multiple sources before you comment. Those that know don't speak. Those that speak don't know. If you researched you would know that Ron has studied Wing Chun under Sifu Randy Williams. Look them both up.

  • @DuykRuyk This is not modified wing chun. More like simpliefied trapping, or obstruction removal so as to hit. Also there were no high kicks in this clip. As general rule we don't mainly kick above the waist.....(unless we can pull it off, kicking high that is). We kick anywhere from the waist down. That's what's being shown here. Yes Bruce kicked high if he could get away with it. He wouldn't limit himself to just kicking low. Though he emphasized kicking low he did train high kicks.

  • @MASponge1 If you can kick good high, you can kick even better low!

  • @DuykRuyk So you wouldn't recommend punching either since countless people have broken their hands punching someones face. Why hit anybody then?

You say that It's all about the ground. Really?

    CBSSsports

Official stats as of July 7 2009

Of the 1,163 UFC fights that actually took place: * 442 (38%) ended via KO or TKO. * 365 (31%) ended via submission.

It's impossible to argue with people who question everything. If you question Mr. Balicki, you will question anyone. Sad!!

  • because Royce Gracie cannot knout his opponent down cuz he not train to knout someone down like mas omaya with that kind of killing punch but Royce Gracie don't have that why he need to take his opponent down and submit his opponent.

  • Thank you Sifu Ron! Amen. Any decent Concepts-Kali fighter knows that Sijo Bruce Lee was always evolving the curriculum. And Guro Dan said that Sijo did not want his art stuck in a 1960's paradigm. Nice vid' BTW!

  • your wife does not have to hit anyone

    shes a knockout !!!!

    Now thats worth fighting for....

  • @newmedstudent Thanks, I will give her the message.

    Best whishes

    Ron

  • Thankyou for sharing this clip. Very interesting drills. Very usefull tool to have. I have found that there is much to learn from many styles, trapping being one of them. However all these drills are from a fighting stance at distance conflict doesn't always start at this distance not always have you got the (interview stage). People forget this sometimes. and train in sparring mode continuously,Regards....

  • I love this clip because it shows you an applicable way to do trapping from a traditional boxing stance and from the left lead. And I'm really impressed on how you explain "bridging" in a fight. AKA trapping and the low line kick. Great job Sifu Balicki!!

  • wow i doesento know that Diana is maried with Balicki ! coll.

i like her. as her father.

    congratulations.

  • hay guy if i you know darn well in jkd you do not from to not jab with the left . that what you get from inosanto and his schools. tell you what why don't you ask him about oakland jkd the real art

  • @mkalugdan

Actually this is very close minded thinking. You should be able to fire the jab from either left or right. Being a one sided fighter is extremely one dimensional and opens the door for error and being stuck in an encounter where you might get your head beat in. I do agree that you should fight from your strong side, but there is nothing wrong with being balanced on both.

This oakland vs seatle vs concepts vs original crap is worthless. Knock it off. Go read a book.

  • @mkalugdan Notwithstanding the fact that you need to work on BOTH sides you jab (or straight-lead) with whichever side is stronger - it has nothing to do with left and right. You really are displaying massive ignorance here.

  • I'm in love with Diana ; )

  • Those are great drills Sifu Balicki. I also like how you explain the application to the pak sau and how to apply it in a real fight. the reference toward "Enter the Dragon" was great. :-) So you can do trapping from a left fighting stance.

  • this woman is a " FILIPINA ". im proud of you

  • Are you an idiot? I have video's...

  • In jeet kune do, the arm that isnt punching must come straight into guard position, even if its for a split second....This woman does not do that. :S

  • Just now seeing this. This looks like part of a very interesting series. The Enter the Dragon reference was funny.

  • Hello, I have a question regarding the punches seen in this video. How come the punches are boxing styled i.e. knuckles up and stricking witht eh 1st 2 knuckles as oppose to the characteristic jeet kune do strike of elbow down/centered and stricking with teh bottom 3 knuckles? Your reply would be appreciated =)

  • @FU0C0 Because, we moved on from the 70's. Things change and Bruce lee also did western boxing.

  • @Ronbalicki Thanks so much for your reply! Is there any particular reason as to why you moved on? Cause the straightline and centreline principles in the JKD strike seemed pretty logical, especially in comparison to what's utilised in western boxing...or would I have to purchase the DVD to find out why =P

  • @Ronbalicki Yes but bruce lee Changed western boxing in many ways for himself, Last three knuckles, Indirect attacks, stance changes etc....and to say we have moved on from the 70's...is to say someone has gone against bruce lee's teaching and ignored them...

  • @JKDcalvin Do you actually think that Bruce would still be doing the same exact thing? Get out of the 70's. Where is your video? I want to watch it.

  • @Ronbalicki Bruce lee spent most of his life perfecting Jeet kune do....And he did perfect it. And stop saying get out of the 70's....bruce lee was the greatest..and even in today...NOBODY has become better than him. So the greatest martial artist is from the 70's and he will remain in the 70's as the greatest...you know so little about bruce lee and his jeet kune do so do not post video's about his martial arts.

  • @JKDcalvin You do need to get out of the 70's. Please post some videos of you doing this art the right way. I really want to see you perform.

  • @JKDcalvin

You have videos....you're kidding right? You need to get over your hero worship of Bruce Lee and show some respect to Guro Balicki. You might impress little Japanese school girls with your backyard punching bag antics, but Dude Your Videos Suck! You look like a nice juicy immobile target that any 3rd rate boxer would destroy.

BTW, it's quite obvious that your films are sped up. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @JKDcalvin look, i do like bruce lee and i practise original jeet kune do as well, but i hate the act that you are arguing and insulting sifu balicki. As we are all practitioners of the art we should respect each other. it is really hard to have a definitive version of JKd since sigung lee died so young, but you must except sifu balicki's as well as your own definition since he did train with sifu inosanto, one of Sigung Lee's most esteemd students and good friend.

  • @JKDcalvin Please respect all ideas of the art. I am an original JKD practitioner, but I respect the Concepts guys who train in Kali and Eskrima. You should to. And I've seen your videos. Not impressed. You look like another Bruce Lee fanboy. You kicks are all high kicks. They are also spinning hook kicks. Not a part of Original JKD curriculum. Maybe a part of Sigung Bruce's Movies. Your stance looks like a mix of Things from the Tao and Fighting Methods with Bruce's Movie Stance. Not Impressed.

  • @JKDcalvin - The fact that you claim Bruce Lee "perfected" Jeet Kune Do demonstrates beyond a shadow of a doubt that you know nothing about him or Jeet Kune Do. He would never have made such a claim himself. His whole teaching was centered in improvement and expansion of whatever works. The foundation he laid out remains useful, but it has been improved by people like Balicki and Inosanto, and it is far more thoroughly developed than it was in the 70's. Don't talk about what you don't know.

  • @JKDcalvin

"Be like water.". As I understand it he wasn't just referring to combat techniques and tactics. Times change and Bruce Lee would have undoubtedly changed with them. Maybe he would have incorporated more BJJ and/or Krav Maga in his personal style. Who knows?

Mr. Balicki, please don't bother yourself with the likes of people as this Calvin. It isn't worth your time.

  • @JKDcalvin Are you nuts? Look Bruce was always being progressive with his creation. In fact toward the end of his life he was starting to turn away from trapping, because it was becoming an art unto itself. He was always changing to adapt to the present day of his time. All that Guru Dan and Balicki have done is progrssed it further.

  • @JKDcalvin hey calvin if bruce was alive im sure he would mod the way he fights . u see there are new arts being created everyday . MMA . im sure bruce lee will make a way to easily destroy a MMA Fighter . he's iq/eq lvl is Unbelievable . we need to have a open mind about martial arts . because whats the harm learning useful technics from other MA

  • @JKDcalvin @JKDcalvin ridiculous arguig about how to do a jkd puch when jkd is supposed to be the way of no way,.... furthermore bruces daughter is in the video and ron is a student of dan inosanto,

I'm sure he knows what he's doing

  • Hmm a question...how come she's doing boxing styled punches? Correct me if I'm qrong but isn't a jeet kune do strike known for it's elbowdown/centerlined, vertical fist, bottom 3 knuckles chracteristics?

  • This is good stuff. Never seen wing chun trapping mixed with focus mitts before, more WC people should train like that.

  • she's ambidextrous

  • its traditionaly taught with the powerside forward but its obviously better to cross train so u can do everything in both, so ur not limmited.

  • Is Diana in a left lead instead of a right. the reason I'm asking is that the classic jun fan stance is usually in the right stance. If you can do this in left lead...great! I've been the right lead, but since I'm right handed I usually fight in the left lead. Other than that, very cool drill.

  • Thanks for the lesson.

    But i have a question...

If you want to break someones defence, how do you do that without risking yours? I mean, when your opponents arms are up, their muscles are hard, so you cant just move them away.... And i am nood that trained to do so easily.

And good explanation, i am from Germany and unterstood everything clearly, thx =)

Ps: Love the smile of your wife when you say '' this is my face ''

  • you can move them down i think,

  • inosanto , hahah the clown of BL hey, i dont even know u....fat.. boy...

  • @pornpan96 Why do you make ignorant comments just to get a rise out of people? Go reply to the millions of videos on religion or politics, those people love to argue.

  • Hey Ron what's the difference between this series and the Jun Fan Gung Fu DVDs your put out a couple years ago?

  • She's left handed?

  • She is both.

  • Is Diana in a Left Lead? I'm asking because usually the jun fan stance is in the right stance, but if you can do it in a left lead, great. Because I'm right handed and not a southpaw. Although I can fight in the right stance.

  • Wing Chun

  • I haven't had the honor to meet you your wife or father in law but I do want to say that I respect all of you and that I train with one of Dan's students, Rocky Twitchell. I also got to see some of Dan's videos that Rocky has. I'm looking forward to buying your videos so I can further my training. God Bless and DARE TO CARE! Carl "Highlander" Johnston. Sacramento Chapter of Guardian Angels

  • I just got my set last month.Thank you Sifu Ron!I really learn and enjoy your DVDs.You have the best instructional videos and you make me feel part of your student.Thank you sir!

  • just purchased the jkd series dvd. i cant wait to start training. great job sifu. u are really blessed to be doing what you love and to have such a beautiful wife to come home to. more power to you and your team.

  • awesome , diana moves so elegant and fluent exactly like guro dan!

  • Is that a Wing Chun punch after the pak?

  • respect!

  • Thanks

  • Dear Mr Baclicki would you be upset if I asked were you learned Fillipino Boxing?

  • Guro Dan Inosanto taught me.

  • Keep up the clips sifu... I always look forward to seeing the work you put up, especially with Diana, you two look great together and I wish the best... reminds me of the wife and I, and how we always train together... which sometimes can turn out bad... lol or good :) anywho looking forward to seeing you at Troy's school sometime this next summer.

    Peace and honor

    -Jess

  • Thanks Jess

  • He seems like a good instructor

  • The best jkd legacy.

  • awesome pad work

  • i don't understand why he's pushing the pads towards her punches...an opponent's head would rather move in the opposit direction

  • It's just how most people train with focus mits.

  • Pushing the pads towards your partner helps train them to pull their punches back, rather than just leaving them out there.

  • Its much more simple than that, its for protecting the pad holders joints. The pad holder gives a little bit of resistance which keeps their joints from being slammed over and over, keeping them from waking up the next day too sore to train again. It also gives the puncher some resistance and helps to build their tendon and joint strength as well.

  • no when you throw a punch your face comes forward

  • thats the proper way to feed the focus pads is when you hear that snap or pop but sometimes you dont hear not because the person punching doesnt have power but the pad man is feeding wrong thats an art form all by it self but yes but in combat a guy isn t going to move in to your punches common sense this is just a drill for hand sensitivity, accuracy and of course power.

  • One of the things I like about these drills is that they seem well designed to put an end to the weird posing people sometimes do when drilling their traps. You know what I mean. Pak to pak da (hero pose). This seems to bring out the idea that you better keep pounding away.

  • This is a great demo, Ron. A former student of mine said he had ordered some of your DVDs and was very impressed with your ability to explain the drills and the rationale behind each movement. I think it is wonderful that you and Diana have put attention on the Jun Fan focus mitt drills.

  • Ron, Diane! Is it good job! :)

  • The soundtrack is hott.

  • Simply the best, notice how fluid she moves. She can kick ass.

  • Hey there all... exactly which DVD is this from?

  • Advanced Focus Mitts

  • Thanks Ron. I will add it to my already extensive collection of Balicki/Inosanto DVDs. :)

  • again nice stuff. Still saving

  • go Diana! kick his butt! -_o

  • AWESOME!!!!

  • 5-5

  • Great stuff as usual. I hope to train with you again the next time you are in the Chigago area. Thanks.

  • Awesome skills as usual, the Inosanto legacy is definitely preserved with this sort of quality evident. Respect to you and Diane sir.
