We just did this piece tonight for my high school wind ensemble! Only instead of a slide show, we made a movie. It was a lot more challenging because we had to time everything perfectly as there was no stopping. But very well put together!

When i played this at my high school, i played the bass drum. It was the best percussion part written and i played it like a BOSS! my bass drum attacks we 20 times louder than this recording :)
I love the enthusiasm with the screams, it's a nice touch. We're playing this in my community concert band soon, my instructor hasn't passed out the music yet, but we're eager to start playing! (I particularly enjoyed the Frank Sinatra part, LOL.)
we played this when i was a freshman at benicia hs, and we (the colorguard) actually acted out the stuff. live. and we couldn't find a scary dino costume or anything so we had this barney-type happy dinosaur running around...it was great lol
we played this for my senior year at Green Bay East High School and it was epic. We threw a ton of confetti at the celebration scene. Children in the crowd were screaming and crying because we had one french horn player playing Godzilla and she was good
Sorry, but at 3:34, that is ridiculously stupid; the guy could have put more enthusiasm in it.
My high school's concert band and wind ensemble played this song together; we had a slide show, we had a godzilla head popping up from the side of our jazz band stage, we actually made it seem like we were actually there, witnessing this whole thing.
I closed off my time in band playing this song in my final concert. from 4th grade to 12th grade, the only song that matched playing this was Pilatus Mountain of Dragons. SOOO much fun, we owned it.
Wow, it's amazing how many of us are playing this for band! But then again, who else would be looking up this song? XP
Our Wind Ensemble is going to be playing this our Spring Concert; I'm playing 2nd Trumpet. 1st Trumpet definitely has the cooler (and more difficult) parts!
I was in the Northern California Community College Honor Band in 1997. We were the second group to ever perform it after the UNLV Wind Symphony. Tom Leslie, who is UNLV's Director of Bands, was our conductor and brought this piece. Needless to say, I've played Hindemith, Vaughan Williams, Schwanter....this is still my favorite concert piece of all time!! Bravo FSU Concert Band!

And what makes the sound of the dog barking? Is it a person, or a clarinet?
CharlieBladeRemus 5 months ago
@CharlieBladeRemus its actually a person barking

I have a question, do they use an actual shakuhachi flute at that one part? Because I can't see any flutes playing...
CharlieBladeRemus 5 months ago
@CharlieBladeRemus It was just a piccolo.
