"The Spirit" Review (Well, Sort Of)

Apparently, according to Miller the toy dino was something he tried to get in his movies.... don't ask. And it wasn't suspposed to be like "Sin City." It was meant to be like the old campy film noirs. The way they spoke was meant to be unnatural, it's how film noir characters speak...... The only thing about the movie that really bugged me(aside from them melting a kitten) was when the Octopus said that the Spirit was as dead as Star Trek

Dude, the dinosaur part was a complete blasphemy! It shows how much you don't know our fellow Frank Miller. If you had read just a few Sin Cities, you would have noticed a bunch of dinosaurs randomly thrown in there. It's weird and pointless, yes.. but Frank sure likes to draw them. And they're sure cool creatures to look at.

I think the random-dinosaur appearance in the movie was just some kind of signature or little joke or something. Maybe irrelevant to you, but the fans certainly liked it!

Every one has theyr own oppinnion on movies. personally? loved the movie, the whole ADHD and fetish for cosplay for the villain was HILARIOUS and I liked the movie a lot. it made me laugh. like I sed, every one has theyr oppinnions. I guess im just weard. because I love movies like the spirit, ghost rider, tank girl and such, but hate the new batman. im just glad the world is full of oppinnions, (saying this, becuse it pisses me off that people are dissing the peopel that disagree with others.)

The thing is everyone says pretty much the same thing the critics say. So.. that's what happens. The Spirit HAS to suck. The Joker HAS to be a legend. So people just agree. (of course it doesn't happen to absolutely everyone, but it sure happen a lot... or maybe it's just a huge coincidence that regular random people have the same opinion of badass crictics)

If you are interested in "The Spirit", you would know it is a comic book from the start, and thats why they made it the way they did it. The Octopus dresses up in a special theme everyday depending on how he feels that day...

Any reasonably read student of Eastern philosophy would instantly realize that the Egg is an allegory to the new moon which is a symbol of fertility. When the moon is red in the sky it is said the matriarch of the village (usually the comeliest lass of 15 or 16) is ovulating. The Octopus's disdain for eggs is merely a plea against any act of oral copulation during such period.

If you don't know that - you shouldn't be doing film reviews.

Meh. I thought the visual styles of the movie were pretty interesting. The plot, upon retrospect, made absolutely no sense whatsoever. But it was still interesting to see. I'm not going to go out and see it again, but it was an....interesting experience.
