@Marc16Jacobs16 Thanks! I did a tutorial for it earlier this year. If your annotations are turned on you will see a purple box around the photo. Click that and it will take you to the tutorial :)
Sheets are my mainstay when doing theatre costumes... My 85 yr old mother has made over 200 pillowcase dresses using all sorts of sheets that I find at Goodwil, rummage sales and yard sales, The dresses were sent to Hati and to Uganda . I don't think I could really list all the things we do with sheets, pillowcases, table cloths and fabric shower curtains... good material that can be used.. love your ideas and the things you made... great role model
@Trayne1837 That's awesome! I have a friend who has been to Uganda many times along with her family. The group work with provides pillowcases dresses and other items for the children there. Next year they are going to make school uniforms for them and I'm hoping to help out!
My husband brought home a "bed in a bag" set that he found on clearance. It was king size. We have a queen size bed. His heart was in the right place. Out of the sheets and pillowcases I managed to scrap together a summer dress, several pillow covers, living room window toppers and a slip cover for our oversized chair! We use the comforter as an extra blanket for cold nights. Not bad for $10 mistake!
I love the floral skirts!! I need to start sewing again. Even new sheets are thriftier than buying fabric by the yard!! But there is just something about vintage fabric that's wonderful to touch
@emmer84 Yes, I ship internationally. I don't list all the rates because I like to get them as closely as possible so I don't overcharge anyone. I can take it to the post office on Monday and get the exact shipping cost for you if you want :)
Love your projects. I've made a gown from a crisp cotton sheet. So crisp that it ripped. I've also made several tops and little girl dresses from pillowcases.
love it whitney I have been collecting vintage sheets (antique hand embrodered baby linens, peanuts (snoopy), vintage disney, rugrats) for years because I dreamed of using them one day! :-D
@hipretty That's awesome! I also have vintage snoopy sheets (70s) but am saving them! I got them about 10 years ago and used them for quite a while. Also have the original Toy Story sheets (not quite vintage, but still cool). Both of those sets are still at my parents house.
W~ I <3 your young at <3 clothing & accessories! I had Toy Story sheets too. I finally turned them into no sew window drapes in my sons room. I also took off heavy (scarey) sliding closet doors in the room fearing it could fall off the track. I hung 2 more drapes (sewn simply w/ a rod pocket) from different woody fabric to replace the doors. They all seem to go together even if the Toy Story sheets are older, because it's all the same theme. The sheets were $1.99 & the fabric on sale at WMart!
Love it, I never looked in the sheet section of thrift stores for fabric until I started watching your videos and love it. LOL In fact I just picked up the cutest monkey sheet the other day I am going to turn into PJ pants for me and will still have some fun monkey fabrc left.
@opallb Awesome! Aren't sheets the best?!? When I first started using them for fabric and told people they thought I was crazy...but I didn't care. I really love the flannel cracker jack sheet I used to make pj pants for me and my sis-in-law :)
My grandmother had an actual Danger Mouse cloth hanging around her collection of fabricks, and I desided, that I would make a skirt out of it XD Whats funny, is that I knew what Danger Mouse was, but nobody else in my family had no idea what the #ell it was XD
I love the TMNT messenger bag! Hope you do a tutorial in the future from it.
