  • Now everyone that is 21+ can get on the reduced list @ Club Guilt Saturday nights only in Boston, MA...

  • I bet if you guys knew what G mutai and makau had in store you would have edited you response. Am Kenyan but my favorite runner is Kebede from Ethio, the most consistent marathon runner ever...but be open minded since Kenyans are so good that it's hard to choose three runners for the olympics.

  • Marathon Pro...

  • Mutai finished LIKE A BOSS. It's amazing that even at the end his form was so smooth. Mosup looked like he was about to pass out. Mutai looked like he could have turned around and ran back.

I'm a fan of Gebrselassie but I've no doubt his record on a flat course won't last for long.

  • no rule against tailwinds, only in sprinting. the course finishes at a lower elevation then it starts at, thats why it doesnt count.

  • @MrWakethesheeple Loving the responses to my concerns for the winner of the Men's 2011 Boston Marathon. I am not much of a distance runner but i will have to agree that i much rather run with a " tailwind " on a nice cool day in Boston any day !!!!. ; - )

  • tail wind. downhill. whatever! amazing performance! i run like that when i'm staring at my eyelids at 3:30am.

  • What a fantastic time on a classic course, but let's face it, the Boston course is not certified and never will be: hills or no hills, overall it's downhill, and the start and finish are too far apart - point to point courses are not eligible given the possible advantage of strong tailwinds, which is what happened here!

  • it is unfaired he did his best, it´s necesary to accept his time as a new record, specially for the hills along the race

  • @zullette1

Have you ever run a race with over 100m net downhill? you betcha that will make a positive effect on pace. Sure, this is a fast time, but the alternative of accepting it as world record would mean people would start running courses with even larger net downhill to secure world record; I know it sucks, but what can you do.

  • thnx for the feedback. just needed to get a better understanding of what it takes to be a world competitor in the filed of long distance running. A tail wind or not i still think he qualifies for the record. It's just my opinion.

The finish time is a finish time. :-)

  • The boston course is not certified for world records because it is a net downhill course. Also, there was a serious tailwind today which helped him out.

  • So, I understand this poor man that won the race, his name will not be entered in the world book of records for his achievements today.. Can someone please clarify the issue with the course record. :-)

    Thnx
