I also didn't quite get the album at first... I was pretty stuck on the previous one which I still love, but after hearing a few times now I love this album just as much. Brilliant tunes!
The best way to think about Saosin(and any bands work in general) in terms of the differences in their albums is to think about painters....No one would have cared about Monet and Van Gogh if they kept on painting the exact same thing all the time....The true measure of any artist is how they can grow, expand, and change things up while still keeping their own style. Different=/=bad
@Nathankuncevich couldnt put it any better myself, these guys know what theyre doing, other people that dont like their new stuff are just missing out (:
this is not the saosin i used to grow up with. but growing in music is a part of a musician which they tend to express their thoughts and feelings for a new wave of making their sound much bettter, ANYWAYS. love the song. i feel like that im in a seaside daybreak.
This is by far my favorite album of theirs. Actually after listening to a lot of similar bands, I wasn't very fond of their earlier work, but this album really spoke to me. Specifically this song itself really sits heavily.
I don't think they're a christian band, but I know that Cove Reber was raised christian, so his religion probably does influence some of the lyrics he writes.
@willpower313 the song 7 years is about how he was raised a christian, but gave it up for seven years. he says that pushing someone away was a "golden mistake". i dont know if he means god or the consequence of that (his family). possibly is a Christian again now. i know they toured with the Christian band Anberlin (one of my faves :D) once. that was after cove joined though...
so in the end ive been no help at all. lol. maybe someone should just ask cove and the rest if they are christian's.
The members of the band IS Christian, but they aren't a Christian band. Plus, Cove is mormon. This song talks about God, but that's it. Nearly the rest of the album talks about Cove's struggle with his past relationship with an ex.
The "Still Small Voice" refers to the voice of God. Whole song is almost a reference to the passage "1 Kings 19:11-13"
An example: "And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice."
@hearmepeeps 7 years has nothing to do with cove he wasn't even in the band when that song was written anthony green was still the singer at that time.
@bountyman108 Cove(singer) is lds more commonly known as mormon. he dosnt drink, smoke or have any tattoos and some of there music has a bit of religiousness in it. like the title of this song is, i know because i'm a member of the same church.
@solidsnake370 Way to be! :) Cove is the man! I don't care what anyone else says. His range is sick and his voice is so distinct. I was stoked when I saw the title of this song, I'm a member too ;)
@brettleemathews Yeah, it was funny cause in sunday school we were talking about the holy ghost and i was like, 'the alarming sound of a still small voice'..then only one person in my class got it haha. and yeah. cove can wail.
Easily my favorite song on the album. The title is a mouthful to say, though....
