@TheJcanno8 Sometimes projecting a little humor into a serious subject allows others to understand it better without getting too offended. Plus, I'm a little weird! LOL
@sandman4224 Wrong is wrong. As a supposed ex-police officer if I were to walk up and say "I am gonna kill you someday motherfucker". You'd arrest me. That's not free. I can't go into a nursery school and read Penthouse letters. That's not free. We may indeed have only small, and reasonable restrictions on speech but saying it is free is like saying a $1 hot dog is a free hot dog. It's a great deal...but free it isn't.
@MichaelnChristine No need for vitriol, my friend. I respect your opinion - I just don't agree with it fundamentally. Words are words. The actions taken after the words are what you may be referring to - those would be consequences IMHO but the speech is free and sometimes necessary when it comes to an over-reaching state.
@sandman4224 Right and in a police state you can say whatever you want (thereby having free speech) but then you pay the consequences and are killed. Being killed doesn't stop you from having free speech, it's just a consequence.
@MichaelnChristine WTF are you talking about? Your police state example is absurd and contrary to basic logic. Your example is not that of "free speech" but of a violation of a law imposed by some totalitarian state, of which there are many actually. Yes, the threat of death or imprisonment/fine certainly does prevent free speech. If you have a right to something, there are no "consequences" with respect to the police powers of government in its exercise.
@Blndrfist You are messaging the wrong guy. That was my point. Sandman4224 thinks that the US has absolutely free speech even though you can't cuss in several states, you can't read porn to children, you can't speak threats, you can't make rude comments to cops. The US is a police state, if a moderate one. You need to read the whole convo....
@MichaelnChristine I've read your exchange and you're a complete failure. You're just plain wrong on most things so it's really no use even engaging you actually; I think you're too undereducated to comprehend.
@Blndrfist Clearly not. You are arguing my position back at me and expecting me to argue against it. You clearly didn't read the exchange. Speaking of failures. LOL
@MichaelnChristine Actually wrong again; your position is that we do not have free speech. That position is absurd as are your "examples" allegedly proving no free speech. You're delusional.
So you honestly believe that in the USA we have absolutely free speech with no limits? That's what this guy is claiming. My examples are legit and deliberately extreme. You also can't yell fire in a crowded theatre, or lie to the IRS, both of which infringe on "absolute" free speech. The limits on free speech in the US may indeed be minimal but we do NOT have absolute free speech and calling me names won't make you right. Give me one proof that we can say whatever we want whenever we want.
@Blndrfist Sorry you agree with this statement " The actions taken after the words are what you may be referring to - those would be consequences IMHO but the speech is free and sometimes necessary when it comes to an over-reaching state."? Because this says that the consequences are separate from the freedom which is what I was arguing AGAINST. If there are consequences for speech it isn't free. PERIOD.
@MichaelnChristine You argument is a fail all around; the fallacy is that you define free speech in an absolute vacuum without reference to other rights or aspects of society. There are no consequences to "free speech"; that is correct. What is incorrect is to define "free speech" in the manner you have done. This is why you fail. Time/place restrictions on how speech is exercised are a practical reality; other rights/aspects are of equal importance. You are missing the balancing test.
@Blndrfist You really are slow. You keep agreeing with me and then phrase it like you don't. The part in quotes WASN'T ME. Get it through your skill you illiterate rube.

Unfortunately, like many successful republics of the past, America has become decadent and corrupted from within. The strong minded freedom loving citizens of yesteryear have left their prize unprotected. There is hope, though. Through an ever increasing awareness made possible by the internet we, as a sovereign nation can blossom again. People are starting to become aware of the hidden government creeping in around them and it takes only a tireless few to set the ship right.
@BadGravity01 It is TERRIBLE! These United Nations internationalist came into the United States and began creating the "U.N. @BadGravity01 and it is done, in my opinion, to subvert the ideas in the U.S. constitution and to undermine the sovereignty of the United States with gradual training- from the time americans are young kids in school. I give it one more generation or two and people will literally be going to the U.N. church to praise the mighty U.N. probably....

Thanks for the comment but you are mistaken. God given rights shall not be infringed upon. Consequences for actions taken, such as yelling FIRE(when there is no fire) in a crowded theater, is something you may be alluding to. Reading the Constitution, on the other hand, does not equate. I commend these women for their courage and activism. Remember what Thomas Paine said,"It's the duty of the patriot to protect his country from his government."
God, Creator, Supreme Force in the Universe, one and the same. Word games are what got this country in trouble to begin with. The Constitution was written for the common person to understand. We are born with unalienable rights regardless of the name attached. Those who want to rule and enslave us have abominated our language in stealth. Now many have rightly resisted this overzealous action.
It cannot be harmful to others, be offensive to the general public, or utilize government time/space to deliver a message. The test for acceptable speech is pretty clear in Supreme Court precedence... reading the constitution in public is not a violation, but this is for courts to decide, not police officers.
Look, we don't read the constitution. We are not interested in it. The most important thing is how Islam is ruining our life and our freedom. And also Islam is taking people prisoners, spiritually and personally. How is that for a fact?

Yeah ! Free speech should be free to the extream. police should defend the right of the individual to protest as equaly as they protect the people being protested against.
I found a video which shows just how free speech should work. If you want to see Free speech in action in a true democracy. You should watch this America and realise you dont got any freedoms because you sold out and now there coming for YOU !

Um, tell this goofball that laws passed by congress are not the ONLY laws we have to abide by. While Congress has limited authority to make laws limiting speech, the judicial system has VAST power to do so - and they have. There is an ocean of common law decisions on free speech. But learning about that would be too much for an idiot like this.
You just keep taking the blue pill and be a good little minion of the establishment and wrap yourself in "case law", my barrister friend :) - the pain between your ears is called cognitive dissonance - it goes away when you stop fighting it.
We all need to donate to Ron Paul TODAY! If only 1 percent of America gives one dollar, that would amount to roughly 2.7 million dollars. I think that WE THE PEOPLE are much more than 1 percent of this once great nation.

That's what happens when you give a badge and a gun to a dumbed-down cretin.
Those imbeciles don't even remember they swore to protect the Constitution and THE PEOPLE, not the corrupt government. Protect and serve (the people)... or do us all a big favor and resign.

That's a good idea! The next time a cop or authority is in violation of the constitution, read back to them the oath the took!!

@jen472 yeah thats alex in the background, i was listening to alan watts earlier- the man has good stuff to say, alex yells too much- but thats his way of doing things. If i had a radio spot i would be too soft spoken, and let a glenn beck yell, then id say simple quick things... not good for radio lol

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Um, tell this goofball that laws passed by congress are not the ONLY laws we have to abide by.

Go Ron Go!
