  • I'd be pissed off if I was a Jew too. Those guys kind of got jipped on culture. They got... Jewed! lol

  • @DM5ive9 Twice as many Jewish refugees after 48 than Arab refugees. How funny that the rest of the world forgets this fact.

  • I need to watch this film again.

  • Oh, that's it.

  • Jews were persecuted first and continue to be persecuted to this day. Naturally they must resort to violence to defend themselves. I guess you have a problem with self-preservation. I guess all Jews should just lay down before their persecutors and allow themselves to be destroyed so then you wouldn't have to deal with them or their hard earned success. Is that right?

  • @KUTVgroucho tell that fool!

  • Good acting but blatant Hollywood/Jewish propaganda, which presents the Jews as always persecuted and never persecuting others, which is much more often the case. See, e.g., E Michael Jones's writings at Culture Wars.

  • @darrelldw713 What a ridiculous and bigoted comment. Egypt, Rome, the Middle Ages, 19th century pogroms and the Holocaust? Even if you consider the Palestinians to be persecuted -- which I won't enter into here -- Jews have had millions upon millions killed. E Michael Jones is known as an anti-Semite nutter who has stated Judaism is an evil ideology, and also praised Gaddafi as acting "in the interest of the Libyan people".

  • ...i was only asking

  • Quincy Jones did the music

  • He added about a thousand years on to the Hebrew calendar. Can you do that? ;)

  • I watched this one night, I was so tired, but because it was so good I forgot about sleep, and enjoyed this film.

  • @BunWackettBuzzard you gonna get a piece of cloth?

  • @glorp896 Of course I am, buy it for a penny, then sell it for two pennies.

  • @BunWackettBuzzard try not to jew anybody....

  • @glorp896 I will try, but I can't promise. LOL =P

  • @BunWackettBuzzard and watch out for the hoodie nigger wigger paki riot crowd... make sure you give those street fools good cloth deals... make them nice hoodies with it...

  • A dynamo on screen, few can match his intensity and power. In "No way to treat a lady" he does a scene toward the end, it's a tour de force and one you won't forget.

  • Sidney Lumet, rest in peace, your talent in the movie industry was exceptional and sensational. You will be missed dearly.

  • @nikabou WORD...i just finished reading "making movies" a must for any Lumet fans for insight into how his great mind worked

  • I watched part of this last night. It was good but I had to sleep.

Will deffo try and watch again

  • I just wish to see the scene where Morgan Freeman appears on street...

  • @mamebugfinder where is he

  • 52 Likes CAN'T be wrong.....

  • Great movie.

  • @wichrau

This has the distinction of being the first of the "holocaust" movies.

  • Am I rostered for overtime tonight?

Shall I start the stocktake, then?

    Cheers.

    from,

    del-boy.

  • Sorry but that isn't Morgan Freeman. I think the actor's name was Jamie Sanchez.

Great movie, way ahead of its time.

  • @Jercarp55: You're right about Sanchez, who was also in Sam Peckinpah's "The Wild Bunch".

  • ...and a young Morgan Freeman too, saying "you people"!.

Did anyone recognize him?... it's a hard job

  • He was a good man, but something died in his heart. Incredible film and a personal favorite.

  • They gave him the Oscar two years later when they realized that OOPS--we made

another mistake by him not winning in '65 for this---this is one of the GREATEST

performances I have ever seen by any actor EVER.......

  • @tennispro561 he also should have won for Dr. Zhivago

  • Best Line:

You are known as a usurer, a man with secret resources, a witch, a pawnbroker, a sheenie, a makie and a kike!

  • True then and true now.

  • steiger won for the wrong movie. this is his definitive performance

  • @jferkfjkj

absolutely. I think his "Heat of the Night" Oscar was "an apology" for not winning for this movie. can't believe the 1964 Best Actor Oscar went to Lee Marvin "and a horse". WHAT a JOKE!!!

  • @LeRinkRat the Oscars are notorious for fucking people over teh Oscar for Tender Mercies was an apology to Robert Duvall he was robbed for the Great Santini. I love Deniro but fuck that Boo Radley should have won!

  • @jferkfjkj "steiger won for the wrong movie"

I think Rod Steiger's win as police chief Gillespie in "In the Heat of the Night" in 1967 was really an "Academy apology" for passing him over in favor of "Lee Marvin and a Horse" in 1965. considering the five actors nominated that year and their rolls, Lee Marvin in Cat Ballou would have been my last choice.

I think Steiger also got screwed for Best Supporting Actor for "On The Waterfront" in 1954 although that group was stronger competition.

  • Rod Steiger's best role. He really screwed the kid over in the movie, though.

  • That plan for sucess would put all the how to be rich scams out of business

  • @gamehound83

    What about all those shmutters!

  • Rod Steiger is the best actor I've ever seen....no doubt.

  • James Mason was much better than Rod Steiger was

  • The best movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Steiger and Richard Burton ("The Spy Who Came in from the Cold") lost the 1965 Best Actor Oscar to Lee Marvin for "Cat Ballou". What?

  • could you two do this in private?...

  • There is a lot of truth to this. Jews were relegated to certain professions (lending, usury, medicine) since they weren't allowed to join medeival guilds (along with endless other restrictions). Now all the anti-Semites will jump on this.

  • @alextubeta19

That's how I understood it. In medieval Europe Jews were not allowed to join the trade guilds OR own land to farm on. At the same time medieval Christianity forbade lending money for interest (as did Islam) so Jews gravitated to the only occupations open to them. Although I gather in Eastern Europe and Russia the farming restriction must not have applied (Fiddler on the Roof?). That still leaves the question of the tailoring and jeweler professions.

  • @pinz2022 That's why when Napoleon the Great banned usury and wanted to assimilate them, he insisted that Jews from outside France who settled there should adopt a family name, buy land, serve in the armies and civil service and become property-owners and farmers.

  • @pinz2022 Right. In the Pale of Settlement in Belarus, Jews were allowed to farm. But not in Galacia where my dad came from. He said Jews were largely either very rich grain merchants who colluded on prices they paid to growers or poor peddlars just trying to survive. He saw the Cossacks come through during WWI and hack the beards off these men. Fifty years later he still talked about this.

  • One of the best pieces of character acting based on an understanding of the in-depth psychology of the character on celluloid. A captivating, stunning and unforgettable film. they don't make them like this anymore...

  • One of the most powerful screen performances of all time!

  • I went looking for this movie at Blockbuster, as if were actually going to be there! All they have is the newly-released crap. Looks like I'll have to go to NetFlix or something. Where can I find all these obscure classics?

  • i got this movie .. great.

  • This guy was such a great actor.

It's amazing how his performance in "The Amityville Horror" is some of the worst acting ever filmed.

  • the music doesnt belong

  • The music doesn't belong? How's that? It's Harlem, New York and the score is based on jazz and other dramatic elements. It doesn't get any better than that!

  • fuck harlem, new york and jazz and dramatic elements. there should be no music in films. then again, there should be no films. whatever. in the next life (just kidding), i'll rule the world.

  • You sound like a fucking retard.

  • no. i sound aggressive and intelligent. i frighten you.

  • Yeah, I'm shaking in my e-boots. Your wit horrifies me.

    LOL.

  • sarcasm is the protest of the weak. too late. i've already fucked you and made you pregnant.

  • Look out for this guy, he means srs business.

  • I love you.

  • thats meaningful only if you have big soft tits that spill out around my hands and a throbbing dripping vagina and willing asshole

  • Pfft. I take back my love!! No ass for you. D:<

  • so easy

  • a caveman could do you?

  • a resort to nonsense

    too late

  • Oh okay. I still love you though.

  • no shit

you all want the eternal alpha cock

but also the last word like a junkie wants a fix

    never

  • hahahahaHAAAAAAA. No.

  • you freaks

    no what

  • I shall have the last word hyah.

  • blah blah blah. Like I'm gonna read all that.

    You need huggings.

  • you came over every word you need cockings

  • @mayitpleasethecourt You fucking garbage faggot fuck your dad in the ass.

  • Very disappointing - after the book, where Solly has NO EMOTIONS! Still, please put up the whole film in parts, since it is a classic story! Hope there are black actors who can fill those roles! Russia: Dost. Germany: Peter Lorre. US: The Pawnbroker!

  • Incredible. What compression. It doesn't get any better.

  • What an actor? Any chance of poting some other scenes from this great film? Many thanks.

  • Sure, tell me which scene.

  • @Excaveneau

the scenes with "Mr Smith" (Juano Hernandez), who fancies himself an "intellectual", interacting with Nazerman are excellent. also "teach me about money" and the junky trying to sell the radio.

  • What an actor!! Any chance of posting some other scenes some day? The moment where he puts the spike throght his hand is a textbook scene for method actors.

  • prophecy!
