  • ahhhh me using dial up when 3 every time it made this noise i had to be with my dad it scared the hell outa me as a kid

  • I hate dubstep

  • @gezux1 I'm with you there, haha!

  • Love the drop.

  • Size: 3000KB

    Time left: 10 minutes

  • @Win2KFan "Anyone touches that phone and they're DEAD."

  • I called my friend.

    She said 'hello'.

I played this video with the phone next to the speaker.

She thought my phone was acting demonic. xD

  • Ohhh... that sound.... it makes me happy

  • my ringtone!

  • EVERYONE BEHOLD THE FIRST DUBSTEP EVER MADE

  • Dial up scares me

  • Everybody look up: Dial up sound mp3 mediafire for this audio. No joke, I just did it.

  • @kingbooger94 There's also a handy link the the description too ;)

  • Is anyone else having trouble with the mp3 file? It's telling me the folder is missing.

  • @cubbydude3 Should be fixed now! ;)

  • @ThePhoneUpdate It is indeed. Thank you, good sir!

  • the kids nowadays probably don't even know this, this sound is classic, cause any other sound means bad connection!

  • @tedchou12 Ohh I can most definitely remember dial-up :)

  • Downloaded it, it was classified as blues

  • @DeejayMnM Yep!

  • Ah the sound of history! Who still uses dial up?

  • @ubaksh11 Technically those little "3G internet sticks" are a form of Dial-up, so me occasionally :)

  • @ThePhoneUpdate At least it doesn't take a week to load a Netfix show on 3G!

  • @ubaksh11 I wouldn't really want do do much more than 240p YouTube on the 3G connection I get, but that's great if it works for you ;)

  • 3 people still use a 56k modem, and can't watch this video.

  • que nostalgia da oir este sonidito.

  • man....so nostalgic

  • I hated (remember, "d"!) this sound. But it makes me remember the old time.

  • BACK IN THE DAY!! Oh my god

"Nobody use the phone, I'm on the internet!!"

  • may sum1 please explain the meaning of this sounds? i mean why would the internet had to make this sounds to connect?

  • @wadeNYC1 It's called the "Handshake" or something like that. You're basically hearing the "chat" between the 2 computers.

  • @ThePhoneUpdate does this hand shake have to be vocal i mean cant it be transmited like data does nowadays, with multiple ways... or atleast why wasnt it set in a frequency that cannot be detected by human to avoid the anoyingness

  • @wadeNYC1 Computer signals are computer signals. Ever herd a commodore 64 cassette played on a stereo? Same kinda principal as this. "Data nowadays" would probably sound similar if you herd it.

  • Where Radiohead got their inspiration from.

  • ماذا تفعلون هنا يالأجانب خخححححححححححححححححححححححححححححححححححححححححححححححح

  • @MNTHY1 It may interest you to know that I have absolutely no idea what you said, nor the keyboard to reply. But thanks for the comment none-the-less! :)

  • @ThePhoneUpdate

dear i'm from saudi arabia and i just wanted to comment by our language for fun only

    whoever thangs

  • uuuuuuuuuuuuh I hate that sound.

serving the internet back then was nerve racking.

  • آشتغل النت :)

  • @Da7eeeM شكرا!

  • Dad: "Son, your mom and I have to talk to you"

    Me: "Why, mama and papaaaaa?"

Dad: "Son, did you perhaps visit any porn sites?"

Me: "Errrr...hehehe.....no...errr...why would you think so, father?"

Dad: "Well son, we've got this BIG ASS BILL WITH THE TIMES YOU WERE ON THE INTERNET JERKING OFF TO 'HOT TEENS' on our phone bill!"

    Me: ".................................................."

*goes to room, lying in corner in fetal position with thumb in mouth*

  • user: ok, im now downloading a 1.90mb file.

30 min later, download 90% complete.

    user: olmost done.

*phone rings* ( the internet gets cut off.)

user: oh-crap! now i have to start all over.

i still use dial-up internet access, and this does happen somtimes.

  • I miss this so much! :)

  • ok, i downloaded it, now i need to find a way to get it to my phone as ringtone, hmm reminds me i need Darth Vaders theme for when my boss calls

  • @MetalH34d Either Bluetooth or via USB, depends on your phone and PC.

  • @MetalH34d myxer.com

  • I miss that sound!

  • @Lellebelleke89 ...but not the speed :)

  • @ThePhoneUpdate

No not the speed, but i like old things.

9 years ago i was visit my mother's best friend, i used her computer because we had no internet in 2002.

And when we got internet in 2007, i thought that i would hear that sound again.

But it was gone, everything from internet was changed!

And that's why i miss that old dial-up internet sound.

But the speed what we have now, is much better than before ...

The computer of my mother's best friend was pretty slow actually! :P

  • I want this to be my ringtone. Flash backs to sneaking onto the internet and fearfully dialing up, terrified that mom and dad would hear it and yell at me for staying up to chat with strangers on AIM.

  • Fuck, I still remember hearing this sound. I can replay it over and over in my head from memory.

  • @AudioDruid88 That's why CDs we're still so popular I guess, The quality of that mp3 probably would have been awful after all that wait anyway :)

  • Screw Brittney Spears! Screw N*Sync! Screw Backstreet Boys! Screw Eiffel 65! Screw Eminem

This 28 second sound clip is the REAL soundtrack to the 90s!

  • @lifevest1 I hate all of those artists anyway. Pop music sucks.

  • You forgot to put in the "Get off the phone!" mp3 right after the "WAZAAAAAAAAA!" mp3.

    Gotta love the 90s

  • it sounds someone is farting at 0:14

  • @daand12 You're not the first one to think that either buddy ;)

  • 3 people use AOL

  • earrape at its best

  • good old days .....

  • I miss that sound !

  • Oh, my Childhood. :')

  • u can literally heer it surfing the network

  • For some reason i crack up every time at 0:14

  • @CCDProductions1 haha! It faintly kinda sounds like an explosion!

  • @CCDProductions1 haha it is pretty funny, sounds like your computer's farting

  • DJ dial up XD

  • hahahahahahaha omg this brings me to a painfull memory

  • BEST SOUND EVA!!!!!!111

  • ya un clasico de la historia este sonido!!

  • @evogecko Gracias por el comentario, pero tengo que usar traductor Google que usted entiende :) Es muy inusual para mí para obtener comentarios español

  • @ThePhoneUpdate OK thanks for the message!!

  • I would stare at my sister when she used the IM on AOL because I loved to hear that chimes sound. Ah, the good ol' days. xD

  • This is the language of the Webriders from Reboot.

  • @narukofan2 ??? You've lost me there man :)

  • @ThePhoneUpdate you haven't seen the computer animated series called Reboot. I suggest you watch Reboot Season III to get the reference. Reboot is actually is an awesome t.v series.

  • @narukofan2 Depends where you live I suppose, haven't herd of it in the UK, or maybe I'm just missing it :) Sounds pretty cool though.

  • @ThePhoneUpdate it is pretty cool. I think you can get the complete Reboot Season III Boxed set on the net.

  • @narukofan2 eg thepiratebay (dot) org

It had pretty good seed:peer ratio

  • @narukofan2 OMFG A REBOOT FAN!!!! I'm trying to find good copies of every episode ever made, I have some REALLY shitty DVD copies, so far to get anything good will cost me thousands for all of them but I will have it one day!!!

  • @DystruktoBoi1 awesome. Back in 2007 when I went to Toronto for the 2007 Toronto, Ontario, Canada Fan Expo Fan Expo I actually met the creator of Reboot. The creators name is Gavin Blair and he was a really nice guy. The artist for Reboot was there as well his name is Jim Su and he was also a really nice guy as well.

  • @narukofan2 This is also what I imagine Lingua Technis would sound like from Warhammer 40k.

  • ok, im not gonna lie. when i was little, i actually tried to DANCE to this

  • @invertigo9867

    Haha, thats epic.

  • 56k? are talking about this Ethernet plug on my Asus?

  • @DarkBabyIon 56k Ethernet, hmm... :)

  • I remember when i still had dial up. I always HATED IT.

  • NOOOOOOO!! THIS SOUND NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

  • I remember when I was like 9 I tried plugging my phone up to my Windows 98SE computer and without phone service, it didn't work

  • I always imagined this is how a computer would sound if it were having a seizure.

  • size: 200 kB

    time left: 4 min

  • @guguigugu so wait 830bps lol

nice connections from the old times.

  • @guguigugu Now:

    File size- 200kb

    Time remaining- 0.25seconds

  • O.O

  • Good old days before the war in Iraq started.

  • @Khamomil Weird comparison, but true nonetheless!

  • @Khamomil

Yeah, but the Gulf War had just ended.

  • putting thi as my ringtone RIGHT NOW!!

  • @RisingAtheists Nice, Nice :)

  • If you hear this sound, it means that the internet is dying . . .

  • Yes, even this high end 2008 Vaio has a modem built in.

  • @wisteela Unfortunately, my mid-range 2011 Acer does not, I suppose it's getting less and less relevant as laptops are now coming with built in 3G & "N" WiFi etc.

  • @ThePhoneUpdate Indeed, it's a dying breed.

  • NO DAD NO

  • like, ouch, my ears?

  • THIS USE TO SCARE WHEN I WAS LITTLE

  • @mizorepower Really? The variety of things that scare people is weird! The PS2 "Red screen of death" used to freak me and my mate out!

  • @ThePhoneUpdate only one thing scared me it was when windows had a BSOD while playing a game....man the sound and the image get laggy and BSOD....man...

  • It took me about a year and countless nights of waking up the wife to realise you could turn this noise off in settings.

  • @DaveWBedford Yep, but where's the fun in that? :)

  • The internet seemed so much more futuristic with this sound.=/

  • I still have this burned into my brain in Complete. Perfect. Detail.

  • @SukatoKjolen i still listion to this everyday.

  • I had NyNex way back when lol!!

  • I want to setup my web browser to go through a fake dialup handshake and play this sound.

  • This brings back memories of my early porn picture watching days, before i graduated to porn videos

  • I can't wait to listen to this while I'm on my jogging! :D

  • My new ring tone XP

  • 56 likes for 56k... I love it.

  • hahahaha.. i miss this sound! but not the speed, it took me more than 3 hours just to download a 2.5mb of mp3 file!

  • I need the fucking telephone stop downloading porno pics "not videos" remember that you all .... awww my god, I miss those moments and also those pics now it's boring but I won't cry.. I won't cry

  • Love this sound!

  • I adore this (l)

  • memories from 1998...

  • 0:10 when i had dial up i thought that bit had water in the computer (c'mon i was 6)

  • @greyhoundgill shut up retard

  • @damek666 at least i dont film my hi fi and put it on youtube

  • @greyhoundgill you wouldnt even know how to do that, so thats obvious.

  • memories.. lol

  • wounder why it did so much noise, can someone like explain or just breif me, it would be really appriciated

  • @Rickythemaniac Don't take this as definite, but I believe it was the sound of the "Handshake" and data transfer between your modem and the server. I used to be able to change the volume of it using the windows volume control back when we had dial-up!

  • @ThePhoneUpdate Correct. My uncle has been working for AT&T since the 80s.

  • @MoviesandTVShows2010 Ahh AT&T... We don't have them over here (UK) - But I'm familiar with them.

  • @ThePhoneUpdate He was working for them before they were a cell phone company.

  • @ThePhoneUpdate We didn't on our NetCom 4-5 years ago... It just made a huge splashing sound near the end of the connection time-as if a problem had been encountered

  • @Rickythemaniac Don't trust anyone. watch this to know : /watch?v=FG1AQcGGSec&feature=related

  • Comment removed

  • @wilkes85 so we are past 2500?

  • good memories

  • am making this my ringtone...

  • @RandomDirectors So am I ;)

  • What's ironic:

I'm looking this up on an ancient connection, it's been so long since my connection was this slow, I had to look it up. (currently on vacation... internet connection is god-awful, ~32kb/s.)

It took me roughly 12 minutes to fully buffer this video >.<

  • @FoxRacer30 Damn... that is really slow... Are you in the US by the way?

  • i always wondered why it made that sound

  • the goo-...well, lets just say, the old days..theres at least something to miss of them

  • My new ring tone

  • anyone up for some Doom2 demo deathmatch?

  • "Get off the internet so I can use the phone!" XD

  • @Sn0wAng3l101 ahahaha!! i so remember that!!!

  • @Sn0wAng3l101 @TheOpenMinded12460 It would take forever to get on Youtube with a Dial up connection.

  • @TheOpenminded12460 I really want to try that now :)

  • @ThePhoneUpdate Tried it. If you pause and buffer a 10 minute YouTube video for 2 hours, it should be possible to watch it on dial-up. No good for actual streaming video.

However, you can go to keepvid [dot] com, enter a YouTube URL and download the lowest quality 3GP (176x144) mobile video versions of YouTube videos. (Make sure you have a 3GP-compatible media player on your PC.) It will still take ages on dial-up and be poor quality, but at least some YouTube content can be used over dial-up!

  • @Mequa32 Wow... awesome :)

  • @Sn0wAng3l101 thats what my mum said when i was 6 and i used dial up on win 98 ahh memories

  • wow that was really anoying lol

  • Its nice to know what weve advanced from. even though its annoying i miss it that was kind of a child hood memory for me growing up

  • I like the part where it goes from the long fax-sound beep into the static noise. 0:13 - 0:14

  • I remember always hearing this as a kid with my parents' computers. Memories

  • This really takes me back but I realized I have a laptop which doesn't have a 56K anymore. Nevertheless my older laptop still has it (duh).

  • Sounds like something Hendrix would come up with lol

  • this takes me back

  • i wanna connect my dreamcast to servers that are probbely down just to listen to that

  • @narotu200 Nice to see another Dreamcast owner! I swear I used to have one of the broadband adapters, but god knows where it got to.

  • @ThePhoneUpdate nice to see the dreamcasters still alive i wish i connect with you guys and play some quake

  • @ogsound2 Unfortunately don't have quake... my Dreamcast game selection is.. how shall we put it? "Limited" :)

  • Set windows log-on sound to this mp3, watch parents reaction

  • my favourite part is at :022 when it goes all jittery

  • I love to hear it

  • this is how the internet should be!

  • @anonymousstormchaser @TheOpenMinded12460 It would take forever to get on Youtube.

  • it was a joke, you're the idiot.

  • @anonymousstormchaser

UR THE IDIOT FUK U MOTHER FUCKER

  • DUUUD YORE SOH CRAYZEEE
