@frank6920 It depends somewhat on some factors. Let's take my country, Finland, as an example: you have densely forested terrain where any battle engagements would be short in range. In the 1950's we were thinking about getting assault rifles for our army, and we chose the Soviet 7.62x39mm cartridge instead of the NATO 7.62x51mm (which would work better on long range). 5.56x45 is based on the same principle as 7.62x51, it just kicks back less and has more diminutive terminal effects.
@frank6920 In other words, if shooting distances are short then the accuracy of the 7.62x39mm is adequate, and in its terminal power is excellent compared to its recoil. If you have to shoot further you either have to use a 5.56x45mm rifle or a battle rifle firing 7.62x51 (or 7.62x54R). Or to use a designated sniper rifle. But yeah there are many places where 5.56x45 or 5.45x39 are the best ones to use.
The AK-47 is much more better than M16 or M4. Those american guns aren't very reliable but AK is. And the AK:s low accruracy is because of bad shooter or its sight has beeb adjusted too up. The sight of M16 isn't as good when aiming movin target as AK:s.
When firing on semi-automatic, the accuracy depends on the shooter. Some people do better with the M16 system, and some do better with the AK system. It depends on which one is comfortable for you, and feels right. Both the shooters were trained on the M16 system, obviously he would do worst when testing the AK. This video is propaganda.
I think they both have their strengths and are both a great weapon and feel great in your hands. I have a nice russian AK (Drum mags, bipod, blued metal, and plain old iron sights, est) and a really nice AR (Same stuff as I have on my AK pretty much) that both cost me a pretty penny.
The AK is sheer power, the M-16 is more precision. If you really want to tear shit up, AK is your choice. If you want a clean headshot at 500 yards, M-16 is your choice. I wish sombody would comine the two!
Mexican drug cartels quit using AK47s after being in transRio Grande shootouts with US law enforcement armed with ARs. I suppose fighting somebody who can take you out with head shots at 200-300meters while your shots aren't getting anywhere your enemy is very eye-opening and motivating.
The M16 is a great weapon. It does require daily cleaning, but if kept clean its very reliable. Its a lot more reliable than it is given credit for, just as the AK is more accurate than people think.
What a stupid video and a stupid shooter, I absolutely can get 100/100 shot from AK at 200 meters, not 200 yards, iron sight only. At 100 m ,I can really hit something a bit bigger than 1 Heineken.
Your description shows that you are basing all your knowledge on this video. The guy shooting the ak47 is a horrible shot. There are videos everywhere showing the ak being very accurate at 200+ yards. If I were in a firefight within 300 yards, there is no weapon I would rather have than an AK. People assume that because it's not the most accurate, it must be just horrible and can't hit anything past 75 yds and that's BS. It's a rifle designed to kill a man, and it does kill men.
this video makes the ak47 out to be a shitty rifle...and that dude representing the ak47 (like a bitch i might add) cant shoot 200 yards with iron sights? give me a fuckin break
The M16 is far more accurate than the AK. Hands down, bullet for bullet, your hit percentage will be higher with an M16. However, the AK is much more accurate than it is given credit for.
Keep in mind: Most people that use the AK are not trained. They use bad ammo and beat up rifles. You can get decent hits with the AK with a little training. Its accurate enough to be respected on the battlefield.
@mcleanm10 It's only most. In Vietnam, my country, a college or even 1 high school good-eye-student can get 27/30 or 28 points after 3 shots of AK, at the first time shooting in their lives. My aunt got 28 in the first test.
Half of well-trained soldiers in a company can get 28/30, they all use Chinese-made of old Russian made guns after Vietnam War, which can't keep the accuracy as high as the above AK in the clip, fucking retarded video.
@thermonuclearweapon1 The AK is not a match grade rifle. Its a good rifle for shooting at man sized targets at 200 yards. The M16 can drive tacks. It's very accurate.
The AK is easier to train on, cheaper, and more rugged. Shooting in combat is different than shooting unstressed. MOST of the folks that the United States is fighting today are not as highly trained with weapons as the American Infantryman. This is evident in the kill percentage.
I like to the prema donna m-16 with all that crap lasers , flash light, gps , heart monitor, laptop, built-in crap. The m-16 is made in the good ole USA and out of all the things we can make this is the shit that are government comes up with crap gun... crap ammo 223...
You bastard, you're just another over confident fag about his own country. Bullshit. Maybe if you would stop stealing discovery channels videos, and go to Russia and see for your self, you wouldent be such a prick like you are now. If you people were not fucking kids who cant handle the recoil of the AK-47, your army would all be using AK's. Well, you're just kids arent you, bunch of motherfuckers who cant respect other weapons.
The M-16 SUCKS. Even american soldiers during vietnam hated the M-16, it jammed and got many soldiers killed in action wich is why during the vietnam war soldiers would toss the M-16 and pick up enemy AK-47's to use in combat (R.I.P. America's sons, brothers, husbans, and fathers) the M-16 should have never been used for battle.
WHO THE FUCK WOULD EVER THINK THE M-16 WAS BETTER THAN THE AK-47?!?!? AK-47: 1. Extremely reliable and rugged 2. Extremely powerful 3. Easy to field strip and clean 4. High rate of fire 5. Keeps cool on full auto M-16: 1. Unreliable and complicated 2. Ammo suited for small animals 3. Breaks, jams, and is hard to feild strip and clean 4. Peep sights suck in low light 5. Overheats to extreme tempuratures on full auto
@MrGoryGlory A lot of folks prefer the M16. It's a lighter weapon. You can carry more ammo. It's more accurate. The M16 is VERY reliable. It is not hard to strip and keep clean.
holy shit the guy with the ak is a terrible shot ,and he had the rifle rested on a bag?! and still couldnt hit shit? idk anymore people will believe anything these days ..check out 200 yard ak 47 iron sights by millerusaf , =P
@newyears912 look i do own both and at 200 yards i can dam sure do better than what the guy got on this target in the video. Ya we all know that the ak is not that accurate but at 200 u can still hit something. that is all im saying.
If the m16 is "better", then why are more amreicans dying from ak47's then middle east of m16 rounds? (P,S. - i support my country.. but the ak is actually more accurate, its been tested before, it doesnt ever jam, and still shoots nomatter what. The m16 overheats to 800 degrees in under 8 seconds of shooting and has to be shot in bursts so it doesnt jam. The m16 is cool, but unreliable. If i were to go to a neighboring planet, i would bring an ak over a m16 anyday.
@BJCOOPER125 why are more americans dying from aks? because thats all the fucking sand terrorists can afford. Dont you think that if the ak was more effective the US military would use it? After all it IS CHEAPER than an m16, and being as greedy as us americans are wouldnt we not jump at such a deal if it were true? OF COURSE!
umm more accurate? gtfo it was just tested in front of you in this video
@BJCOOPER125 why are more americans dying from aks? because thats all the fucking sand terrorists can afford. Dont you think that if the ak was more effective the US military would use it? i like both rifles. the ar. if you want to clean it more often than shoot it then its great. but i stand with the everlasting ak. it's high reliability with minimal or no maintenance. and its not that bad of a shooter. maybe not a tack driver but i have no problem hitting center mass. plus its still made with that old thing called steel and wood. if all else fails club your enemy to death and the rifle will still function.
This is not a competition at all, the M16 is much better.Situation 1: you are alone in the middle of the desert. You have 100 rounds. You can see any moving object 500M away. Are you really going to choose the AK47 with low accuracy at 500M? Sit. 2: Your getting attacked from all sides. enemy are in-between your pals. Are you going to trust that bending, burping, hunk of metal (AK47) to shoot the bad guy, when your pals are 100M away and the enemy is 5M from you best pal? Accuracy is everything!
@Ramissand You are literally the ONLY sane person when it comes to this ak vs m16 debate. The fucks the point of the rifle if you cant HIT ANYTHING WITH IT?
m16 is a pece of plastik that can't be anything deadly ander 10 degrise, it just piese of junk
ak47 might have big recoil, but it is for sure 1shot one kill, the caliber is not pussy, it is really like death weapond never fails under any conditions never gives shit when wasn't looked after for ages.
P.S. AK-47 gives mushroom cloud when fired.
scope on ak-47 might be a bit hard to aim but pro's can aim with it acuratly in any distanse.
Dont foget it american video they all hate Russians.
@kangooroo100 5.45 round and 5.56 round the first being Russian the second being NATO does more damage to flesh noob. Only 3rd world nations run around with AK-47's. The Russians ditched it as their standard rifle back in 1974.
Not hitting that target @ 200 yards is a joke ! I've shot these targets (& smaller) @ 300 yards with my AK & achieved good hit rates, comparable to an AR.
AK wins hands down. Try testing M16A4 against AK-103 or AK-74M and I'm not saying some crappy copy of AK-47. Use Russian. AK's that are/were imported are inferrior. AK they were testing is prolly from Bulgaria/Romania or China.
@BritneyAddicted4EVA There is no absolutely nothing wrong with Bulgarian or Chinese copies from owning a few myself. The rifle in the video is most likely Russian.
Anyway. It`s a matter of training. Most armies equipped with the AK spray and pray while armies equipped with the M16 family take aimed shots. There`s a reason the losses on both sides are so uneven. They were built for different purposes and while each is superior in their respective ways, it all comes down to application.
the ak isnt actually inaccurate compared to the m16 , several other tests have shown it to be about the same but with more power obviously . The thing the makes the ak inaccurate is the fact that the sight is to far away from the eye making the lining more difficult , but in the right hands you can hit the target 99.99% of the time
@goonballer This is half true. Semi Auto, the AK is fine but it loses range faster than the M16 and in full auto it`s not nearly as good at long range. The M16 is very reliable as long as you maintain it properly like any other rifle. As I said before, both represent different mentalities in battle and for what they were built for neither one has an edge.
@goonballer yep thats what i tell ppl all the time. Since i only have a semi ak which i prefer anyways i 99% of the time hit all my targets usally being claybirds in a stationary position or water jugs scattered around and thats about 50 60 yards. anything farther i use paper targets and do pretty good. ive hit a clay bird in 3 shots from the 250 yard range. id argue with anybody saying its not accurate. spray and pray is unaccurate.
Was more like a propaganda piece for the AR with a bunch of AR specialists running it.
They showed a closeup of the guy shooting the AK's trigger technique. He was mashing the trigger instead of pressing. He probably would've missed the target with the AR shooting like that. Should've had the same guy shoot both guns.
Yes might as well go for them hollow points then if you want internal damage. The AK47 is a combat rifle, meant to penetrate cover and body armor. The M16 would not be sufficient when in combat with a trained and equipped enemy.
@RedPower012 what are you talking about both guns work great in battle and a hollow point ak round is not going to penetrate good military body armor it would prematurely expand. Plus hollow points are illegal in war.
This is not a real test, a scientist would not compare one of each. They would use more AR and shooter for a study. I bet this is just patriotic propaganda.
@Markio123123 For god sake!!! If I play call of duty series doesn't mean I'm a cod boy, I don't base my weapon knowledge for some god damn game. But seriously, M16 is famous for it's unreliability due some dust, unlike AK-47 which is famous for it's reliability.
@goldbullet50 The Ak-47 jams so much bud, The ak is known for its popularity because its everywhere and very easy to obtain, The M16 is a far greater design. But still, to compare these guns is like comparing apples with oranges, The M16 is more of a long range rifle and the AK-47 is more of the smg/rifle type (judging by rate of fire)
@Markio123123 Even the early models worked well. I don't really understand where you got the idea that AK jams. And unless you have fired an AK, I don't think you have any knowledge on the subject. Technically, the US military does use AK's. Mostly special operations forces. They aren't regular issue for the common soldier.
@esh325 im pretty sure AK 47s are not in the military especially with special ops missions, i can see it if they are in disguise but not the main weapon.
the ak is definitely a good jungle gun, but for urban environments, i think the m16 would be better. a semi-auto 7.62x51 sniper rifle would be a good choice if you think you might need to take some long range shots.
The Ak can be modified to be more accurate and then it still is more powerful. plus its the most mass produced rifle so u can infinitely upgrade it, and it is less expensive.
Im just saying its FAR more prolific, so naturally the gun will have upgrades made for it that arent expensive. My other point was the AK can be modified in some way to make it almost as accurate as the m-16. besides, in most situations ur not 250 yards away all propped up. your most likely to be a little on edge. In which case I want the one that goes through a tree, and will NEVER jam. The m-16 is a great rifle, no doubt. i own an AK and an M16. I just like the AK better.
Not to mention the AR-15/M16 SS109 ammunition outside of about 200 yards basically turns the bullet into an ice pick rather than shattering thats with a 1'7 twist,20 inch barrel
the AK47 rules it never stop firing the m16 suck and the ak47 is more powerful the m16 firers a 22cal bullet the ak fires a 7.62cal bullet m16 gust not as good as the ak47
m16 fires a 5.62.... AK 47 is very unreliable, m16 is a ton better? I have shot both in real life, my uncle owns a gun shop... no need to say anymore really. The AKs recoil doesn't allow you to effectively shoot it in automatic mode
5.56 suck it has no stopping power i have also shot both an the ak47 will all was be my fav and the m16 takes to long to clean the ak47 is so easy to clean a 4 year old kid can do it the m16 is gust not as good
Dude... Honestly, cleaning a gun doesn't mater when you are comparing gun strength honestly... Kids get stupider everyday... m16 makes up for having a weak round with its extreme accuracy...
AK 47 Jams all the time, it is only good on Call Of Duty because so idiot game designer made it...
Finland, highly illegal here also, unless you're in the military... =)
Not a knock off, an entirely new weapon with superior craftsmanship and materials. Along with the Galil, the best AK variant, and one of the best rifles in the World. Mechanically the same as an AK, though.
You can own a fully auto AK if you have a class 3 FFL license. I believe you have to get it registered, but not quite sure. So, you are wrong, you can own a full auto AK, or most any other full auto gun for that matter.
The caliber refers to the width of the bullet. Sometime they do go by the bore of the gun. 38 special BULLETS are the same caliber as 357 magnum BULLETS, for example....
223 puts about the same size hole into soft targets as .22WMR (basically the same .22lr bullet with a bigger case and extra powder).
Ummm.. Besides The fact I own a Remington .223, and a Browning .22LR, Both semi automatics..
I have shot at alot of things with both, wood, ballistics gel, bear, squirrels, rabbits, old empty 55 gal drums, shot a morning dove with a .223(no dove left after), i have shot tons of stuff.
A .223 will bring down a White Tail Buck, Black Bear, and anything smaller, once you kill a Black Bear with a .22 I'll believe that they make a similar hole...
you need to buy a new barrel if you plan on that too... and the point of the show is to show the rifles w.o any modifications or accessories what so ever, how they would be used in war.
No you do not need a new barrel, there are PLENTY of gun smiths who can solve that problem easily no new barrel needed. Also the M16 the guy fires has a muzzle brake on the end which is not a fair assessment of the two.
@jscameo I agree completely. Take a look at how the chap with the AK-47 pulls the trigger at 3:36. He slaps the trigger hard; which is usually the first thing that instructors tell you NOT to do when firing your rifle. The accuracy shown on those paper targets is just pathetic for the AK, which leads me to believe that the rifling is in poor shape... I mean really, the thing is a rifled firearm. Semi-automatic should lend at least decent accuracy.
Of cource americans say that the M16 is better because it's american.

If you have to shoot further you either have to use a 5.56x45mm rifle or a battle rifle firing 7.62x51 (or 7.62x54R). Or to use a designated sniper rifle. But yeah there are many places where 5.56x45 or 5.45x39 are the best ones to use.
moptim 1 month ago
@YouJustL0stTheGame And then you would be shot with bursts, and probably one of those rounds would penetrate right through your cover and hit you. :P
moptim 1 month ago
@YouJustL0stTheGame The 7.62 does no such thing. It may drop like a rock at distance, but it is stable and does not tumble.

The AK-47 is much more better than M16 or M4. Those american guns aren't very reliable but AK is. And the AK:s low accruracy is because of bad shooter or its sight has beeb adjusted too up. The sight of M16 isn't as good when aiming movin target as AK:s.
VSzx1 2 weeks ago
And that what they said about AK in the beginning (about it's barrel) is bullshit! It can't do enything like it!
VSzx1 2 weeks ago
When firing on semi-automatic, the accuracy depends on the shooter. Some people do better with the M16 system, and some do better with the AK system. It depends on which one is comfortable for you, and feels right. Both the shooters were trained on the M16 system, obviously he would do worst when testing the AK. This video is propaganda.
Sun6Tzu 3 months ago
Rather have the M16. Lighter, more accurate at longer distances, and you have the greater capacity to kill the target instead of wounding it.
Timberwolf7585 4 months ago

I suppose fighting somebody who can take you out with head shots at 200-300meters while your shots aren't getting anywhere your enemy is very eye-opening and motivating.
oeyesea 4 months ago
The M16 is a great weapon. It does require daily cleaning, but if kept clean its very reliable. Its a lot more reliable than it is given credit for, just as the AK is more accurate than people think.
flatpicker10 5 months ago
What a stupid video and a stupid shooter, I absolutely can get 100/100 shot from AK at 200 meters, not 200 yards, iron sight only. At 100 m ,I can really hit something a bit bigger than 1 Heineken.

TheHigherVoltage 6 months ago
Your description shows that you are basing all your knowledge on this video. The guy shooting the ak47 is a horrible shot. There are videos everywhere showing the ak being very accurate at 200+ yards. If I were in a firefight within 300 yards, there is no weapon I would rather have than an AK. People assume that because it's not the most accurate, it must be just horrible and can't hit anything past 75 yds and that's BS. It's a rifle designed to kill a man, and it does kill men.

Its accurate enough to be respected on the battlefield.
mcleanm10 7 months ago
@mcleanm10 It's only most. In Vietnam, my country, a college or even 1 high school good-eye-student can get 27/30 or 28 points after 3 shots of AK, at the first time shooting in their lives. My aunt got 28 in the first test.
Half of well-trained soldiers in a company can get 28/30, they all use Chinese-made of old Russian made guns after Vietnam War, which can't keep the accuracy as high as the above AK in the clip, fucking retarded video.
thermonuclearweapon1 5 months ago
@thermonuclearweapon1 The AK is not a match grade rifle. Its a good rifle for shooting at man sized targets at 200 yards. The M16 can drive tacks. It's very accurate.
The AK is easier to train on, cheaper, and more rugged. Shooting in combat is different than shooting unstressed. MOST of the folks that the United States is fighting today are not as highly trained with weapons as the American Infantryman. This is evident in the kill percentage.

AK 47: A weapon of power and harsh environment reliability.
M16: A weapon of accuracy and low recoil. Lighter ammunition. (modern variants are better to combat elements)
approximately 10 kilogram ammo load:

7.62×39mm.,30 rd magazine @ .8763 kg - 12 magazines/360 rds.

If i were to go to a neighboring planet, i would bring an ak over a m16 anyday.

i like both rifles. the ar. if you want to clean it more often than shoot it then its great. but i stand with the everlasting ak. it's high reliability with minimal or no maintenance. and its not that bad of a shooter. maybe not a tack driver but i have no problem hitting center mass. plus its still made with that old thing called steel and wood. if all else fails club your enemy to death and the rifle will still function.

Accuracy is everything!

dillshark 1 year ago
and I just lost the game...fuck
Anyway. It`s a matter of training. Most armies equipped with the AK spray and pray while armies equipped with the M16 family take aimed shots. There`s a reason the losses on both sides are so uneven. They were built for different purposes and while each is superior in their respective ways, it all comes down to application.
scallywag86 1 year ago
did you see the way that guy pulled the trigger on the ak? He yanked it like a lanyard on a 105. Obviously the fellow is not a rifleman.
BeautyCents 1 year ago 2
the ak isnt actually inaccurate compared to the m16 , several other tests have shown it to be about the same but with more power obviously . The thing the makes the ak inaccurate is the fact that the sight is to far away from the eye making the lining more difficult , but in the right hands you can hit the target 99.99% of the time
goonballer 1 year ago
@goonballer This is half true. Semi Auto, the AK is fine but it loses range faster than the M16 and in full auto it`s not nearly as good at long range. The M16 is very reliable as long as you maintain it properly like any other rifle. As I said before, both represent different mentalities in battle and for what they were built for neither one has an edge.
scallywag86 1 year ago

WoWproductions21 2 years ago
Yes might as well go for them hollow points then if you want internal damage. The AK47 is a combat rifle, meant to penetrate cover and body armor. The M16 would not be sufficient when in combat with a trained and equipped enemy.
RedPower012 2 years ago
@RedPower012 what are you talking about both guns work great in battle and a hollow point ak round is not going to penetrate good military body armor it would prematurely expand. Plus hollow points are illegal in war.

goldbullet50 10 months ago
@goldbullet50 The Ak-47 jams so much bud, The ak is known for its popularity because its everywhere and very easy to obtain, The M16 is a far greater design. But still, to compare these guns is like comparing apples with oranges, The M16 is more of a long range rifle and the AK-47 is more of the smg/rifle type (judging by rate of fire)
Markio123123 10 months ago

@Markio123123 Even the early models worked well. I don't really understand where you got the idea that AK jams. And unless you have fired an AK, I don't think you have any knowledge on the subject. The Ak can be modified to be more accurate and then it still is more powerful. plus its the most mass produced rifle so u can infinitely upgrade it, and it is less expensive.
Elricc1 2 years ago
How??
If you are going to compare the AK with an attachment, add the same thing onto the m-16
You can't make the bullets any weaker,
you can't take away recoil effectively
They don't make rifles so you can upgrade them when they cost $46.73 USD to make...
powderkillr 2 years ago
Im just saying its FAR more prolific, so naturally the gun will have upgrades made for it that arent expensive. My other point was the AK can be modified in some way to make it almost as accurate as the m-16. besides, in most situations ur not 250 yards away all propped up. your most likely to be a little on edge. In which case I want the one that goes through a tree, and will NEVER jam. The m-16 is a great rifle, no doubt. i own an AK and an M16. I just like the AK better.
Elricc1 2 years ago
Not to mention the AR-15/M16 SS109 ammunition outside of about 200 yards basically turns the bullet into an ice pick rather than shattering thats with a 1'7 twist,20 inch barrel

You were arguing with the guy who said the m16 fires a 22 cal bullet by saying "M16 fires a 5.62...".
.223 is pretty close to .22....
OutdoorsBlackMan 2 years ago
Alright ya little bitch..
That number measures the inside of the Barrel...
A .223 BULLET weighs 62 Grams flys at 3,100 fps, at 1,767 foot pounds of energy.
An average .22 BULLET that weighs 40 grains flys at 1,080 fps, with 104 foot pounds of energy
Now you tell me those two BULLETS preform the same..
Bullet size means nothing look at the ballistics..
powderkillr 2 years ago
The caliber refers to the width of the bullet. Sometime they do go by the bore of the gun. 38 special BULLETS are the same caliber as 357 magnum BULLETS, for example....
223 puts about the same size hole into soft targets as .22WMR (basically the same .22lr bullet with a bigger case and extra powder).
OutdoorsBlackMan 2 years ago
You are talking to me like I have no idea about bullets...
Caliber is Measured from the width of barrel THAT is why a 223 DOESNT put the same hole in a target as a .22
A 223 compresses as most rifles do going out the barrel Which is why it is so much bigger than a .22
You could do the same thing with a little .22 but there isn't enough force to compress the bullet, which is why they are so small
A .223 is going to fuck you up, while a .22 earns you a nice scar and a trip to the hospital
powderkillr 2 years ago
What kind of in field testing have you done?
OutdoorsBlackMan 2 years ago
A .223 will bring down a White Tail Buck, Black Bear, and anything smaller, once you kill a Black Bear with a .22 I'll believe that they make a similar hole...
powderkillr 2 years ago
I wouldn't bother buying anything smaller than 30 cal for big game hunting. My sweet spot is 308.
Anything close to .22 is a rabbit getter, but I would rather use a pellet gun because the ammo is cheaper and quieter.
