ahhh the good ole days. had a 73 many years ago. owned from 1982 till around 1995. was pumping 146hp but couldnt get the traction with the rear wheel limitations. was actually the 1st bike i ever dropped. 1st time was when i did a hole shot and lost it, 2nd was about a year later when i hit some sand in the street while braking (still have the scare from that one). yours is beautiful compared to mine. enjoy it.
this brings back memories running my H2 at Fremont and at Sears Point. Had J&R Chambers and allot of port and polish. Spent allot of time picking Denco's brains when they were in Fremont. I had to use their roller clutch pusher with bearing; I'd keep cooking the stock one's. I let my friend ride and he came back shaking and all white; never got on it again LoL.. He told me I was crazy. I also punched out and used the big bore kit to 803cc..

This is awesome. I remember the Kaw'y 500's were just beasts and then the 750 appeared, holy shit. I saw a 750 Kaw'y dirt sidecar with expansion chambers at Hope Town grandprix in the mid 70's and it just destroyed any competition there. It blasted through the infamous mud pit like it wasn't even there. The sound of these bikes come straight from hell.
Your machine is meticulously prepared and maintained...and you have mastered the combination . Well done. The video is flat out great....and deserves all the hits.
Looks like old Thompson has been rehabbed and is also still serviceable. It is one of the few tracks I did not run an event!

good friend of mine put together a H2 together,had some parts from different companies and paul gast,he was around 200 lbs and it went 9.94 at 135,really nice bike,the sound of that 2 stroke on the top end was amazing,sounded like a turbine.

The Biggest Super Eliminator race in the history books will be taking place in September during the weekend of the 25 &26th. This event will be held at US131 raceway in Martin Michigan. There should be around 25 H2 750 dragbikes present! Please come out and see the Grape Ape in action! I will look foreward to seeing everyone!
@smokinjoeh2750 Damn man not bad but i have a arctic at 1000cc factory two stroke that makes 182 hp stock. With my mods it makes around 195hp. Throw one of those in. And it's in a snowmobile.

9.99 @ 127.6mph with 34mm Mikuni round slides, 1980s vintage Gast chambers, billet heads, H1 clutch with extra plates, and very mild port work with no modification to the transfers.
a lot of the parts we use are either custom made or aftermarket such as slider clutches and connecting rods the only stock parts on my H2 engine are the cylinders and cases and the cylinders can be resleeved .
Also: These engines honestly burn oil bit by bit, and yes, here is a pollution but then - finish. But: What the heck is really happening to the waist oil of the "clean" 4 strokers once you drained it??? If only a part of what I heard is true, I lmao. I heard they burn a greater part of it in big crude oil burning marine diesel engines!!! Question: Pollution??? BTW a very big number of these big crude oil burners are 2 stroke engines!!!! Hahaha
@TeppoOni if that was true then they would pass emissions...we dont have 2 strokes anymore because they cant get through emissions...marine engines are exempt from the same standards we use for the street

Hello, it has 34mm Mikuni round slides, 1980s vintage FBG chambers, H1 500 clutch with extra plates, billet heads, 3mm up on EX port and 1mm widened on each side, IN port is 1mm widened each side, Intake skirt is cut 3mm. I have not ridden it on the street much, but I am planning on it this summer! Her name is "The Grape Ape". This name was given to it back in the early 1980s when the track announcer at Thompson started announcing it as such, the name has been charished since then!!!

I bought an H2 back in '77 as a basket case.
Guy just had a $300 paint job on the bike and never put it back together.
I bought it for $350.
Spent about $300 at the Kawa dealer.....found some chambers and if I remember right 30mm carbs.
Rebuilt the top end.
Man what a rocket ship it was...one heck of a street bike.
Everyone that rode it came back with a HUGE grin.
I sold it after one year!

Great show. This was the only machine that had a chance against my ride in the late 70s. It was a tough launch running the street without the bars though.

9.99 @ 127.6mph with 34mm Mikuni round slides, 1980s vintage Gast chambers, billet heads, H1 clutch with extra plates, and very mild port work with no modification to the transfers.

a lot of the parts we use are either custom made or aftermarket such as slider clutches and connecting rods the only stock parts on my H2 engine are the cylinders and cases and the cylinders can be resleeved .

Also: These engines honestly burn oil bit by bit, and yes, here is a pollution but then - finish. But: What the heck is really happening to the waist oil of the "clean" 4 strokers once you drained it??? If only a part of what I heard is true, I lmao. I heard they burn a greater part of it in big crude oil burning marine diesel engines!!! Question: Pollution??? BTW a very big number of these big crude oil burners are 2 stroke engines!!!! Hahaha

@TeppoOni if that was true then they would pass emissions...we dont have 2 strokes anymore because they cant get through emissions...marine engines are exempt from the same standards we use for the street

Hello, it has 34mm Mikuni round slides, 1980s vintage FBG chambers, H1 500 clutch with extra plates, billet heads, 3mm up on EX port and 1mm widened on each side, IN port is 1mm widened each side, Intake skirt is cut 3mm. I have not ridden it on the street much, but I am planning on it this summer! Her name is "The Grape Ape". This name was given to it back in the early 1980s when the track announcer at Thompson started announcing it as such, the name has been charished since then!!!

Very, VERY nice. Great style on the strip, fantastic to see an H2 used rather than polished and put in a glass cabinet and great use of music, a rarity on Youtube imho. Top marks, hope you continue to enjoy these great old strokers. Regards.
