you know he has a 20, 60, or 1st 80gb. thats the only way youll get a mem card reader. This is for stock ps3s if you want open your ps3 (voiding the warranty, and install a mem card reader yourself)

you can get them but I dont know where, also normal PS3 lasers are designed not to be able to read them, they are called "grade C" lasers. So if u want to use burned games then you might want to upgrade to a "grade A" laser. I'm not saying that normal lasers dont read burned games because I'm not sure so you might want to try the disk before spending money on a new laser.

lol after the horrible 2.40 firmware update my PS3 didnt read disks not even DVD's so i phoned up sony and i asked them if they could give me a new one but put my old hardrive into the new one they gave me a new one and they put my old hardrive into the new one so i got all my game saves back, thats what you call customer service

No, the don't but you can mod the PS3 and intall the slots yourself. We did this for my friends PS3 but I won't do it to mine. It takes some work and it can be a pain in the ass and, overall, not really worth it because you can always us a jump drive to transfer game data from one PS3 to another. The slot reader is really only good if you can play PS2 games on your system and if you can then your PS3 would already have the memory slots.
