  • This is my favorite Kwan long program. Did she ever skate it cleanly?

  • @CapNRachs No. This is the cleanest performance of this program she did the entire season. And it placed her 1st in the long program at World's that season, giving her the silver medal overall.

  • This performance is incredible and funny enough one of her most underrated. I've generally loved all her programs from 1996-2005, however a few stick out in my mind as having been really wonderful but not as talked about, Taj Majal and Arianne for example.

  • Thanks for posting ...wonderful

  • Thanks for posting! In my opinion this long program had the best choreography of any that Michelle performed in her entire career! I especially love the way her spiral flows into her layback spin. I always thought that, if she had been able to land that second Lutz jump she would have won this competition. This program was driven by the choreography, which took so much of her energy she was too tired to do the Lutz. After this season it seemed like the jumps were the top priority.

  • I agree Salome was great and started the ball rolling but Taj Mahal was my favorite and really the best work ever she started to lose the theatrics in her choreography after this I thought 1998's Long Program was 3 steps down from this one and from Salome and then in 1999 she kind of came with a theme but after that forget it!

  • This was a wonderfully choreographed Long Program, and Michelle did win this portion of the competition. Second lutz made no difference. Under 6.0, she needed for someone else to also beat Tara in order to win, but nobody did.

I can't agree that this was the last choreographically driven program. 1998 through, 2002 were all beautiful and difficult. After 2002, it was more about jumps and finding the heart of the music and expressing it with more emotion and less choreography.

  • well she did win the LP.. so the second triple lutz would not have changed sth..

But i do agree with you, this programm had the best chorepgraphy of Miichelles'.

  • @danjohnrob64 Actually, Michelle won the long program. It's just that she was in 4th place after the short program and Tara was in 1st. Michelle needed someone else to beat Tara in the long to win the title overall. If she had landed the 2nd triple lutz, it would have made no difference in the standings.

  • This is, by far, my absolute favorite program Michelle ever did. Just the moves in the field sequence she did after her opening triple lutz combination was divine!

This program had it all. Good spins, exceptional choreography, good speed, difficult jumps, and exceptionally well choreography executed to near perfection. I can watch this particular performance over and over again and just get lost in it. Even with a doubled lutz this is my absolute favorite performance of hers... EVER!

  • do you have the music michelle kwan skated in her long program of 1996 Salome??

  • i wish that she would have won an olypic gold medal in her career she really deserved it!

  • This is awesome, thank you for making it.

The choreography of this program is excellent, and utilizes the nuances in the music and ice surface soo well.

  • i have this on tape with all the comments, so it nice to just hear the music.

since 1997- this has been my favorite figure skating music and I have been listening to the tape just to hear the music, so its nice to hear a recording of just the m usic with no commernaries, thanks for doing this.

did u get the music off the net or do have the cd?

  • I really enjoy this music and I love Michelle's choreography.

  • THE MUSIC IS AMAZING!! Does anyone know the name of it? plz!
