  • the only communist places in the world are twin oaks and Cuba? heard of China? Moldova? North Korea? Not to mention the hundreds of Kibutzim in Israel

  • look democracy cant work communism cant work a healthy mix of both WILL work

  • i completely agree. just look at eastern europe in the 80s at how happy communism makes people.

  • Communism can only work in a small population. The population like U.S cannot work with communism because someone would want to be richer than others, or more wealth/power. Within a small group, there is limited amount of people who would control the community.

  • There are no misconceptions, Communism is Horrible, and Socialism is Horrible. This is Communist propaganda, and RT forgets that Communist government come into being by killing people that worked and paid for their property and lives.

  • @CRISHOOKER2010

Well I disagree about Socialism. Eventually we will have to leave capitalism.

"The day will come when our Republic will be an impossibility because wealth will be concentrated in the hands of a few. When that day comes, we must rely upon the wisdom of the best elements in the country to readjust the laws of the nation." - James Madison

I feel this is coming if not already happening but hopefully an even better one than all of them will arise.

  • Americans can't communism. That's a matter of fact.

  • Even in the military, we got generic food, clothing, and room, but still get paid over $1000 a month. What a scam?

Want to know where capitalists make the most money and exploit workers...Twin Oaks Virginia

    ;)

  • Making thousands of dollars by exploiting idiots...I don't think this is communism. This is the most horrible side of capitalism IMO.

    Twin Oaks commune, Virginia

    Population : 90

Work hours of every person : 42 hours a week making hammocks and tofu.

Hammock price on internet :$120 -$199

Tofu price : Unknown, sold to local restaurants

    Pay : $72 a month

Benefits : Room in hostel, generic cloths and food, use of the 17 vehicles shared between 90 people.

I should start one of these companies

  • Definition of Irony:

A supposed Communist community selling hammocks on their main website...LOL!

    Oceanside Glen Tuff Quilted Hammock

    Market price: $185.00

    Our price: $159.99

Even their events and meetings cost money...LOL!

    Friday August 19 through

    Sunday August 21, 2011

$85 (sliding scale) includes camping space and most meals.

I guess if you call something communist, but you continue to charge for the simplest of things, it may work, but it is probably more capitalistic than US currently.

  • anyone have a phone number or email for them? I wouldn't mind spending at least a month there before my semesters for college start?

  • That flag will hang over Wall Street very soon!

  • And the Capitalists call Communists lumpent and lazy when Communism is all about working.

  • Priya's hawtness.

  • These people are anarchists who live together - that is clearly different from a totalitarian regime. Why don't these people just drop the term communism and admit they are secular Amish folk.

  • you could not be more wrong, communism has killed more people over freedom of speech than die in our free society here in the U.S. loaded with atheist and thought police that even this commune must have in order to sustain it's self, and yet without capitalism they would not have the standard of living they do like most of the world . you can not talk about the dark side of communism but it will still rear its ugly face it is the nature of the beast and selling out personal freedom does not work

  • @genadamscsa except this system are people who volunteered to live this way. What you're speaking of is government taking over and abusing it.

  • @kmelfina and as i said they still could not keep a good standard of living without capitalism, it has done more to improve living standards than any other way, ignore the facts all you want but it will not change a thing , they are trying to glamorize communism and it has never worked because man is not going to just ignore our individualism and there for it will take force to make communism work, force equals totalitarianism and even they say they must excommunicate them.

  • @kmelfina and choosing to live this way could only happen in a free society where you can choose to live any way you want in the pursuit of your own happiness and it will never convince people without force to join and stay there.

  • I am embarrassed that this chinc is spewing socialism "news" like it's some horoscope being read out loud for amusement. This isn't some joke, you idiots. And RT isn't real news. It's a big fat joke run by kids. I'm sick of this shit before they even start. Every time I click on a video and these "RT" kids pop up, I realize the country is really screwed. They have NO idea what they're spewing, but it sure smells like vomit to me.

  • Communism is an extension of the feudal system though, as can be seen throughout the world. The state/kingdom owns everything, including the people and their labor. Elites choose how best to use these resources. Elites receive special treatment and services, as seen throughout the world.

Freedom and liberty are the apex of a truly great system.

That is why Communism can exist in a Libertarian society, but Libertarianism cannot exist in a Communist society.

  • @brendanmcwilliams

No, in Communism there is no state. Communism comes at the final stage of Socialism. Socialism advances in stages over years, Socialism is where the economy is state owned, during this time civil problems are solved and people are taught to work hard to make way for Communism in a truly stateless society.

  • @UnitedCommunists

Yes. And those that the mental conditioning doesn't work on are killed off, like with Stalin, Mao, and every other Communist "experiment" to date.

Typically, the high IQ people are killed, as in Russia and China. Teachers, intellects, social activists, and anyone who sees the underlying problem with only allowing people to have basic necessities.

Food, Shelter, Medical care. Exactly what a slave, prisoner, and serf get. Anything else desired is greed.

  • @UnitedCommunists

Some of us dream of having a nice house, a nice car, or other possessions. These people are typically of high IQ, and can not settle for the lifestyle of a slave or convict.

Socialist and Communist systems have killed off many of the smartest people alive. Others have fled before being killed. The good news is, the rest of the world benefits from defections. Einstein, Freud, Gellner, Petrov, Korchnoi, Jarecki, Alliluyeva, (Stalin's daughter), etc

  • @brendanmcwilliams Einstein and Freud fled from a communist country??? Are you dreaming that up or are you making the communists and nazis the same? Or are you just those T-partiers who have decided to tie their eyes and cover their ears and shout whatever comes in your mind randomly?

  • @KOGR11

Me : "Socialist and Communist systems have killed off many of the smartest people alive."

KOGR11 : Einstein and Freud fled from a communist country?

Wikipedia : Nazism, the common short form name of National Socialism (German: Nationalsozialismus)

There you go. You learn something new everyday.

    ;)

  • @brendanmcwilliams I bet you think Miami University is in Florida!

  • @scottandrewhutchins

    What a strange non sequitur.

Unless you thought Virginia (where this commune is said to be in the video) is part of Florida, or Miami University is where one of the residents claimed to be educated.

Otherwise, you put Homer Simpson to shame in your obscure and unrelated reference.

I can only assume you are proud that you figured out the contrary and want everyone to know. Not typical of people with above 100 IQs.

  • @brendanmcwilliams It's not a non-sequitur. It has to do with your inane comment that because the Nazis called themselves "National Socialists," that means that they were communists. And Miami University is not in Florida.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

LOL! If it was supposed to be an analogy, it wasn't one made by a high IQ individual.

The fact that you don't know what "contrary" means and had to clarify that it isn't in Florida kind of proves this.

Also, the fact that you state that "you probably believe Miami University is in Florida", and have to point out in the next comment that it isn't really isn't helping your IQ argument.

    ;)

  • @brendanmcwilliams I know what contrary means; I was condescending to you.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

On the plus side, if a job interviewer asks that question, it's in the bag. You seem to have spent so much time on this thought and are so proud to prove it, I'm sure they will hire you on the spot.

    ;)

  • @brendanmcwilliams The problem is that no matter what credentials I show, no one wants to interview me. Two degrees, three Adobe certifications, and I mostly get people asking me for money or cattle calls for face-to-face marketing people that don't want me because I am an obvious introvert.

  • @UnitedCommunists

The only way communism can work without a holocaust, as seen in every communist country and some socialist ones, is by making it voluntary.

Of course, that involves exile, and was what Hitler was trying to do before the war started by sending "unwanted" or "unproductive" people and races out on trains. The war meant that all the trains were used for moving weapons and supplies. In the end, he resorted to just exterminating them.

  • @brendanmcwilliams You keep on criticizing communism by citing from nazi history, nazis were as capitalistic as they came during that time. May be you should first argue on why you want them to be the same?

  • @KOGR11

    Once again,

Wikipedia : Nazism, the common short form name of National Socialism (German: Nationalsozialismus)

While Nazis were socialist, the methodology or exiling or exterminating unproductive people, rebellious people, and intellectual people is similar with the socialist Nazis under Hitler, communist Soviets under Stalin, the Chinese, and other communists like Mao, Pol Pot, and the rest. Stalin killed more than Hitler.

Does that help, or are you a Soviet Holocaust denier?

  • @brendanmcwilliams National socialism was not socialism in any more than name. It was fascism. The fact that you are that easily duped by a name shows how unintelligent you are.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

From all the socialist and communist countries that are really fascist countries, or end up being, would lead intelligent people to conclude:

    a) they are one and the same

    b) they will all end up as fascist states.

    c) every single communist and socialist country failed and became fascist because "you" weren't in charge to make it work (and you dynasty, I assume).

  • @brendanmcwilliams They are not the same. they have ended up fascist states because the cherry pick form Marx rather than following Marxist values.

I can't quite align myself with Marxists, because I can't do physical labor, or anything that requires me to stand more than about two hours so that I down have a back spasm that causes me to need to catch furniture to not fall down.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

A communist that isn't willing to do physical labor. What a surprise. I am the kind of communist that doesn't dig physical labor, needs an inside job that is interesting and engaging, doesn't work well in cold weather, needs tropical weather for respiratory problems, needs constant foot massages for foot problems, etc.

I also have a mental disorder where I have to be in charge of the country or commune.

  • @brendanmcwilliams My medical record shows that it would be extremely difficult to do a burger-flipper job, and there are a lot of assholes out there who think that's what I should be doing, since I can't find a job with my master's degree. I nearly became homeless because of such assholes. In fact, those jobs won't hire you these days unless you have similar experience in your recent work history. I applied to be a cashier at Target and got rejected for not having cashier experience.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

Nobody argues that it is a hard market right now. I just don't understand your argument. You argue for communism, but when presented with a society in Virginia practicing it, you aren't interested.

Not that I would be. No privacy, sharing everything, etc. But then again, I am not arguing the superiority of such a system.

If you rebuttal is "I would love to join this commune in Virginia, but...", you obviously don't believe your own ranting.

  • @brendanmcwilliams Again putting words in my mouth. Shut the fuck up.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

As long as cronyism and bailouts (subsidized failure or corporate socialism) are present, the job market likely isn't coming back.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

Which communist experiment (besides these 90 yahoos in Twin Oaks) has ever ended in anything in fascism, totalitarianism, or feudalism?

China, North Korea, Russia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Cuba???

    Come on now.

  • @brendanmcwilliams These countries were communist in name only. But you're still a big enough dull to believe that National Socialists were actually socialists. That's why assume you have such a low IQ.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

Hence the fact that communism is proudly to be reported to work only in a tiny hippie commune in Virginia (90 people total).

  • @UnitedCommunists

And that is the only reason this little community is working. Will any brilliant people stay in this community. Likely not, from past experiments. Intelligent people are held back in such societies, and typically defect/leave.

Communist societies are good for lower IQ people, because, like insects, they stay content and distracted easily, allowing those controlling the resources to benefit (central control by a small group exists in all of these systems)

  • @brendanmcwilliams Do you actually claim to have higher IQ than each and every person in that community? So anyone who thinks anything other than capitalism and licking off the excess milk of the corporations has a lower IQ?

  • @KOGR11

Why yes, I can guarantee it. It is natural that high IQ people benefit much more in a capitalist society and low IQ people benefit in a communist/socialist society. Intellects are the first killed anyway, as they are most likely to rebel or coordinate overthrow of government.

This is human nature. It is also why legal immigrants to Western countries typically have high IQs. People who can do more with their talent and intelligence don't stay in communist countries.

  • @KOGR11

If you want to make a wager, I can guarantee an IQ test of everyone old enough to be able to choose to leave or stay has less than 120 IQ. I would say lower than 100, but there may be one or two 10 or 20 points higher.

I'm not trying to be mean, BTW. I just understand sociology and human nature to a high level.

Smart people won't choose to handicap themselves. Nor will they exert themselves for the same slave rations everyone else gets. Smart people are very adaptable.

  • @brendanmcwilliams Really? I have a 140 IQ and a master's degree, but I've struggled to get job interviews for the past 3 years. You don't know anything.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

See previous comment on high percentage of people boasting his on popup ad IQ tests, but no real-world results to facilitate said IQ.

Anyone stupid enough to go into extreme debt for a piece of paper they think magically guarantees them jobs is of limited intellectual facilities to start with.

    No offense.

If you claim to be jobless and smart, join this communist community. Maybe you can lead these wonks with your superior intellect.

    ;)

  • @brendanmcwilliams I wouldn't consider $57,000 "extreme debt," but it is extreme relative to my negligible income.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

That is about 2 cars. At least half the cost of a low end house.

A lot of people are in your same boat. College grad couples making $76,000 combined income, with $150,000 in debt.

Sadly, the increasing cost of college (along with healthcare, military industrial complex, and now housing) is thanks to your beloved government interference in the system.

  • @brendanmcwilliams That's because the government interference is primarily giving big banks free money and enormous legal loopholes.

The last job I was offered wanted me to do data entry for $10.85 an hour at 7:00 in the morning. After taxes, $10.85 an hour wouldn't pay my rent, but I would have taken it if I weren't relocating to Florida to start a new job.

  • @brendanmcwilliams The IQ tests we were given in high school rated you in percentiles. Mine was 98. You'll probably insist that this was the IQ number, but it was explicitly presented as my percentile, while my "percent correct" was 99.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

I got a 200 IQ according to standardized testing. High IQ people realize it is a moot point to claim they have high IQs on the internet. Without proof, you are only fooling yourself.

    Come on now.

This is usually a plus, as people are judged by their arguments, points, knowledge base, facts, logic. Conversely, people with weak arguments and lack of knowledge or basis in reality come off as those a bit "thicker".

  • @brendanmcwilliams You come off thick with your platitudes about the availability of jobs. If I were interviewing poorly, you would have a good case, but the fact that I'm essentially not interviewing at all means that you have none.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

So we come full circle, proving my point. You claim to be fed up with capitalism because you can't get a job in spite of your "qualifications". When prodded, you claim "I'm essentially not interviewing at all", so it seems you are happier without a job.

When given the option to move to Virginia and live in this commune, you feel it is beneath you. You feel you are too smart to be in a communist society, but not getting a good deal in the capitalist one

  • @brendanmcwilliams Again, you are a blithering idiot because you assume that my lack of interviews is a choice. You're too much of s simpleton to understand that the employer chooses who they interview, not the prospective employee.

I have tried all sorts of networking techniques, guerrilla marketing techniques, etc., yet I managed to net only 22 interviews from thousands of resumes sent out over a three-year period. Your claim that I am happier without a job proves that you are in ignoramus.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

    LOL! Rage! I love it.

I don't even have a B.S. at this point, but experience and a couple of certs. I have got jobs on sole experience in the past.

Besides working on the Virginia commune making hammocks for $73 a month, you may need to work at something else for a while if there are zero jobs for both of your degrees.

  • @brendanmcwilliams I have to deal with jackasses that see all the survival jobs on my resume and ignore my degrees and certifications. they're probably all imbeciles like you.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

I have a feeling you don't quite understand the meaning of the word "platitude", as you use it in an odd manner. I have noticed this when speaking with dumb people or kids trying to impress me.

If you can point out where I made any point about "the availability of jobs", I will retract my "dumb people trying to impress me" statement. As far as I can see, I only stated specific, high IQ jobs are available, like engineers. Statistics support this.

  • @brendanmcwilliams I want to leave this country because the job market sucks, and I consistently test with an IQ around 140. I was in the gifted program all through school, and I now have a master's degree. I very nearly became homeless when my savings ran out to pay the rent. Smart and rich do not go hand in hand. They go hand in hand if they start out hand in hand, but if you start with one or the other, they tend to stay apart.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

I support being able to leave the country, as I believe in American principles like democracy and capitalism. Lucky you. You won't have to flee or defect from the country like in all communist countries to date.

  • Comment removed

  • @KOGR11

I don't think I've heard of the strange analogies (if that is what they are supposed to be) you use. "Lick the excess milk"? High IQ people start and own their own corporations. You won't convince Bill Gates, or Mark Zuckerberg, or anyone that is bright.

In a capitalist world there is no limit to imagination. Fairness is replaced by progress and ingenuity. Those with the brightest ideas go the farthest. It follows the pattern of evolution.

  • @brendanmcwilliams What about intelligent people who have no money? The banks aren't offering the loans.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

We are not in overabundance of high IQ people without a job or unable to move up in the world. People claiming to have a high IQ and be unemployed are usually going off of an online IQ test/popup ad.

Most people do have trumped up degrees, but in paths that low IQ people tend to follow (arts, teaching, etc). There are no scientists, engineers, mathematicians, or other fields that require high IQs that are unemployed.

  • @brendanmcwilliams You have made numerous empirically false statements here.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

    Such as....

  • @KOGR11

I think the kid in the video has down syndrome anyhow. I think they may just be a branch of the Amish.

  • @brendanmcwilliams so.. people with down syndrome are stupid and so are amish?? you are really showing your IQ down that lane there buddy.

  • But then, Nazism, the common short form name of National Socialism (German: Nationalsozialismus) was the ideology and practice of the Nazi Party and of Nazi Germany.

I don't mind these types of nazist groups coming back, as long as they only exile people from their societies, rather than just exterminating them. Also, it would have to be voluntary rather than forced.

Actually, Hitler originally tried to exile "unwanted" folks via trains, but the war required trains, resulting in, you know...

  • As evil as this seems (exile, genocide, etc), I don't mind them doing this. Libertarian societies don't require exile or genocide, but whatever.

  • So it works if you can exile "unproductive" people, or kill them. That is great.

Hitler was all for this idea, as he wanted to kill all gypsies, handicapped people, and anyone else considered unproductive.

Doing this on a national level would mean pushing people into countries they don't have legal residence in or imprisoning them. On a global level, mass genocide.

    Hitler would be proud.

  • @brendanmcwilliams he would be truly proud

  • as long as he pay his tax fine with me

  • Socialism focuses on US. Capitalism focuses on ME. There's a huge difference.

  • I love how people keep going on and on about how Communism doesn't work, yet they don't scroll up and see an example of it working.

I love Democracy, but on a large scale like the United States, it doesn't work perfectly! It's purest form can be seen in local town halls.

Do not refute every system because your party tells you to. Open your mind a little bit.

  • I can't believe there are still morons that think communism is this beautiful eutopian ideal social structure. It doesn't work. If capitalism has elements of corruption within it, it's very apparent, and anyone with half a brain can spot it. If there are elements of corruption in communism, how would you be able to tell? Where are the checks and balances?

  • @scarebear1979

    >Where are the checks and balances?

    Manhours and consumption is logged.

  • The reseaon why America is in the crisis it's in, is because, America has been hijacked by a bunch of frigging COMMUNISTS!!! They have manipulated our laws, regulations, and political processes while injecting bs like this to brainwash the losers of our society into believing the communist agenda..I say oust all communists NOW!!..aresst the traitors and criminals in our gubberment and RESTORE THE REPUBLIC TO HER FORMER GLORY!!! God bless America!....cos after 200 million communists deaths WE K B

  • @unoitaliano

Honestly, I always wondered if we could set up an international ferry between US and Russia. US would be old fashioned capitalist (not crony capitalist or partial socialist like now) and Russia could go back to communist.

People could only cross between countries every twenty years. Taxes from both countries would pay for the ferries.

It would be great because all the brilliant winners would come to the US and all our lazy and low IQ would go to Russia.

  • @unoitaliano

I know Russia wouldn't go along with it. The other problem is how they handle the excessive leeches and the talented, brilliant, creative, and hard working folks having the option of leaving.

All past communist societies have resorted to extermination. I would assume they would fall back into that. I do believe Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and all the others killed off all the gypsies, jews, blacks, retarded, and gays to promote homogeneity. Correct me if I'm wrong.

  • @brendanmcwilliams Hitler was a fascist, not a communist, you moron! In what way did Hitler want a classless society???

  • @unoitaliano Capitalism is what has destroyed America. Communism will save it.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

Based on what evidence? Especially knowing that pure capitalism is what brought America to the highest standard of living and #1 world superpower.

Socialism was introduced in this last century, and we have been declining almost as bad as the Soviets. We lost Vietnam to communists, and yet it is now one of the most productive capitalist countries in the world.

North Korea is still communist, so there you go.

  • @brendanmcwilliams Pure capitalism is what gave the robber barons the use of vast resources for which to pay employees as little as possible to perform their labor.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

Yet no industry that the government didn't interfere (cronyism) in has never been able to maintain a monopoly. Railroads and oil, government interference and "good ol' boy" system.

Microsoft would be your only argument, but Apple, after hiring a competent CEO, fixed that problem. Linux was also mainstream and a free alternative that people were to lazy to mess with.

  • @brendanmcwilliams And in all cases of government interference, it is because the companies had grown so powerful that they could install their own government representatives.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

So lobbyists are caused by capitalism? It sounds more like anti-democracy.

If there are choices between bought off politicians and free-lance politicians, and people vote for the paid for ones, democracy, in effect, allowed lobbyists to exist.

If corrupt politicians and corporations are the problem, you are stating we should put all authority to these people in a communist system, along with retracting the Bill of Rights

  • @scottandrewhutchins

It comes back to the same premise. If people are happy with the standard quo, they will allow this to go on with their elected officials.

When they finally have had enough, they will start electing anti-politicians to fix the mess and restrain the powers and expenditures of gov't.

We are still not to utter frustration on the national level, I guess.

  • @brendanmcwilliams They can't change their elected officials because they don't have money to put up their own.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

It is called "grassroots". It is how so many "tea party" congressman entered the system. Also behind Ron Paul's campaign.

Even today, a group called "AmericansElect" has provided funds to enter all debates and caucuses for third party. Whichever candidate gets the most online votes gets the package.

Once again, it deals with the satisfaction the public has. When satisfaction is not present, these options come forward.

  • @brendanmcwilliams Those are astroturfers putting in people who do nothing but protect the rich--just look at the budget that the supercommitteee failed to approve that did nothing but move wealth from the middle class to the wealthiest--so again, your point is moot.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

I am not familiar with astroturfers, but I assume it is conspiracy theory lingo.

If you don't feel like moving to the commune, running the commune, or starting your own commune, why not run for a public office?

There is a lot of dissent for corporations and government being in bed together. I am doing everything possible to help Ron Paul win. Maybe you should work on your candidate or candidacy.

  • @brendanmcwilliams How would I run for public office when I have no money? The problem I have is finding someone willing to pay me to do something for them or finding a bank that will give me a loan.

Astroturfing means supposed grass-roots funded by major corporations. The Tea Party is funded heavily by the Koch Brothers and angles toward their interests who turn around and falsely claim that George Soros is funding the Occupy movement in a classic case of projection.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

Lastly, as I don't want to keep up a flame war, as we have diverted from arguing valid points. Communism exists in specific American communities. All Communists, feel free to move there an live out your dream.

That being said, I do feel for those who were sold the lie that a Masters, multiple degrees, etc equals a secure job & good salary. It was a scam.

Eventually, as education quality continues to fall, it will likely go back to performance based

  • @scottandrewhutchins

The tech field has seen the start of this, where online "games" dealing with hacking, programming, and other challenges, are appearing. Recruiters are scouring the leaderboards for those that can PERFORM amazingly rather than just a piece of paper from institutes with exponentially dropping standards and performance. A library will now suffice.

I believe, eventually, we will return to the days when jobs weren't dictated by a bureaucracy, buy a boss gauging your abilities.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

Monopolies only exist as long as the people allow them to. When a company gains a monopoly, they can only maintain it if they are cheaper than all competition, and people are happy with products.

If they keep too much in profit rather than reinvesting, they end up losing out via technology, like titan WalMart is to Amazon.

If they get greedy, someone will come along charging less.

Sometimes more expensive products win out due to quality (Apple vs MS)

  • @brendanmcwilliams Again false. No one is happy with Metropolitan Transit Authority and its skyrocketing prices and service reductions, but it has no competition other than taxi services, which are beyond the resources of many entirely and beyond the resources of most to use with any regularity.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

Is this another test to see if I can identify non sequiturs again?

What are you talking about? Did I mention any of these services in a previous post? Or anything remotely involving what you are talking about?

If so, I would be enlightened for you to point such posts out.

  • @brendanmcwilliams Yes, you did, because these services are essentially monopolies, and you said people allow monopolies to exist. My argument is that people have no choice.

  • @scottandrewhutchins

No choice in their transportation options, besides taxis, or Metropolitan Transit Authority?

Most just use a car. If you rely on public transportation, that sucks. Some have gone with scooters and mopeds for cheap and low energy alternatives.

If you feel both of these systems overcharge, you could start a business like a public taxi, minivan, or bus. I have used these systems in Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam, and many other countries.

  • @brendanmcwilliams LOL you think most people in New York City use a car. Yeah, if you're a Wall Street banker living on the Upper East Side. Do you have any idea how much it costs to park a car in New York City???

  • @scottandrewhutchins

Seems common sense to me (but that is just me). Move out of New York. They are hard hit by the recession, along with California, because of their pro-socialist agendas.

Search the country for a job, find it, move to that location. Pretty simple. I lived overseas for a while in order to make a six figure salary, so I am speaking from experience.

  • @brendanmcwilliams I have a job waiting for me in Florida next month. I have no money to move, but my boss said that he would pay to relocate me. Lack of funds left me trapped in New York, although I did apply to jobs in other parts of the country.

  • @brendanmcwilliams I did get offered a job in Northern New Jersey shortly after I moved to from Staten Island the Bronx, but they said that I'd have to move again because there really wasn't a good way to get to the office from the train, and couldn't pay for me to do it.

  • @brendanmcwilliams It isn't the pro-socialist agenda in New York that's the problem. It's the pro-rich, fuck everyone else agenda of King Bloomberg on an illegal third term.

  • @brendanmcwilliams My family thought is would be "common sense" to move somewhere thre cost of living is cheaper. to me, that makes no sense at all, because I'd still end up homeless if I couldn't find work in said cheaper location. My education has prepared me for jobs in media and publishing, but my inability to take a slave labor internship in lieu of paying rent has cost me dearly.

  • This is not an objective news program. They are pushing an agenda to beautify communism, from it's ugly past.

  • Seems like a propaganda piece to me. Foreshadowing. The country will fall to Communism in the year 2020 AD and the nation will not be restored until 4087 AD. Then we'll ALL get a chance to see how "great" this idea is. Wait until REAL Communism comes to Twin Peaks.

  • @thruthefirepubl propaganda? we get capitalistic propaganda 24/7 and i bet you don't even spot it

  • @danndan6 I'm aware...that is all we get over here. Unless we seek alternative sources and exercise discernment. Most of the nation is under mind-control. That may be the deeper meaning behind the "zombie apocalypse..."

  • A capitalist community would never be able to function within a Communist state.

  • @mdotty42 Lol, it's funny how people equate capitalism to freedom. Why would you want to ruin it with capitalism in the first place? Duurrrr!

  • @Darksunshinerain87 Doesn't matter ow you feel about it. People should be able to live any way they want to, as long as it don't harm anyone else. You talk as if Communism is a great way to run society. Maybe in theory but not in practice. No Communist ave ever been able to past the stage of Socialism without falling in to dictatorship, and oppressing the people.

  • There is no such thing called "Communism promotes classless society for all people". A fair society values diligence, talent and ambition.

I was born in a Communist country where everyone, including youths, classified themselves with many classes & superior attitude towards the impoverished or unfortunate individuals. These people clearly have no idea what they are talking about.

Never will there be a classless society because some people deserve better for their achievements. Just saying

  • We need to stop being hung up on labels and terms. Ideas need to be considered based upon their individual merit through critical thinking -- not from public relations and emotionally-potent oversimplification. For those who think this can't work on a grand scale without dictatorship, I would argue that Capitalism doesn't work either, as you're left with many of the same problems.

  • What if the parents grow old and that their kids don't want to stay anymore to continue? The elders remaining there will be left to die.

  • What a bunch of communists...

  • You hear that? Your out of here!! Just imagine if this was the Government. They would just kill you. Just like in Soviet Russia.

  • @Anonpartition Yeah, because the western governments dont ever kill anyone. Seriously, .

  • @gulbirk Never said they don't...

  • @Anonpartition No, but you state it as if these peopel will have any reason to come kill us.

  • @gulbirk I don't have a problem honestly with communism. It's places like china and NK....

  • Comment removed

  • they should send in a seal team to execute all them bastards.

  • well I geuss Amish are communist too

. and they have been around a long time.

  • well I geuss Amish are communist too...... and they have been around a long time.

  • too bad communism doesnt seem to work on a big scale... people are just too greedy

  • Communism will return! :)

  • @Tristan154UK communism fucking sucks

  • @02dartda If thats what you think, fairenough.

  • @Tristan154UK Even though this small communal society isn't too bad, nationwide communism won't work, as history has shown the only way of enforcing it is through a dictatorship, human nature won't allow otherwise, we're greedy and lazy. These countries are never economically prosperous, if communism is meant to benefit the individual than how come the gdp per capita and standards of living in western europe was much higher than the eastern bloc.

  • I say those guys try to build the venus project in that commune.

  • So, who owns the 500 acres that the community lives on?

  • Communism isn't "further than socialism" - It's a form of socialism... What about the Anarcho-Socialists? We're every bit as far left haha

  • If a resident becomes injured or sick and they can no longer put in their 42 hours of labor, are they forced to leave the compound?

  • is something like that in europe? I mean a little town or something

  • Primitive communism.... This will never work on a global scale, We must take hold of the power of modern industry to achieve a technologically advance, global communism.

  • @ipwnorcs Yup. This village shows that it could very well work

  • Now let's do this on a national scale. We set up a state government that is completely controlled by us the people and any politician can be impeached, if we choose, but we should let that government govern us as long as it serves our interests... This is communism in it's true form, no communist parties ruling the state, but the proletariat controlling the state.

  • @BSANONYMOUS Innovators that have a huge passion for what they do, people should follow their own initiative instead of being religious about money. There are people that become professors and highly educated just because they love learning, there are people who donate all of their money and life towards charity because they want to make the world a better place. It is not as black and white as you portray it, at all!

  • @BSANONYMOUS Sorry, that's just not how it works. If you are a slave of money then you are really pathetic. People should rather find a lifestyle that suits them and find a job they love instead of living horrible depressed lives just to fulfill their artificial needs and accumulating endless amounts of imaginary wealth and in the process ruining society on all levels. Tell me why Cuba, a socialist country has way more doctors statistically than the USA? What about all the scientists and ....

  • Biggest respect to Twin Oaks!

  • as long as they let there kids go to school i dont have a problem with that stay in your own little community and dont bother me thats what there doing i dident hear this guy trying to push his politics he just like this is what gong on at my little community

  • "Socialized Capitalism is superior to Centrally-planned Socialism!"

The Union was a Capitalist society with extreme extent of government power, Germany was a Capitalist society with extreme extent of corporate power. Both variations on political monopolies over the economy and, by extent, the law. Same as it is now with corporate lobbying.

We've never had anything other than capitalism on this planet. You know what's Capitalism in a nutshell? Money.

    Good luck with that.

  • @SexyMelon Oh and, the guys in the video are doing bullshit. The quota, exile and central planning systems have been a disaster in the past, it will be a disaster in future. This is what we typically blame collapse of - never fully existent - socialism for, and rightfully so. It's just stupid.

  • There is nothing wrong with peaceful, voluntary 'communism' - those who wish to voluntarily choose to live within a group that collectivizes the means of production and does not recognize private property.

However, there is EVERYTHING wrong with forcing that belief on those who do not wish to live that way.

  • communism growing in USA...
