  • I don't want to let go!

  • @askachub88 Sometimes, life isn't that simple.

  • no, no i dont

  • This song has such a bittersweet tone to it.

  • this song doesnt work on the android youtube app.

  • Where does Switchfoot come up with these lyrics and melodies? Amazing.

I guess when you sing from the heart, and have a big enough heart, you too can make music like this.

  • may I ask, why does every seed die before it grows? Explain that, I don't understand it

  • @TheDolphingirl11 It comes from a verse in the bible, it's basically saying that God had to send his son to earth to die for the sins of humanity. In other words He had to let Him go. And that on earth we all will live how we choose until we die and are given a life of eternity in heaven.

  • @askachub88

I was thinking about how love (not just lust that commonly floods the tunes on the airways) actually involves quite a bit of faith. There's a lot of letting go involved. Two souls in love is an intricate dance of give and take. I can be a fairly solitary person from time to time. Sure, I love being with people, but I also need time alone. The song is about the dance involved in a relationship the coming together and letting go. It equates love with breathing-pulling in and releasing.

  • Love is not constantly wishing for others happiness, just so you know.

  • my ex boyfriend just asked me to listen to this....fml..need hugs chocolate and tissues...

  • it would seem that 3 people never let somebody go.

  • I'm glad this song only has three dislikes

    =)

  • I love you enough to let you go </3

  • Wondering or wandering soul? :O

  • This makes me think of my best friend going to a seminary school. I can't be friends with him for the next two years because I 'm a girl and we had a thing for a while and their rules sound pretty strict. No distracting relationships and all that.

I want the best for him, and this song sums up pretty much everything that's going on between us right now.

  • It's so hard to let go. So hard. I love you.

  • @askachub88 I don't mean to sound like a douche, but I would think love is a bit more about caring for someone else, not yourself. Not that you can't try and be happy together, but love isn't about just being together, it's about actually caring about others feelings, whether you agree with them or not.

  • @TheFreakinAce i agree

  • do you love me enough to let me go ....? ♥

  • love them

  • i know how about living is simple that is also from switchfoot

  • I like the little guitar riff at the beginning :D

  • Aaaahhhhh... Pffff... Grmblr... -___-'

Most of you probably know what I mean with that right? That annoying feeling (in your stomach) which is killing you.

  • I think the essence of this song doesn't lie in the phrase, "Do YOU love ME enough to let me go", but "Do you LOVE me enought to let me go". I guess we gotta find out what love is; not pseudo love/ infatuation, but honest love.

  • @askachub88 You have love wrong. Love is never about you, it's about the person you love. "Do you love me enough to let me go" is saying Do you love me enough to let me make my own decisions, Do you love me enough to let me be happy and not just yourself. You can take the way Jesus loves you, He loves you so much he lets you go to be who you want to be whether it makes you happy or not because its your life. This also answers you about "if you truly loved someone you would wish 4 their happyness

  • do you love me enough to let me go.

it means if the person you love dies you have to let them go.

and when someone dumps you, you let them go because if they come back to you they really love you DUMBASS!

  • i love my boyfriend enough to not let him go! hahaha. :D

  • 2 people can't let go.

  • I love this person so much, how could I let go of something I never even had though?

  • Personally, I love all of Switchfoot's songs because they hit everyone in a different way. Heck, this song hit me in multiple ways. The first time it hit me I was leaving my boyfriends house days before he was to leave to follow his dreams. I cried all the way home because I didn't want to lose him. But I honestly think this song is just saying hey, I have something I HAVE to do on my own. And it's asking the loved one if their love is strong enought to handle that.

  • whether this is a love song or not, I hate that phrase

"Do you love me enough to let me go?"

When he broke up with me, everyone trying to cheer me up kept saying "If you really love him, let him go." But how could I do that? It doesn't even make sense. I love you this much, and I have to let go?! I don't want to?!

it's just like the other phrase,

"If you truly love someone, you would wish for their happiness."

what? If I truly loved someone, I would want US to be happy.

  • @askachub88 be encouraged. My girlfriend broke up with me last night. It sucks. I cried for hours. I love her so much. But I love her enough to let her find out if she wants me or not. I'm giving her time to think. Jesus Christ died for us on a bloody cross...knowing that most of the world - those He loves dearly - would reject Him. He sacrificed His comfort for our CHOICE... Love is a choice, a sacrifice, and a painful one at that. But if it's meant to be he'll come back :)

  • @Lman146 Don't start with the whole Jesus thing, please don't. I'm really sorry, but I don't believe in any of that.

Thanks though.. you reminded me that it's not just me that's in pain.

but at least your girlfriend is close..close enough to start over, reconsider, get back together again...

the guy I'm still in love with is on the other side of the world from me. All I can do is write to him or call him. There's no way I can change him mind just by that ):

  • @askachub88 I know what you mean, but I don't think you get that phrase. If you love someone, I mean REALLY love someone, you'd be willing to give your life up for them. That means you put them before yourself. Real love is sacrifice, like what Jesus did for us. Now THAT was love.

  • @askachub88

this is the question.. What if he/she doesn't love you anymore? and he/she wants to be free? will you still let her/him go? or still you would fight for you love?

  • @n3m3s1sn00bz no.. but what else do I do? I love him so much.... I can't just give up so easily..

  • @askachub88 just make your self busy... wounds heal

  • @askachub88 make your self busy :) wounds will heal

  • @n3m3s1sn00bz hahaha I know right? I figured that out a while back (: I started reading.

  • @askachub88 I know exactly how you feel. And I hate it too. After I broke up with her, even though to this day I know she's the one, I can not let her go. I just love her too much to let go of her.

  • @askachub88 I guess I get what your saying. In love the other person is your world, you want them to be happy, that they are well, that they are safe. You want them to be happy with you. I love my gf with all my heart, but I recently had an accident. I was miserable and I knew if I got worse, she would be taking care of me for the rest of my life. I told her that she should leave me. In my heart, I didnt want her to go, but I put her life and happiness before mine. I hope you kinda understand me

  • @xRawrItsIan You can't lie to yourself, you didn't want her to go at all. You wanted her to say I don't want to leave you, I love you, I want to be with you. The fact that you let her go, and she did... doesn't that just mean she didn't love you like you thought she did? Or am I just too young to understand what you guys went through..

I don't know, but when it comes to love, I just start thinking too much.

  • @askachub88 Aha, I didn't finish my story, of course I didnt want her to go. I got in an accident and can no longer walk and that would mean she would take care of me and I dont want her life to be like that. I'd prefer for her to be with a man that can give her what I cant. She didnt want that. She stayed with me and we are still together. I do love her, she loves me and I plan on marrying her. I know I didnt want her to go, but I was willing to let her go to be happy without me.

  • @xRawrItsIan ah, so it was a happily ever after (: dammit you tryin to make me cry? well as jealous as I am, and even though I don't know you, I'm so happy for you.

If I don't let him go, does that mean I don't love him enough?

Doesn't it just mean I love him too much to let him go?

    am I making any sense..

  • @askachub88 Well I dont know the situation you're in with him or why you're thinking if you should let him go. Of course if you love each other, it would make sense to stay together, but sometimes letting someone go is a sacrifice one makes so the other person can be happy. I was willing to do it even if it made me miserable cuz her happiness is worth more to me than my own. Idk if your guy isn't happy with you or he needs to do something, but ppl sometimes need to figure things out on their own

  • @xRawrItsIan You know what? I'm only fourteen. I gotta move on in life. I can't keep dragging these useless thoughts of wanting him back.

Tell your girlfriend... she's amazing, and I hope you guys are happy together (:

  • @askachub88 you're a young girl. Lots of teens go through that i love you stuff with their other, but once you get older, you'll realize that it was more like a puppy love. You'll find that one when you get older, you'll know when you find them that they are the one, trust me, I did and im 28. Just live you're life, it's all ahead of you. And I hope you find that guy for you, he'll cross your path :)

  • @xRawrItsIan thanks (: you're encouraging

  • @askachub88 If you cared about his happiness more than your own, you would understand. I know it hurts, but if you aren't ready to sacrifice everything you hold dear for someone else, you do not truly love.

  • @askachub88 then you obviously don't love him enough, because real love is constantly wishing for the others happiness,no matter what. and it can;t always be to your benefit, but if he's happy then you should be too.

  • @askachub88 But what if being with you makes them unhappy? Doesnt that count? When you let someone you love go its not saying stop loving them but let them have the free will to choose what THEY want. True love is accepting a chance of rejection.

  • @askachub88 No idiot this song its not for you, your brain is too small

this song its like for me, i know and she knows i have to go because my dads work, i have to move away, and obviosly she knows the change its going to be good for me may be not for her , but she must let me go.

  • @yosoyelbebe I know I'm stupid, but it just can't end yet. The way we broke up... I need to make it right. Once I do that, then I'll be able to give up. I'm sorry about you having to move. You miss her though, right? and you won't ever forget her?

  • @askachub88 Because real love is much more selfless than that. Sometimes you have to let someone go, not because you don't love them, but because you love them too much but they are better off without you in their lives. It may sound stupid to you, but maybe you just haven't loved enough, or maybe you haven't loved like that.

  • @askachub88 I'm pretty sure this song is about sacrificing his life for someone he's loves. "to let me FALL for you my love" "breathe it in, and let it go, every breath you take is not yours to own. its not yours to hold."... im pretty sure this is about death, not a break up.

  • @askachub88 and more specifically, if you want the deep meaning, the person who is saying "do you love me enough to let me go" is Jesus. Because he died for man and people didnt want to see him go but yet he had to do it to save us all.

  • hey look what happens when you discover your life had a biger porpuse than you think and need to complet your responsabilitis to make a better relationship in the future for the one you loves?this songs is about that love, better love than a couple love, and its aplicable to a cuple love

  • lol, you spelled tongue wrong XD

  • all switchfoot songs are AMAZING!! gotta love them...

  • This song is about someone that is trying to figure out things on their own , their life and their struggles and if you love them enough let them go until they figure out things on their own..Its simple

  • Song breaks ma heart </3 idk why but it does. lol

  • *-----------*

  • <3333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333 :] (no homo)

  • ...It's a fearful thing to be alone. Do you love me enough to let me go? "I can't live without you"- "I would die if you ever left me"- These are not the songs of love, these are the songs of consumption."

  • ..In our barcode media, love is often portrayed as consumption. As consumers in a commercial driven culture we can begin to view other souls as objects, or potential cures for our deepest fears and insecurities. "Perhaps if I found the right lover I would no longer feel this deep existential despair." But of course no human soul could be the Constant Other, the face that will never go away. Only the infinite can fill that role. But the silence can be deafening.

  • I can be a fairly solitary person from time to time. Sure, I love being with people, but I also need time alone. I guess I thrive on the poles. So this song is about the dance involved in a relationship the coming together and letting go. The song equates love with breathing- pulling in and releasing. Or a seed, for the seed to grow it has to be dropped and buried.

  • Jon Foreman- "This one started with the guitar hook I came up with during sound-check; however, most of the song took shape in a hotel room in Australia. I was thinking about how love (not just lust or codependency that commonly flood the tunes on the airways) actually involves quite a bit of faith. There's a lot of letting go involved. Two souls in love is an intricate dance of give and take.

  • 24 ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • okay a guy told me this is our song and this is how he feel about me...what does he mean?

  • @mygoldfishrocksocks

"do you love me enough to let me go?" it sounds like he loves you but he doesnt want to go out with you or whatever... he wants you to "let him go"

  • I love this song too much to let go!

  • I like this song. Today was the 1st time I'd ever heard it...thnx 4 the share!

  • 2 people didn't love me enough to let me go

  • who could dislike this song....

  • All guys are the same. I hate them all. And dnt try to tell me otherwise cause someone just proved it

  • @vazquezpor No. Not all guys are the same. Each one of us is different in some way. Some are jerks, but others, believe it or not, or sensative. Don't give up. You'll find someone someday. Just don't stop believeing.

  • @markknappjr i totally agree with you. and the weird thing is that just last year i thought the exact same thing as vazquezpor, but im so glad a guy was amazing enough to prove me wrong. I wouldnt give him up for anything in the world.

  • @vazquezpor no, i agree. i know "I" am EXACTLY like Hitler. all guys are. we kill masses of people on a daily basis, force our spouses to commit suicide, and spit in the face of the rest of the world. how about next time you think about what you're saying and dont let your emotions cloud your judgment because even though you might be a little upset right now, you just made a lot of guys upset because we are NOT all the same. thats like saying all girls are the same

  • @vazquezpor which thank god that isnt true because if they were all like you, i would change to liking guys

  • Really great song! Great job on the video too . Switchfoot is the best!

  • best song mi ever hearrd :')

  • tight ass song for surfingA!!! :p

  • i love this song.,i can totally relate to it right now.,especially the chorus.,

  • what exactly is this song about ?

is shee bad 4 him or something ? someone please explain

  • @dylanshaimiller i dont think that's the case...this song makes a lot more sense after...well it's a long story...but basically right then he has things he has to do on his own and it's not her it's just he cant be in a relationship kind of thing...so he'll "climb his mountains and then pick back up where he left off....does that make sense?? that's what i picked up from it

  • @limegreenmonkey13 yeahh it does .

    thankss .

(: yeahh i was justt curious bc i clicked on the song & it popped up & my mom said hmm Good song . sarcastically bc of my relationship . aha

  • @limegreenmonkey13 'The way I interpret this song is that he never has the intention of picking back up where he left off after he climbs his mountains. First, the lyric "wondering" is wrong in the opening of the song, he is "wandering," I think the song is saying he's just a wandering soul that can't stay in one place for too long, even if he does love her; they have to let the love happen and he'll leave when it's time.

  • @lizzykay93 i agree wandering> wondering

  • Nice!!!

  • sorry to say this but u made a mistake in the lyrics...u wrote mountians instead of mountains.

    anyways nice song! ;)
