@andylowings Sorry to hear that Andy. For me it's the challenge of making it musical without a natural 5th. Of course the flat 5th (and microtones) is the defining note of the blues. You are right - it is unsettlng and normally should be resolved, but this was just a study with the hang drum which has a fixed tuning of A phrygian (F Major), lowest centre note being A. So we explored and composed for all the modes except for this. We just jammed this as an exercise. Pete.
wow what a jam. It sounded like rock, jazz, flamenco, heavy metal and world all in one. And using the locrian mode in a way that sounds good, catchy, and not too tense automatically makes you a badass.
By the way, how hard was it to get that hang drum? In Canada they are virtually nonexistent, unless you wanna pay $5000USD on ebay.
the repeated lick at 1:20 would sound awesome with distortion and in chords. Thanks for showing me a great way to extort the sounds of the Locrian mode.
Am I the only one that does not find Locrain unpleasant? In certain part it sounds slightly Egyptian. I actually like it.

Locrian has a real bad effect on me. It is so deeply unpleasant that it makes me feel out of sorts for hours..and actually stops me sleeping.
