@leporello56: The presence of the dialogue is one of the chief reasons why the 1960 D'Oyly Carte is essential (as far as I know, no other recording includes it =P). However, Mackerras' G&S series certainly does boast both superb singing (and, yes, Allen is ideal, as are Schade, Suart and Evans) and delightful conducting, making it, in my opinion, the prime rendition of the operettas (though I do prefer Marriner's version of "The Yeomen" =B).

Thomas Allen IS Capt. Corcoran. I much preffer this one to the D'Oyly Carte recording. If only it had complete Dialogue.
